"Hmmmm I purchased an Eagle Bit/Western Digital 500 gb drive last year, and its still working fine for me..I just need the updated USB Driver for it. But yeah works fine on my XP SP 3 Machine..No issues with it so far..;) Take care guys..wheelzny"
"Bought a Eaglebit 1T external USB drive (Part#EB-250-00165) It worked for a good while, but then slowly started to malfuntion. Knowing that yes its been a while I had a good idea this item wasn't covered under warranty any longer, but the main point I want to make here is what I found after scratching off the "warranty void if removed or tampered" stickers. I cracked the case open to test the hard drives and found 1) the mounting screws for the top drive were very loose and 2) the mounting screws for the bottom drive were cross threaded and forced into the mounting holes on the drive itself. You could tell that whoever installed the drive was either in a hurry, or incapable of installing the drive correctly.
Being in the IT industry over 15 years, you can ask anyone about how tight mounting screws are when they are released from the factory. Usually it takes some effort to gain access to certain components that have never been removed.
Now the real question is, because the drives were not installed correctly, has the vibration of these drives not being mounted correctly reduced the life expectancy of the unit?
Then last, just like most of you have posted, the drive are listed as "recertified".
As of today, eaglebit.com doesn't work. Go figure."
"I purchased an Eagle Tech hard drive enclosure last December which included a rebate. I sent the rebate form in, along with the receipt and UPC code. Several months later I checked the status of my rebate on their website and they claimed I did not send the receipt - but I had a photocopy of everything I sent them which included the receipt. I followed up with them but never received a response
In April I submitted a complaint to the BBB and shortly afterwards was contacted by Chris Chen at Eagle Tech. He claimed that he was unable to respond to my previous inquiries because they had the wrong phone number and emails to me bounced - but amazingly emails no longer bounced. He asked that I cancel the complaint to the BBB, and that my rebate was approved and would be expedited to me. I asked how I could be sure they actually would send me my rebate, and he assured me and gave me his word.
Another 10 weeks has gone by and I still have not received the rebate.
If you check their BBB rating, that have over 60 complaints against them. If you search the internet, you will see numerous people complaining about them not fulfilled their rebates. They are a very unethical company that should be avoided."
"I ordered 3 Terabyte hds with a couple of options (enclosures, cables, etc.) After I ordered I found out that I needed to make a change to the order. I tried calling the customer service phone number with no answering and no option to leave a message. I used the customer service email option with quick response and they handled my requests with no fuss. Cheap shipping to Hawaii. Quick shipment.
Thanks"
"Ordered a hard drive enclosure on June 5th for much cheaper than any other online store. I accidently made a mistake in my order and emailed customer service. Within one hour they responded and fixed it for me. Arrived in perfect condition and came within the time frame I paid for."
"I ordered a 500GB Eaglebit harddrive in September because it was a great deal and looked awesome. I am sad to say that it failed within 3 days of receiving it. I decided to RMA the device and sent it back in, and received my old harddrive that was supposedly fixed. But, it did not work again. I was very angry at them for them not actually fixing my device, and asked them for a refund but apparently they could not do that since it had been 5 months - which I think is preposterous because they had not sent me a working harddrive.
Now, I RMA'ed the device for the 2nd time and hoped something better would happen. They told me they would actually replace the harddrive this time. I waited a while for it and finally received it. It turns out that the harddrive actually worked but was not the model I ordered - this one was 500GB(the same as before) but was in a very bad case that seemed like it was not from Eaglebit. Well, turns out that this harddrive had someone else’s data already in it, including financial files, movies, photos and other personal data. I waited to delete the data because of this and actually received a call for Eaglebit saying they sent me the wrong harddrive. They told me to return it and I did but they would not send me my new harddrive until they received this one. So I wait another 3 weeks (time for RMA) and get my current harddrive but it turns out that this one also an OLD model that doesn’t seem like EagleBit made it and it also contains 400GB of data that is not mine including important photos, music, and videos. I have just contacted EagleBit about it and am very mad.
MY ADVICE: DO NOT BUY FROM THIS COMPANY

Eagle Tech inc.
DO NOT TRUST THEIR REBATES!
i am warning you guy who is able to read and understand what and why am i saying this.
DO A REsearch online 1st.

"I ordered a ET-CSNSU2-BK, external case, last November 2007. Although the rebate was approved, I've not seen a check. Multiple emails for status have not been responded to. They are way out of rebate compliance for sending the check within 12 weeks. DO NOT SHOP AT EAGLE TECH if you think you will get your rebate on time. You will not."
" Eagletech will do everything to decline your rebate and not to pay it. Just keep in mind next time when you decide to give them your hard earned cash. They will make you wait 12 weeks, they will give you only the option to contact them by email, after that they will respond to your status request and they will decline your rebate for bogus reason and they will not allow you to resubmit. If you find their number and decide to call, you will talk to a guy with thick accent who is either mumbling or speaking too low on purpose and the only thing he will tell you that he can't do anything."
