"I have read many reviews from other Dell customers over the last few day and I was to say I am sorry to those customers who have had bad expierences with Dell. I have had no problems with Dell. I placed an order on the 15th of March 2005 and it was shipped on the 16th of March. I am waiting for the arrival of my new Dimension 4700C. I am extremely please with how fast my computer was made and shipped. I ordered a Dimension 2400 almost exactly a year ago and just wanted something more modern and up to date. I would like to say THANK YOU DELL for making my expierence a great one!

"Most horrible experience buying online. I cannot believe that Dell's order handling and customer service has gone this low! When I placed the order for a Pentax digital SLR camera I was of the idea that Dell has them in stock. After I placed the order, they kept changing the delivery date. Its hard to get through to anybody to get a straight answer. I decided to cancel the order finally, and it was a major hassle even to cancel the order. Their phone suppor system and website treat you like a low life. This is the last time I am ordering from them."
"I have ordered DELL products for about 5 years, and have always been satisfied with the equipment I've received. However, Customer Support has become an absolute JOKE! Easily the most disorganised and confused mess I have ever had to deal with in business. Wait times routinely exceed 30 minutes. You generally are transferred at least 3 times, having to explain the same information: Service Tag, Name, Address, etc. to each rep; then once again explain your problem, only then to again be transferred to another 30 minute hold time. Today, I've been on hold for 1 hour and 20 minutes... thus prompting this review.
I will never order DELL again! If I owned DELL stock, I would unload that lead zeppelin fast!"

When this company had its support located here (here being in the USA) it was, in my opinion, the best computer company in the world. I had previously dealt with Packard Bell, Compaq and Gateway so I had a pretty wide base to judge by. I raved about Dell to everyone that even glanced at my Inspiron 8200.
After the last year or more of nothing but “Techs” that only know enough English to claim their name is Bill, Steve, Dan or Gloria, I wouldn’t recommend this company to anyone. I don’t want to force anyone, friend or not, to have to deal with the incompetence that I’ve had to FIGHT with ever since they’ve moved the tech support to India.
My latest fiasco started with a video card going bad. The first tech I had to deal with didn’t have a clue what I was talking about. The second tech sent me a display screen. Obviously that didn’t help the problem. The third tech (it’s been a month now) ordered the write part but she claimed it was on back order for more than a month. I called and started over again with a fourth tech and that one finally sent the video card which did solve my video issue.
However, when the tech took the computer apart he destroyed a keyboard skin I had on the laptop. Now I’m fighting with them to get the skin replaced. The first tech tried to send me a colored snap cover that attaches to the back of the screen. I’m not sure how he could consider this a keyboard skin but after trying to get him to go to the web site and SEE what I needed he STILL wanted to send me the snap cover. I finally got him to have an advanced tech call me. I’m not going to hold my breath for that call.
Well, I guess I’ll be filling another Better Business Bureau report against Dell. It’s no where near my first and I’m sure it won’t be my last.
Dell needs to get all of their employees back in the USA. Anyone purchasing a Dell computer needs to know that their money is NOT staying in the US as Dell’s commercials imply. I really get upset when I see that commercial showing a guy in bed calling and getting an American tech. He must be the one and only since I haven’t spoken with an English speaking tech in over a year.
I can’t buy from Dell, Gateway is all but dead for the same problem. Compaq’s been bought out by HP, and they weren’t that great to start with, and HP only makes low powered systems, (i.e. highest video card memory is only 64MB) so who’s left?

