"They certainly do lie to get the sale. I wish I had seen this site first, I never would have purchased the most expensive treadmill they had in their Appleton store. The sales person sold me on a feature of their credit card that was bogus. I questioned him twice about it and both times he assured me it was NO INTEREST for a year and that the interest did not accrue backwards if the balance wasn't paid off in a year; that the interest would be figured ONLY on the unpaid balance. NOT TRUE! Dick's did nothing. Consumer Complaint did nothing. No one seems to care that they are lying to make the sale. If they tell you something, my advice is to get it in writing before you sign on any dotted line. They'll do anything, say anything. Probably why they only have one star!! Pity you have to give them even that much!"
"I ordered two basketballs and a portable basketball hoop and backboard. I paid a fortune (about $100) for shipping. The basketballs arrived no problem. The hoop and backbooard never arrived. I contacted Dick's who said they had made an error and was re-shipping. I still haven't received it, 3 weeks after placing order."
"I placed an order- approximately 50% of it was cancelled (11 out of 23 items). Their response, an empty apology and a $10 online only coupon that cannot be combined with any other offers, and as anyone who shops there knows, $10 at this store is nothing with their extremely high prices, the only way to make it affordable is to combine multiple deals.
The cancellation is annoying, the coupon is offending, and the fact that the order shipped in 9 different shipments- yes that is right, each of the 9 shipments billed individually on my credit card, made tracking how much they actually charged me even more fun- as I didn't trust that they didn't charge me for items I didn't receive.
Bottom line- if you order from them, don't be surprised if you don't receive the item, and if you order multiple items, just keep track as they are individually charged to you in most cases."
"I received a gift card from Dick's for Christmas this year. I found 3 tank tops on clearance that I liked. Instead of shipping all three together , they shipped separately .The first one they shipped and I got in 2 days. The second one didn't have an address label , according to UPS , so delivery was rescheduled . I got it in 3 days. Ok , no problem..I was ok with that. This is the one that gets me >>For my last tank top , I emailed them a couple of times wondering why , since it was in stock , it hadn't shipped already along with the other two . They assured me it would be shipping any moment now. Well , today , I just got an email saying they had canceled my order due to availability! Really Dick's? When I ordered , it was IN STOCK! When I emailed you twice , you said it was in stock , and would be shipping anytime! BTW , I will advise everyone I know to never deal with these people. The prices are so ridiculous anyway! When will companies learn that it is us little people that support them with our money? Treat us bad , and we will no longer support you. You tank , see how that works? And with the Internet , word gets around!"
"These guys suck. Bought a safe, they said was in inventory. Still waiting after 6 weeks. Go somewhere else. They just don't know what they are doing. And it seems they do not care. Screwed up company. Go to Cabela's."
"I placed an order on December 14th that was "guaranteed by Christmas". Part of the order shipped right away. They cancelled a good part of the order. And 2 items sat as pending for weeks. After Christmas, I called Dick's and told them not to send it that I needed the items for Christmas and it was too late. On December 29th, they sent a shipping confirmation and charged my credit card for the remaining 2 items. But the items never arrived and the UPS tracking number only says "a label was printed". So they never actually shipped the items. I have contacted Dick's many times about this and they have not helped me. They have only stolen my money. NEVER AGAIN will I buy from their website."
"Dicks needs to re-work their whole order fulfillment system.
Ordered NFL team Item a week before Christmas. Item showed "Stock located" for a few weeks. Contacted customer support via chat, but all they could do was "we will investigate further" If you have an issue, just call them, their online chat is useless. I did get a "shipping confirmation" on 1-02-2013. When I clicked to track the package, USPS showed that dicks had requested shipping info on 12-18 and that was it. So basically someone just changed my status to shipped even though USPS never got the package. I tried the chat a second time and got the run around. Finally just called and did get an answer. It was Because of the Storms USPS hasn't been reliable. Which is false, Dicks never checked the item once it wasn't picked up and or delivered to USPS, it just sat on a shelf somewhere. They did still have the item in stock and supposedly is going to ship another one out. I don't think i'll hold my breath on it or the shipping charge refund i'm supposed to get. I order many items from many places and have never ran across such incompetence in all my online shopping experience. Please avoid ordering from Dicks, you'll save yourself a tone of hassle no matter how good a deal you might be getting."
