"I tried to purchase a laptop again from this place because I was hoping that their svcs. have improved. I was wrong. I understand if they have to assembled the laptop but for the price they are asking I just thought that I shouldn't wait for three weeks to get my laptop. After the third day of talking to them(phone and email), I noticed that the cust. rep. doesn't really care whether I stay as a customer or not. They simply don't care if I cancel my $1000+ order I placed. With this money i was able to get a HP laptop from a different site and it was $350 cheaper and with more memory (RAM & HD), wireless bluetooth and Lightscribe with no extra charge. Dell be aware that most people are getting informed that the batteries they used on their laptop are dying with in the first year of owning it. And you are not improving, the quality of items in your store. Buyers make sure to compare laptop from several store before buying. You could and definitely find the laptop some place else if you do your homework first and could save you hundreds. It is very easy to do it online (comparing), so don't just buy it from Dell. The hec.. with them."

"I applied for a Dell Preferred Account and was approved. I receied the approval confirmation letter in the mail and immediately went to make a purchase on a Canon DSLR. Shortly after my account was flagged as restricted.

When I called to find out why I was told they could NOT tell me why outside of them not being able to verify my information. They refused my offer to assist in verifying my identity, and refused to disclose what exactly they were unable to verify. The only thing they were able to tell me was that my Dell preferred account was going to be closed and that I would receive a letter in the mail explaining why, which I have as of yet NOT received either.

I feel this is very poor customer service and due to this I will never purchase from Dell and I will suggest all my friends avoid them as well.

"...I've owned two Dell Inspiron laptops. The most recent was purchased in late September 2005. My warranty expired approximately three weeks ago, and since that time my machine has self-destructed in the most spectacular fashion I've ever seen. The AC Input and Ethernet Cable Input connectors have both come loose from the board - a FREQUENT problem with Dell machines. I've had two AC Adapters spontaneously blow out. I saw a bizarre reduction in battery life, a slowdown in response time with no major system changes, and to beat it all a crack in the LCD. Did I mention the poor thing started whistling like a teapot? And the keys on the keyboard/keypad randomly started breaking off. Luckily THAT one started in late September, and I was able to get a replacement JUST before the warranty expiration - that sounds like a positive...BUT:

Dell support (both Phone and Online) are inept - and almost entirely outsourced. They have an extremely limited grasp of the English language, and I had to repeat myself several times in order to be understood (and through voice training I have little to no accent, so that wasn't an issue). In one instance they apparently didn't think I was actually me, and asked me where I had the order shipped to originally - which gave me pause since I lived there a year and a half. It was a mess.

The machine was actually purchased in late Sept. 2005, however, through a series of increasingly difficult-to-obtain in-warranty repairs, my final transaction related to my system occured at the beginning of the month.

I've spent the last 15 years around machines, and I've NEVER witnessed anything like this. And because it's out of warranty, of course it'd cost a prohibitive amount to fix. Obviously I will never, ever, *EVER* buy the shoddy products of this company again.

"My first time ordering from Dell. I ordered a Inspiron 1520 Laptop in Black. Estimated ship date was 10/18/07. I received order 10/8/07. Everything worked perfectly. Only time will tell. I checked this website for Dell and other company reviews. Every single company has good and bad reviews. What I liked about Dell is that you can custom build a system online without a salesperson trying to sell you something you don't need. I did take the optional 2 year in-home warranty. "

"Worst customer service experience I have had in a very long time. Tech support says talk to Customer Service, CS says it is a tech support issue. Got a replacement hd for an Inspiron 9300. It was a used HD with NOTHING loaded on it. I have a 24-7 extended service contract that Dell is unwilling to honor."

"I bought a Dell Latitude D620 and I have been extremely dissatisfied with the product and Dell customer service:
1. They sent it to the wrong address. Once I noticed on the email confirmation, I let them know, but they could not change it, even though it had not been shipped. They said the label had been already printed 3 days before it actually shipped, and asked me to call some other department, because they could not communicate internally.
2. The computer gets very hot and it slows down. I have had it for a little over one year, and it is unusable for a significant portion of the time.
3. The 9 cell battery never worked well. I got 2 hours out of it new. Even though other customers got about 4-5 hours with this battery, Dell told me it was normal and refused to do anything about it.
4. My charger died. You cannot buy a Dell charger in store and you have to order it online, now I have to go for a few days without my computer. Of course, the battery is also completely dead by now.

"Ordered a new latitude D430. The item shipped in 5 days, which was much sooner than their website indicated. The system arrived complete and to spec. I can't really comment about their support thus far because I've had zero problems with the system."

