"DasCheap false advertised their shipping conditions and then ignored a confirmed order, because it turned out that the conditions they confirmed were not lucrative enough for them. This was my first and last order with them!
- I ordered a TV stand through their website, because it showed up on bing with free shipping
- Going through the order process on their website, the item was advertised and marked with “Free shipping”
- I finalized the order for a total of $319.78 including: Free shipping
- They sent me the confirmation for my order and also confirming
o Shipping: $0.00
o Shipping Method: Free Shipping (SAVED Standard: $95.03 - Express: $508.24) (3 - 5 Business Days)
- After nothing happened for 2 days, I talked to a sales rep who told me:
o Unfortunately this item is heavier then they thought
o So the shipping is not free
o It will cost me an extra $150 shipping to get the item
At this point I cancelled the order and went to another online retailer to order the same stand there with actual real free shipping.
Now my feedback:
My legal understanding is limited, but as far as I understand the most recent decisions of federal courts, the click through process of web ordering constitutes a legally binding contract. By changing the terms after the fact and refusing to fulfill the contract as agreed, DasCheap breached this contract.
Right now I have a bit of a hard time to connect how they describe their business on their website:
“We make shopping with us fun and interactive and most of all trustworthy, dependable with satisfaction guaranteed.”
With my actual first-hand experience.
Two comments about the response from DasCheap:
1. "Slander" per definition requires a statement to be factually wrong, you confirmed the order with $0 shipping cost, so we had a contract that you broke.
2. When in written form or published "slander" is actually called libel. Take a look at DasDictionary :)"
"I was shopping for an arcade stick, and they had it in stock at a reasonable price. It shipped out soon after I placed the order. It arrived in a timely fashion with no damage and worked like a charm. Even received a check-up phone call and a thank you letter afterwards."

On this page it showed a video for the ps3 version and I incorrectly ordered the item. After i noticed the confirmation page I quickly tried to contact them and cancel my order but there was no page setup to do so, there was no working number to call at that time in which the number was changed to a now automated number that lets you leave a voice mail and asks for an extension. I spoke to someone eventually named "Christian" who identified himself as the customer service manager. Originally after I contacted them they tried to charge me a restocking fee when I had no means of contact to get this resolved. He waived the restocking fee and said he would set me up with an even exchange and to send the item back. I printed out the form and filled it out and when the item arrived I had set up to send it back. It was shown it was received and signed for at their location by a person named Troy:

After this I been calling and contacting them for the past 48 hours and received no reply. It is now Wednesday March 30 2011 and Still No calls about my issue. But they did send me an email asking to review the product that was incorrectly sent to me. And still No service. I would never deal with this company again.

They did send out the PS3 Stick so i will update this review when it arrives on the condition and quality which I’m 100% sure will be excellent. The only gripe is getting someone on the phone and the underhanded dealings of that of the fees they were trying to charge me before I elevated the issue here and with a complaint to the BBB. There was initially a 20% restocking fee that they were going to charge me when after my first trying to contact them was waived when it was going to be an even exchange. Then they were going to charge me shipping a second time when I wasn’t able to reach anyone after my initial order to cancel and change it when it was well within the time that there phone support was operational as there in California and I’m in NYC so therefor there is a 3 hour time difference and my Order shows March 2nd, 2011 at 04:03pm So 3 hours prior would be 1:03PM and Well between there 9am – 5pm Customer Service times. And I wasn’t able to reach anyone at all, Instead I got a message after the item had shipped from there customer service department about the restocking fee if I was to send it back. When I tried very much so to stop and cancel the order but due to not being able to get in contact with anyone this is what I was stuck with. I did send it back and as stated above it was received by them. And still they wanted again to hit me with another fee this time wanting me to pay to ship out the original intended item when none of this would have happened if I was able to get in contact with someone to begin with. My experience wasn’t as great as I hoped it would be but everyone is different.
But it is alarming just like some of the other reviews here about Dascheap that unless you go the extra mile it’s almost impossible to reach a live person. Also there online web chat interface always says it’s busy and to keep waiting. As the day in question I had it on and kept clicking continue to wait for about 4 hours before giving up. To the people who had good experiences, I envy you and am glad that things did turn out well. I don’t see myself ordering from them again because of this ordeal but others just tread lightly.

The Actual Stick arrived and it was someone elses Return. It even contained there invoice IN the box. I should not have access to anyone elses Shipping & Billing information at all. I've reached out to them to let them know because it is wrong to show an item as new and give out a returned item. They are a complete scam Everyone Stay Away."

"This is a revision from my previous review. The seller contacted me once I posted this review and I dont know if they would have otherwise. I was not able to reach them at all so I was unsure what the status of my order was it just kept saying processing. After I spoke to them today they sent me an email which proved that my order did ship the next day and was a day away from me. So it appears that everything went according to the process it should have been. They even worked with me on the pricing as I saw a similar item priced less. I placed an order and paid for expedited shipping, I received only a portion of my order (1/10th to be exact) and my numerous phone calls and e-mails have yet to be returned. The telephone recording says that the offices are closed -- no matter what time of day and that a customer service representative is not available. I have left messages both by phone and e-mail. "I just received my item from DasCheap, and I have to say that I am EXTREMELY pleased. I did a little research on this site beforehand and the reviews were mixed, but I took a leap of faith because the item I wanted was way too expensive everywhere else or I would've had to wait months to receive it. I must say that I am an avid Amazon shopper as well, so this was a little out of my comfort zone in terms of online shopping. There were red flags all over the site to me, or there seemed to be, but now it just looks as if the entirety of the site is just not up to date constantly, which is no big deal if they're a legitimate business, which they are. "Very great store! I found a hard to find item on other known online stores like amazon and for less! Ordering was such a breeze. Just add it, buy it, forget about until it arrives at your door.