"I ordered a Western Digital SE16 Caviar 500GB hard drive in an iNeo enclosure (Item # EB-250-00322). I received the item one week after ordering, which was a little longer than I expected, but not a big deal.
I opened the item to find that the enclosure was dented outward, as if it had been dropped. The dent chipped the paint. The hard drive had to be installed for the enclosure to be heavy enough to dent the case that severely. Also, there was no damage to the shipping box or the original manufacturer's box. The hard drive was double boxed, with packing peanuts and packed in styrofoam, so the damage happened BEFORE shipping. This was assembled by Eaglebit, so the "manufacturer's fault" excuse doesn't fly here.
I plugged up the hard drive and only the front enclosure light lit up (not the side lights), and it spun up for all of 30 seconds before dying. I opened the case to look for damage from the dent, and discovered that the hard drive was labeled "Recertified." There was no designation on the product page that this was a used drive. This was a blatant omission of the product's condition.
I am shipping this item back to Eaglebit. This review will be modified to be more positive/negative depending on the response I get. I am not optimistic from the reviews I have read so far, but I am going to withhold full judgment until I give their RMA process a chance to correct the issue."
"I bought a skylink Net1016 16 port Ethernet Switch for which I was supposed to receive a rebate of $29.99.
When I did not receive any intimation or rebate from them within 12 weeks I sent them an email. No response.
I call up the tel number on the invoice on Feb 19 and was told that a check was mailed. Waited till March 1st but still no check.
I called up on March 3rd and was told that I will have to wait 120 days till the expiration of the so called mysterious mailed check.
I will not buy from this Company again. "
"I bought a EagleTech ION PC case from Newegg & 2 EagleTech HDD enclosures from Micro Center. There were 3 separate rebates for $100, $19 and $15 respectively. I submitted 3 separate rebates with this company from 10-25-2007 to 10-27-2007. Delivery Confirmation from the post office shows that all three were received between 10-29-2007 and 10-30-2007. All 3 rebates stipulate that process time is 12 weeks. 12 weeks have passed and I have still not received my rebates. The company does not respond to emails (****@****) nor do answer the phone at the rebate hotline ***-***-****).
Lesson to be learned: keeping diligent records of all materials for rebates doesn't help when the merchant is dishonest. A quick look around this site & the web show that this company has a history of rebate noncompliance. Hopefully some of you can learn from my loss!
I've filed a complaint with the LA BBB & the California Attorney General's office."
"On January 26th I purchased two (Kingston KVR800D2N5K2/2G DDR2-800 (PC2 6400) 2GB 800MHz Non-ECC Unbuffered CL5 DIMM (Kit of 2) - Retail) for $99.90! By the January 29th I made a phone call asking whether my order had been shipped. After 5 calls where I was hung up on after several rings, I tried a 6th time and finally got through to someone. The CS staff member told me that the order would be shipped that day and an email would be sent with the tracking number. On the 30th I still had not received an email stating that the shipment had been sent. So I emailed their customer service and this was the response.
Dear customer,
Please note that the memory that you ordered is back order and we would like to substitute it with another item
Kingston KVR533D2N4K2/2G DDR2-533 (PC2 4200) 2GB 533MHz Non-ECC Unbuffered CL4 DIMM (Kit of 2)- Retail - $45.00
Do you want to accept the above substitution item?
Please advice.
Thanks
I responded to them notifying them that the substitution was unacceptable for the simple reasons that when I made the purchase the item was not backordered and their replacement offer not only was a lower quality then what I had ordered but it was also only one kit of 2 instead of the two kits that I originally paid for.
I would personally not recommend this company to anyone based on the lack of customer service reps and because of their obvious lack in comparitive computer hardware. There is also a lack of simple grammar in their replies which indicates to me that this company may not actually have a home base here in the US.
I will not use this company again in the future."
"Bought 2 GB (2x1) DDR2 400 MHz RAM, it shipped fast and works great. Very happy with this seller.
Since the first purchase worked out well, I decided to try it again and bought another 2 GB of RAM from them, again it shipped fast and works great.
Another thought, both packages were very well packaged, a lot of peanuts and a very spacious box, well protected for transit."
"I purchased a ET-CSWNASU2-BK NAS/USB enclosure from their sales site, EagleBit.com. Shipping was fast and the product was packed well. I had problems connecting to the drive from Vista systems and went to eagle-techusa.com, their distributor site. The support page had no knowledgebase/FAQ available. Googleing the problem uncovered a firmware update that resolved Vista issues. I e-mailed support to request a new firmware. I received no response. I eventually found a FW for the same chipset from another vendor and flashed the unit, so now my NAS browser interface shows as being from Conceptronic instead of Eagle-Tech. It is weeks later and I still have not heard from Eagle-techusa."