"Great Canon lens! Very *fast* shipping and everything was a promissed. They beat all web prices! Very happy with Dell."
"I purchased an Inspiron 1100 laptop from Dell Inc. with a price of CAD$2300 for use at British Columbia Institute of Technology as a full time business student. This included one year Dell warranty.
One year and six months after the purchase the laptop failed to turn on. After checking with four different computer repair services and troubleshooting with Dell’s phone customer service it was discovered that the motherboard is no longer operational. As such all data on the computer is now unavailable and the computer unusable.
The laptop was used in a reasonable manner and it was rarely taken out of the house. It has never been dropped or damaged in any way in the short time it has been in my service. As such I believe that the reasonable amount of time required for a good to work (as described in British Columbia’s Sale of Goods Act and Consumer Protection Act) has NOT been reached. This fact is highlighted by the amount of money spent on the laptop and the amount of time it operated properly.
Dell reps and managers refused to do anything about it and kept saying the same thing over and over without even understanding the laws in question. Also, I was outright refused the right to contact a certain level of Dell management and had to deal with barely educated individuals.
Dell is a company people should not do business with because it is highly likely they will be severely disappointed by the product and the customer service.
Everyone should know that they do have rights which cannot be waived by any sale contract and they do not have to buy a warranty to expect a product to last a reasonable amount of time."
"Ordered a Dell Flat Panel Widescreen Monitor in December (2005FPW). Product shipped and arrived very quickly. Also got an amazing price for it. Have had the monitor for three months so far without any problems. Truly love the monitor and service with Dell has been great. Have ordered other things from Dell a couple of times without any problems either. Will order from them again!"
"wasted potential...
when i order from Dell, i do it on a thurs or fri as i know there will be a problem and it will take me the entire weekend to fix. this last time, i ordered a canon 20d dslr. the shipping method got "confused" and even though i paid for faster shipping my package was sent normal ground.
a note about dell "ship dates": no one at customer service seems to know what this means. is this the date the item shipped? or the date i should recieve it?
after calling customer service with my problem, a rep agreed to update my shipping to next buisness day. i was very pleased...until i called their shipper DHL. the dhl rep told me my shipping could be upgraded and that it would only take a dell rep to call and do so, but she stated the no dell rep ever called and my shipping was still standard ground.
i then called dell back and was given a $50 gift coupon in return for my trouble. it was then another ordeal (over 1.5 hours on the phone) to be able to use this coupon on the item i wanted.
buying from dell is safe and at times they offer very good deals. just pray you dont need to contact them for any reason other than to purchase. if something does go wrong be prepared for long waits, multiple transfers, and CSR's who barely speak understandable english. and they might even lie to you about upgrading your shipping when they messed it up in the first place!!"
"Was in the market to get another basic computer system for the home... had spent some time on nextag and bizrate etc trying to find some "super deal" out there. OK, I spent hours and hours, one day til like 4:00 am.
Just wasn't finding anything that looked good. Have built and upgraded systems in the past but my last system purchase was a Sony system from Best Buy a couple years or so ago and I liked not worrying about setting the correct jumpers and such from the past.
A day or two later I stumbled on to resellerratings.com and followed one of the main page links listing something like "Dell systems starting at $349" or whatever... After just a few minutes I know I'm liking what I see. Decided on a basic system which included free upgrade to 512mb of ram, free upgrade to 15" flat panel. Paid to go to 80gb hard drive... after a small business $159 discount and then a $100 mail in rebate. My final system price will be $433.
Ordered online on Wednesday (3/2/05). Automatic order system said estimated shipping date was Tuesday March 8th... I added a few days for delivery and figured I would have it at the earliest the end of that week or early the next. Received an email on Friday (3/4/05) saying the system was shipped on Thursday (3/3/05 next day after my order) and the UPS guy brought the package to my door Monday (3/7/2004). I received it BEFORE I had even expected it to be shipped!
Writing this review on the system now. Very satisfied with online ordering system at Dell, the price/value of the product and especially the shipping. The old deliver more than you promise IS still good advice...
To find best deals at Dell.com, use their search feature and enter "outrageous", then follow links to Outrageous Desktop Deals! and Outrageous Notebook Deals! etc. They seem to change often."
"Got the Sony Cyber-shot DSC-W5 for $265 with a special price quote and promotional code. Great deal!"
"Absolutely horrible experience. Bought a Dell 700m through their outlet. Upon realizing that the laptop was too small, contacted support to request a return authorization. After getting no response for 2 days, called the 1-800# and spoke to a lady with a middle eastern accect who sounded like she was speaking on a cell phone under water. She proceeded to put me on hold 2 or 3 times, while getting approval for the authorization. She was extremely polite and offered to pay for the return shipping due to my extended hold time. I was informed that UPS would pick up the computer the next day. I requested a pick up at my office, which she said, would be no problem. The next day, no one from UPS showed up. E-mailed support and waited 24 hours then someone called back to apologize again and offered me $50 credit if I would instead keep the computer! Incredible. After that experience and hearing of many other nightmares from other people, I decided that I would never buy Dell products again. Their service is atrocious!"
"Horrendous service with tech support, customer care and other extensions in India, Phillipines and Panama city!
Avoid Dell products due to the worst customer service in the world!"
"Bought a computer as a gift for someone. Had plenty of time, and estimated ship date still gave me time. Order status screen indicated delivery would take place ahead of time...then only part of my order arrived, but Dell's site insisted it was fully delivered. They have, after 8 days of contact, been unable to tell me what the true status of my computer is. Each time, it's wait a couple of days and call us back if you haven't received it by then."
"This was our second purchase from Dell. Our previous system was apprx 5 yrs old and even though still works great to this day, is just not powerful enough for todays technology.
About the new system; Ordered a Dimension 4700, 512MB Ram, 160G Hard Drive, 17" Flat Panel and a few other upgraded bells and whistles. Ordered the system on the night of 02/23/05, with an estimated ship date of 03/01/05. The system shipped 2 days later on 02/25/05 and we received it 03/01/05 (remember Feb has only 28 days). What more could you ask for, having the product at your door on the same day, as the estimated ship date when order was placed. Got the system set up and running with no difficulty at all. Provided instructions with the system appeared to be very customer friendly and easy to use and understand. Did not take advantage of the free six months AOL (have a strong dislike for AOL), instead used the link provided with the system to set up a Netzero High Speed Account. The next day it appeared we developed a problem where images on the internet were grainy, distorted and just plain not clear. Contacted Tech Support thru the support chat option (tried phone contact but was on hold for at least 30 minutes). Contacting tech support by phone can be frustrating at times. Chat Tech Support work very well and a conclusion was drawn that our system had a video card problem. Motions were put in place for next day air of a video card and a technician to replace on site the video card. The next day thru research, suggestions, etc., it was found that the Web Accelerator thru Netzero was adjusted very low (for faster downloads). Adjusted the accelerator to the highest quality possible and now all internet images, etc are of very high quality. The next day received a phone call from the technician, who was on his way to install the new video card and after the discussion we had, that job was cancelled. After this minor set back on the 2nd day of having the system, all is working in top order and we are Very Pleased with this system. The 17" Flat Screen produces very nice images and is a welcome relief to space saving versus the big bulky CRT monitors. What an amazing difference between a 5 yr old system versus a new system that is built to handle todays technology. "
"Ordered a Dimension 4700 as a back-up system on 2/24/05. Shipped 2/27 with receipt on 3/1. Excellent performing system. Their Sonic burning software is a little buggy. I uninstalled it and installed an OEM Nero 6 Suite and everything is running smooth. System is VERY quiet and I'm a happy camper. "