"Well i ordered 5.1 headset from dell.com on september 21, 2007, i usually never buy from dell since i had no needs to, but they did have the Ear Force HPA2 Surround Sound Headphones with Detachable Microphone for cheapest on the net so i said what the heck this will be my first dell order, so i ordered it with next day shipping because i needed it by today and dell usually takes a day or 2 to process the items and ship it out.
Well it got shipped out on monday and was suppose to be come tuesday well, tuesday came and nothing came, i checked tracking number and dhl said it was delievered, they left it @ front door well i never got that so i dont know who they delievered it to, so i look on dhl and it shows wrong address so im like what?!? I Called up dell and told them about this they said they were going to contact dhl and call me back and also process another headset to me but it will take up to 8 business day WHATTTTT?!?!?! i needed it by today (friday) and thats not going to happen wasted 81 bucks including shipping to have this headset but noo dell has to use dhl and have everything go wrong and then take forever to send me another one.
LAST TIME IM ORDERING FROM DELL....

"I have been buying Dells for 15+ years and overall thought they were ok. They are priced on the high side($3400 for my XPS) but I always paid the price figuring their good warranty and willing to replace defective parts.

Well, im not going to go into the whole story but they lost a customer for life and I will never recommend Dell, in fact I will do the opposite. They made so many mistakes on my order that its in excusable. I had so much patience but it got me no where.

I placed my order using my Dell Preferred Account. For whatever reason they couldnt verify my phone number so my order kept getting delayed. The only way I knew was looking up the status myself, no phone calls from Dell. I then try to buy the cpu in cash with my debit card and AGAIN had issues with having to verify info. It finally gets verified and I think everything is finally good, its not. When the sales rep put in my order using my debit card she accidently downgraded my processor and added accidental insurance coverage to my order. Neither of which I requested. When I called to correct it, they told me they would have to cancel my order and reprocess it. I say ok, i'll deal with it.

Two days later I get ANOTHER call. This time its a recording saying my order will be delayed since a parts on backorder. I call Dell, spoke with two differnt people and neither one could tell me which part was holding up my order to give me a chance to change it.

When I told them of the mistake and to drop the accidental coverage and pt my original processor back he told me my ship date would me delayed a MONTH. I am not exaggerating. There is so much more to this and so many other things Dell dropped the ball with but it goes into too much detail.

Dell really needs to get their customer service up to par. The outsourcing is causing communication errors and alot of unneeded frustration. I never in my life had such a hard time trying to spend my own money. I canceled my order and went to Digital Storm.

"My second order from Dell.com/smb I used a $50 off $50.01 or more (before shipping and tax) with no problems. I ordered a travel power adapter for my Vostro 1400. Accessories for the new Vostro line were not yet properly identified but my IT guy at work had the same PSU so I new it was correct. Shipped withing 2 business days (ahead of estimate) and arrived more than adequately packed.

My previous order was for a the Vostro 1400 and a . The estimated ship date for the laptop was over 3 weeks after I had ordered it and then it was even later than that. This was not convenient for my schedule but they upgraded me to next day air shipping and gave me the aforementioned coupon. The projector arrived promptly.

All product received have been satisfactory and email customer support has been extremely prompt with impeccable followup.

Dell will email account passwords in response to anonymous "forgot password" requests so if you want to hack someones dell account request their password and then intercept the email (not too difficult to do). Hopefully they will fix this with a proper password resetting procedure.

As for all the "extremely dissatisfied" reviews... I would rather suspect most of them are due to user error and ignorance while trying to use Dell's bottom-of-the-line products and services. Dell.com/smb is top-notch in my book.

"Very dissatisfied. I was told to Inspiron 1521 because it would not be delayed, and it was. Dell called at 4:00PM on the day it was suppose to ship, to let me know the est. ship date was not twice a long as before. If you call the customer service center, you can not even understand their employees located in India. All you get is "I am sorry" "I am sorry" "I am sorry" over and over again, but they don't do anything to resolve the problem. A terrible company to do business with. "

"Ordered a laptop on 8/16 for my niece. Delivery delayed over 30 days ("pre production"), although advertised as if they were in stock. Laptop case delayed until December. Very disappointed in misrepresentation of items as available for students; very unlike the service we have received in the past from Dell. Not so sure I will continue to be a loyal customer. Canceled order with Dell and purchased new HP from Circuit City w/all the bells and whistles for slightly less $, along with new laptop bag. Just in time for school, and I didn't have to wait for 1-3 mos to get it! :) Love the HP."

"Dell now has terrible customer service; ordered XPS M1330 on August 10; estimated ship date was Sept. 7. Called to find out whether Dell knew what was causing the delay. They are advertising up a storm to sell even more units with the same options that they can't produce now. And have fun trying to understand someone from India who is trained to lie and make excuses.
