"I ordered a laptop computer on February 1, 2010 with next business day shipping opion and I got confirmation email in the same day. I got another email on February 4 that states my order had already been shipped with some uppgrades. I thought that's OK. And I sold my old laptop because I would have a new one. On February 5, I got another email whcih states that my order was canceled because they have exhausted our supply of Inspiron 15 Notebooks. As a esult, Dell is a liar and doesn't respect its customers. I don't recommend you to shop via Dell.com because it is my 11th order which was canceled without a logic reason."

"I placed an order on the first of this month (two actually). I needed the laptop relatively fast so I opted for next day shipping.

The order status said that it had "Shipped" later that evening. No tracking info was provided. A day passed and I got the well-known Dell email saying that "Your order was delayed..."

Another day passed and I got yet another email telling me it was canceled.

Dell, you suck. You have horrible customer support, you cancel probably 90% of orders I place, and you suck. You must enjoy taking the funds out of my account while you plot to cancel another order. No, I am never 'charged,' but my credit card's available credit drops the exact same amount as my purchase amount for the to-be-canceled order.

Did I mention you suck?

Please don't cancel my other "shipped" order because of this review.

"Unbelievable. Again, Dell just send out emails to cancel my order even after several emails saying order is being delayed or requesting reconfirmation of order. Dell should not treat customers like this. If they cannot fulfill the orders due to insufficient inventory, maybe they should think about upgrade their order processing system or reorganize their operations. Ironically Dell is IT company who is supposed to have the most advanced e-commerce technology. "

"I purchased a tv with the promotion saying if you buy it by 2/1/10, you get $300 off! So, I did it, and next day, they dropped the price by $400. First of all, DO NOT TRUST Dell's promotion anymore.
I called the customer support to see if they could do something for me about this. When a similar thing happen when I purchased something at Sony, they easily gave me the credit back, and made me happy. However, the customer support at Dell was USELESS and not even trying to make their customer happy at all. After I explained my story, I was told Dell was not responsible for the price change and tried to transfer my call to other reps. However none of those calls got transferred correctly, and they just put me on hold forever, and finally the automation says that I had to hang up. They should at least try to make the customers happy about their purchases, but the DELL customer support is the WORST customer service I ever had for those pricy purchases. I feel I will NEVER EVER purchase anything from DELL. Very dissatisfied with the purchase.

"I placed an order for a managed gigabit switch for next day shipping. Two days later there was no sign of the order. I called support and after speaking to four different people in India they finally told me that they couldn't find my order and that I needed to reorder. I will find somewhere else to get my switch."

"I ordered three 1.5TB Elements External Hard Drives USB 2.0,black on Jan 8 2010. Confirmation came on Jan 8, 2010 giving an Estimated Delivery date of Jan 14, 2010. On Jan 12, 2010 I received email from Dell stating:
"We wanted to let you know that there is a delay with one or more items in your order.Based on the latest available information, we have adjusted the estimated delivery date
and are CONFIDENT YOUR ORDER WILL BE DELIVERED ON OR BEFORE THIS NEW DATE (Capitalizaion done by me).
(see Revised Estimated Delivery Date below)
We apologize for the delay and appreciate your patience. Revised estimated delivery Date 1/28/2010."

At :38 AM on Jan 26,2010, I received another email from Dell stating:

ORDER DELAYED! Your Action Is Required
Your order has been delayed again and we need your permission today to continue
processing your order or it will be automatically canceled
(as required by the Federal Trade Commission).

How to avoid cancelation of your order:

Contact us today to let us know that you still want us to ship this order, though it will arrive
later than expected (see the Revised Estimated Delivery Date below)

Simply send an email today to ****@**** stating that you are giving us
permission to continue processing this order.
Please include the order number (shown below) in your e-mail.

If you are not online please try dialing 1-***-***-**** and we will answer your call as quickly
as we can. Dell agents are available daily 8am to 9pm CST.

If we do not receive permission the order will automatically be canceled within 24 hours.

Revised Estimated Delivery Date March 11, 2010.

What happened to the "they are confident it would ship on or before January 28,2010???
It's obvious that they don't want to sell me the drives at the promised price of $79 each. After I received the January 12th email, I knew this would happen and I told a friend that they would keep delaying the order, in an attempt to get me to cancel. I knew this because I had a horrible experience with Dell in October of 2009, that I'll discuss later in this critique.
Dell wants me to cancel and they have timed the latest email to hopefully create a situation where the order automatically gets canceled (send the email very early in morning and if the recipient doesn't view their email for a day , the product is automatically canceled).