"I purchased a Troy rifle as so many of you did on the Black Friday sale only to have the order canceled on Christmas Eve. The same unfilled promises were made to me when I called the store to check on the progress of filling the order. To the best of my recollection, I have never been so poorly treated by any store. Many of you stated that you would rate them with a zero if you could. It looks like their overall rating is approximately 1.7, If all the one ratings could be rated as zero their rating would be closer to 0.7. Can any store be rated lower than Dick's Soprting Goods? BEWARE of anything you might be tempted to buy from Dick's. They have no integrety.
I also rate them as a zero with regard to satisfaction. I was treated with respect by the representatives I talked to."
"I ordered a pair of Brooks Women's Infiniti II Tights in BLACK. When I received my shipment, they sent the wrong pair of tights (they sent the purple ones.) I called customer service and they said that they would send me the correct pair and I could send the wrong ones back.
After 2 weeks, I never even received a tracking number for the reshipment so I called customer service a 2nd time. They told me that the order hasn't even been fulfilled in the warehouse yet and it could take 5 days to fulfill the order and another 5-7 days to ship. Now I am looking to get these tights that I ordered on 11/27 AFTER Christmas! They told me that they would rush fulfillment and overnight the tights.
When I never received any type of tracking again, I called customer service a 3rd time on December 24th. They told me that the girl that claimed to get overnight delivery fulfilled didn't have permission to do that. This time I spoke with a "supervisor." She told me that she would indeed get the new tights shipped overnight, but due to the holiday I wouldn't receive them until Dec 26. Keep in mind that I needed these for Christmas. I asked her for her direct extension so that if I had a problem I could call her directly. She gave me the WRONG EXTENSION! I have called it countless times to only hear a busy signal, yet when I dropped the 5th number from the extension someone answered.
On December 26th I did indeed get a package with the same tights that they sent me the first time. THE WRONG ONES. I called customer service a 4th time and the guy that I spoke to told me that they must be the tights that were ordered to ship from my 2nd call to customer service. He told me that the "supervisor" that claimed she could get the order rush fulfillment and overnight shipping did not have permission to say such a thing and that it would take days to fulfill and to "be patient." He told me to give it an extra 4-5 business days and I will get the correct pants shipped.
I never got a new shipment so I had to call customer service a 5th time!!!!! The girl that I spoke to was NO HELP AT ALL. She told me that the pants that I ordered are probably not even in stock and that is why they kept sending me the wrong ones. She assured me that a supervisor would call me that week. That was a week ago and still have not received a call from a supervisor and still have not received the correct pants.
This has by far been the WORST online shopping experience of my life. Customer service, especially the so-called supervisors, were UNPROFESSIONAL and had no desire to make their mistake right. If this is how you conduct business, you can rest assure that I will NEVER shop at your store again. I spend hundreds of dollars a month at Dick's, but I will take my business to Nike.com and other such competitors. "
"Wish I could give a ZERO RATING, they don't qualify for a one.
Dicks Sporting Goods sold me and thousands of other customers a rifle on black friday. The Troy Carbine rifles were paid in full and guaranteed by store management to be delivered in 1-2 weeks, over a month later we get a refund by mail on christmas eve. Dicks Sporting Goods could have delivered the rifles but decided not too. We want the rifles not a refund, TOTALLY UNACCEPTABLE
The rifle has tripled in price since I paid, and is not available for purchase since DSG was the sole distributor. A company changing their stance and deciding to stop carrying a product in the future is fine. Cancelling orders paid for by customers over a month ago when DSG did carry the product is BREACH OF CONTRACT.
