"This is the absolute worst company and I'm pretty sure it's all a scam. I booked a trip back in March and found out two months before I was set to leave that they had canceled my tour due to "low enrollment". Due to their policy, I was supposed to be able to be rebooked for a similar date. THEY RESCHEDULED MY TRIP 4 TIMES AND WERE UNABLE TO CONFIRM ME FOR A TRIP ALL 4 TIMES. They had my money for two months and were unable to rebook me each time, despite telling me I would be prioritized to be booked. They also kept trying to charge me an extra "adult fee" every time THEY had to reschedule my trip. I absolutely regret not canceling sooner, as they took 2-3 weeks each time I rescheduled to inform me that I wasn't able to be booked. In the amount of time I spent on hold and calling those incompetent clowns over the course of my rescheduling process, I would have been able to book my own trip a dozen times over.
Fortunately, I ended up being able to book a trip through G Adventures at the last minute. G Adventures was able to book me and get me a flight ticket in just an hour. G Adventures was able to do in ONE HOUR what EF literally could not do in TWO MONTHS. EF is literally a scam. Don't ever give them your money. "
"I don’t know what all the bad reviews are about with trips being cancelled and fees getting tagged on. I’ve booked 5 trips now with EF Ultimate and took another version of an EF trip in high school. Love the company, I always get responses to my chats and emails. The trips are amazing, the tour guides are always fun to hang out with and they’re very knowledgeable of the country you’re touring. I love the excursions and all the people I meet while on these trips! Super fun times!"
"I wanted to book a trip with them to celebrate my graduation. I booked it and the trip was pending approval for 6 weeks. I was told to plan that I would be going, purchased everything I needed and was told via email 4 days before they couldn't get me a spot. It was a short trip only 2 hotels and I honestly don't believe they even tried until the week before to get me a spot as I called almost everyday with different answers from everyone with no help. I was unable to book a tour with any other company at that point and it ruined what was supposed to be a happy occasion for me."

I saw their commercial on youtube, and Ive been wanting to travel for a long time.
I signed up for one of their trips to Australia this spring.
They canceled my trip due to covid, so I wanted a refund, but they charged me a $500 cancelation fee - even though they cancelled it not me
And they charged $2000 to my moms credit card, which we never agreed to. I just did the $21 placement fee. But they said I signed up for a monthly payment plan when I didn't. We had no idea they were even doing this. This is my MOM'S money, not mine. She's retired, and that's a lot of money. I'm a broke student, I've been saving up for a trip for years.
I thought that doing a group tour would be cheaper, and more fun. But I don't want to go on another trip with them, I don't trust them at all now.
They are a scam! They try to hide all of the terrible reviews about them online.
This company is extremely shady, and they deliberately scam people! "
"I booked a trip in 2019, it is now 2022 and I have given this company thousands without a penny returned. They have cancelled my trip at 4-5 times and yet I always have to pay fees to rebook. Their loophole is that they aren't actually cancelling, they are "postponing" so they won't refund you. This company is TERRIBLE. The agents don't inform you of fees you will have to pay as well. I regret booking with them so much! "
"I'd honestly give this 0 stars.. what an awful experience,cancelation fees are robbery, especially since they didn't even do anything, and the trip was far from needing anything booked. No flight etc... some hostels are gross and the supervisor was beyond rude. The travel protection is b.s my friend injured her ankle and they made her stay the full time regardless of the plan.. just stay away contiki is a much better option."