In October of 2009, with no warning, they canceled an order of mine for a Panasonic Plasma TV. I would not have known had I not gone online to check the delivery status 2 days before it was supposed to arrive, to attempt to get a clearer idea of exactly what time it would arrive. It was a gift for my mom, who lives in another city, and I needed to make plans to be there when it arrived, so I could install it(mom's in her 70's). Imagine my horror when I discovered that it had been canceled!! Not only did I have the confirmation for it. I also had the Dell preferred Account credit confirmation ( I was going to use Mastercard, but Dell reduced the price 3% for using their Preferred account). It was a nightmare experience. In order to resolve the situation, I had to deal with 7 different (3 in India) Dell employees, (six of whom lied like thieves about how it the order got canceled without me being notified, who was responsible, and what they could and couldn't do about it). Only one Dell employee, Tessa Stephens, had any integrity. Despite the continual lies, and total ineptitude of the others, Tessa managed to get the situation resolved, and my mother got a Samsung that was equal to the Panasonic that I had ordered. I had been a Dell customer for many years, but this experience was so horrible, that were it not for Tessa's professionalism, and integrity, I would have never ordered anything from Dell again.

Now, I have this experience with the hard drives, and even Tessa will not get me to order anything from Dell ever again!!!!!! My experiences will Dell have led me to the realization that except for Tessa Stephens, the rest of the organization is totally inept or corrupt!!!!!

If I could , I would rate Dell a negative 5!!!

"I ordered on 12/31/09. The expected delivery date was 1/11/10. I received the computer on 1/7/10.

Easy transaction, computer is great. This is my second purchase from Dell and I've been satisfied both times.

Don't pay attention to most of the Dell complaints on this site. The majority of the reviewers have no patience to wait for the computer to arrive, and what's worse, they are so money driven that they won't cancel the order for fear of having to spend $10 more on a competitor's product. "Ordered the XPS 9000 on Nov. 30, 2009 and finally canceled today Jan. 22, 2010 after getting my 5th delay. Customer service is horrible and they will not tell me what the hold up is. I will never buy another computer from Dell, TERRIBLE customer service!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Actuall purchased a custom computer from AVAdirect and will leave a rating for them once I receive it.

I would however recommend their monitors and there's no problem there only computers.

"In looking at this website, it seems that I am not the only one who has had problems with the Dell Customer Service. It is horrible. No one knows anything and they just transfer you around to different people. No one was able to give me a straight answer or help. I understand orders get delayed, but several delays and no answers later, I cancelled and bought from a more reliable dealer. This happened to me several years ago, and I should have learned my lesson then."

"I wish i found this website sooner. I had the same experience with ordering something that kept being delayed for a month. In addition, when I placed my order Dell failed to let me know about the 16$ environment fee who only showed up in the email AFTER placing the order. I complained using bbb.org and they say that they are not supposed to tell you about the fee before placing the order. They claim the fee is just added in the confirmation email. I think that is probably illegal. Anyway, I thought I was the exception. From what I see here bad CS is actually the rule for dell."

"Dell starts warranties the date you order your system, regardless of how long they take to build your system, fill your order, and ship it to you. I ordered my system on 12/11/08. My system crashed 12/17/09. When I called I explained that I didn't receive my system until 1/7/09 and told them to refer to my account and order details which showed that the system was delievered on 1/7/09, yet they stated it didn't matter that I recieved my system 25 days after I ordered it, they still start the warranty the day I placed the order. ABSURD! I bought the best system they sold and they still would not even replace the drives when I offered to take care of the labor myself. I WILL NEVER BUY ANOTHER DELL PRODUCT as long as I live. What a nightmare. Hours on the phone with Dell reps who are barely able to speak English and don't care if you are satisified with your $2200 plus system. They hang up on you and NEVER call back as promised. Dell should be legally closed down. "

"As with many other reviewers, over the years I have ordered Dell for both work and home. In Novemeber I ordered a new Zino for home use which had an initial delivery date promised within two weeks. Four delay e-mails, and one cancellation e-mail led me to cancel that order with a sales rep and order a different PC that had all of it's components in stock. It was scheduled to ship today.... Instead, another delay e-mail. I called and cancelled the order. I will not be ordering from Dell again. On another note, the new laptop I bought over the summer from Dell came designated as a European laptop. It took me three days to get this straightened out with Dell. I'm done.