email me: ****@****"
"Same thing here...I ordered the TROY AR15 BEFORE Black Friday as DIck was PRESELLING these and then seems they oversold and UNDERPRICED and THEN USED THE CT Massacre as THE REASON to act politically correct and commit the tort of Breach of COntract...seems class actionable and if you want to join at least one of the lawsuits against Dicks check out AR15.com. There is a thread with information...absurd...to use the CT massacre as the basis to get out of a loss leading deal that was too big for Dicks...and word is that one of the board members is a staunch gun control supporter....seems like they are in the wrong business then...should change the name to DICKS OVERPRICED SPORTSWEAR AND BIKE SHOPS...the lying to customers???? Great Customer Service....NOT!!!"
"Never shop here!! After taking my money they decide they don't want to fulfill the order and issue a cancellation."
"I am very dissatisfied with my experience with Dick's after placing a black-friday order. They took my money and said wait 4-8 weeks to receive the rifle. After receiving no form of communication until this generic letter shows up cancelling my order. I called and spoke with Dick's Sporting Goods customer service representative who was rude, and offered no apologies and kept blaming Troy for the problem. While I understand Troy was unable to fill the order, I never purchased from Troy. My transaction was with Dick's, in response to Dick's black-friday sale.
I suggested the following resolution to the Dick's CSM: Seems fair for Dick's to offer a comparable $1099 rifle for the same black-friday price to those of us whose order's were cancelled. The Dick's CSM was short, rude, and ended the call."
"I had the worst expirence someone could ever have, I was the first person in line on Black Friday after waiting for hours I was told that they didn't have a single one of the Item I wanted. After placing a special order for the item and being promised that the Item would arrive within 2 weeks. 2 weeks passed, after calling both the store and corporate customer service, I was promised that I would get the Item, but it would be a few weeks later. On christmas eve I found a letter from UPS that said that they were unable to fulfill my order. I will never shop hr again, and I am going to do my very best to let everyone in the country know this."
"Terrible company. I will never step foot in here again. This company advertised a special for Black Friday for a gun. It was a Troy Carbine gun to be specific. They made this gun available via an order process at the price and ensured that they would have no problem ordering these and honoring the price. In fact, they did this same thing for many other items in their store during this promotion. They were upfront and made sure I knew that it could take some time for the gun to reach the store from the manufacturer. That was no problem for me. I applied for their company credit card. I specifically told the sales associate who ran my application that I wanted to apply for the store card only, and not the Mastercard that they offer because I didn't want the hard credit hit to be too much. He ended up running my application for the Mastercard instead, and my credit was hit harder than it would have been. I purchased the gun and have followed up with my local store multiple times and each time they said that it would be coming and they would be calling as soon as it is in. I went in the store on the 24th and the sales associate at the gun counter said "I can promise you your gun is still coming, we just haven't seen them yet." Another employee heard him say this and said she was going to go talk to a manager for a status update. Then she comes out and says that my order was being cancelled. I told her this was not acceptable. When I got home, I had a UPS package with a form letter from Dick's that said they were unable to fulfill my order and they would be refunding my money, and they were including a gift card for my trouble. This is NOT ACCEPTABLE. I passed up many other deals, waited in line for this deal, applied for a credit card just for this, and now they are cancelling my order because they sold more than they should have. A much better solution would be to offer me a similar product from another manufacturer, or give me some options so I can get what I paid for. I paid $800 for an item, waited an entire month while they had my money, and the only explanation that I get is that they are unable to fill my order in a prewritten letter. Completely unacceptable way to do business. In reading other forums, they sold thousands of these guns at this price and sent the same letter to everyone who bought one. The day before Christmas. They advertised the sale, had people standing in line for Black Friday and simply cancelled the items after the fact since they were losing money by selling more than they anticipated. They should not have taken people's money and promised the items if they couldn't deliver. Now these items aren't available ANYWHERE, and I passed up other deals to get in on this one. Something must be done."