"I have travelled plenty on my own and with friends and family and I can truly say this is one of the most foolproof ways and most enjoyable ways I've travelled. Planning trips can be very daunting and difficult. Something as small as buying a train ticket in another language can be very difficult to do. EF takes the difficulty out of the picture. I went on the Eastern European trip and it was maybe our third day in Berlin and we (strangers who I quickly made friends with) decided to go out partying. We got absolutely smashed and stayed the whole night out. All we had to do was be in the lobby by 7 am. Then we slept like 5 hours on the bus and ended up in a whole new country. There was something to do every single day. One night in Prague we all went out, the next morning we had a free walking tour because I'm a FOMO I went. I was so hungover I had to leave early. I was not the only one who decided to stay back that day. The groups are small enough to get to know everyone but large enough that there is always someone willing to do what you are doing. For example, I love shopping, one day everyone wanted to go beer tasting, I was way too hungover to even think about drinking beer so I asked in our group chat if anyone wanted to have an easy day and shop. Someone did! Truly the only thing I had to worry about was making sure all my new things fit in my bag at the end of each city and making it to the lobby the day of our travelling at the designated time. If you are new to travelling, hate planning, just want to be drunk the whole trip and pushed around from country to country then this is the trip for you. Truly always something to do and new people to meet. Free walking tours nearly everyday, free breakfast almost every morning, amazing excursions to add on. 10/10 would recommend. "
"We went with a group of people on our trip and we’re told we’d receive a check for the group discount multiple times when we called , however EF has continued to dodge us and tell us their gonna send it , our trip was in July/august and we still have not received anything nor has our group received this discount check. I also referred a friend from work and EF has not provided me the referral offer at all and she booked several months ago. Customer service is horrible , bad enough that it makes you wish you didn’t use them for a trip, so beware of this prior to booking with them. "
"I’ve had such a horrible experience with them, which is extremely disappointing because I had thought that they were a great company originally. As someone who is immunocompromised and cannot get the covid vaccine, I have tried to cancel the trip for next year for 1) my own safety since covid doesn’t seem to be going away and 2) because some of the countries on my program now require a vaccine. I spoke with a manager (Abby) on the phone and she talked me into switching to a manual payment plan and waiting it out. What she didn’t tell me is that I would not only be charged a fee to switch to the manual payment plan but the date that she told me to check in is the date that I would be charged $1000 to cancel my trip. This program is a complete scam and I now just want my money back. Also, I’ve done the calculations and for the price of the trip, you can do everything that the trip includes, stay at 4-star hotels in the same cities, on the same days, and it is cheaper to do it by yourself by about $700. I really can’t believe I fell for this but I wasn’t thinking 2 years ahead at the time I booked the trip. DO NOT BOOK WITH THEM!!! It is completely not worth it. "
"Like many people looking to do solo or group travel, there was research that was done. While still skeptical on how the vacation tour would I decided to book with EF. They made the process so easy. I was able to chat, email and call them with any questions I had. Yes, there was times that it took a while to reach reps (were in a GLOBAL PANDEMIC PEOPLE!!!). At the end of the day I was able to get answers to all my questions. On tour everything went smoothly. We were informed before had on what to pack, what sites to see, places to eat and opportunities for extra excursions besides what was listed on the EF website. Our tour guide went above and beyond to have an amazing and memorable trip. I would absolutely book with them again."

"If you are on the fence about taking a trip with EF, DO THIS TRIP!! This was my first trip I took with them, after looking for 2 years, and I’m sooooo glad I decided to do it. The tour director, Tyson, was absolutely the best! He made sure everything was organized and planned out for us so we didn’t have to worry about anything. There is a lot of hiking with this trip since you’re going to national parks. Even if you’re not super active, like me, you’ll be fine because he gives you a lot of time at the trails and let’s you take your own pace. The views are totally worth the hikes, especially Delicate Arch. Do it, do it, do it!!!!"
"I booked a trip with them literally a few hours ago and then I got on to their Instagram account and panicked at all the comments I was seeing about their refund policy, how people aren’t getting their money back and warning everyone to not book with them. I was like “Wow, I need to cancel as soon as I possibly can. This isn’t good.” I emailed and called them and they got back to me relatively quickly. They said they would refund me fully minus the $21 non refundable deposit. So right now they are on my good side and customer service was pretty excellent. Now we wait for my refund, which apparently will take 5-7 business days to appear on my account. Maybe they learned their lesson and have loosened their policies because of the plethora of bad reviews. Again, we’ll see if I get that refund :) "
"I would not recommend using this company. My interactions with the people themselves has been lovely, but, I was charged an extra $120 because my credit card information that's attached to my auto-pay was stolen and the card was canceled. Instead of sending me any sort of heads up or notification that my charges weren't going through, they waited until the maximum amount of extra fees had been charged and only then notified me. $50 of the extra $120 I'm being charged was literally the cost to make a payment, according to the website. This seems to have zero thought of their guests in mind, super disappointing after working with so many friendly employees."
