"I bought 2 Durons from them with 10-14 day shipping with no insurance which was fine because I didnt need them ASAP but I had recieved nothing after that ammount of time so I called to see what was up and they emaied me saying they needed a photocopy of my drivers licence, credit card, and for me to sign a paper. I work for an online store and have bought many things before and this is the stupidist thing I have heard of. The Durons should have been shipped out the next day and been here already but they wernt. I called this morning and the guy there is a moron and I told him to cancel my order. Dont do buisness with these guys trying to save a buck go to someone who is reputable and spend the extra dollar"
"I will never do business with this company again. They are unresponsive and completely unprofessional.
I placed an order on their web site for a processor. Their order terms state that if you order on their site the order will take 24 hours to process. Well...
I placed my order on a Tuesday morning expeciting that it would process on Wednesday morning and ship that day. Well, I got a courtesy call Wednesday afternoon from a sales person offering me a fan and an extended waranty, I politly declined and he informed me that the processor would ship the next day. I asked why it wasn't shipping that day and he said the order had to process still. Instead or arguing, I said "OK, Thanks" and we hung up.
When I checked their web site THREE DAYS AFTER this call to see the status of my order it still showed my order as pending. I sent them an email telling them I was not please with the situation and they need to ship my order or I would canecl...I never received a response. So I called Monday. The sales clerk told me that it was a holiday weekend (the previous Thursday was the 4th of July) and that the shipping was slow. When I told him that I had ordered two days before the 4th he said hold on and put me on hold. When he came back he informed me that my order would ship tomorrow. I then said, "One week after I ordered it?" he said, "Well, yes." I then said, "Good thing I didn't pay for Next Day Air huh?" Though their advertised shipping rate on Pricewatch is deceptive.
Well, the order did ship. And I am still waiting for it 11 days after I placed my order.
Do yourself a favord and find someone with good ratings to shop with. If you are will ing to pay a couple extra bucks for faster shipping, or insurance, you should be willing to pay a couple extra buck to insure that you are doing busness with professional people.
You may get lucky with EconoPC. But I wouldn't bet on it. "
"This place is the worst! I ordered a barebone system, a mobo combo, and the super value combit kit on June 14th and it is now July 10th, and I have still yet to receive my order. I don't know what they are doing, but for sure, this has to be the worst website to order from. "
"Horrible Company. Do NOT BUY FROM THEM especially if you are buying a motherboard combo. If you want low prices they are great but in every other sense of the word company they are terrible.
I ordered a PC Chips 817LR Motherboard combo with and athlon XP 1500 cpu and fan and they sent me a motherboard that is DOA and THEY DO NOT TEST THEIR COMBOS.
Nothing I tried worked. And customer service was a joke.
Now lets talk about RMA. Besides the fact that it cost me $20 just to get a refund on something that didnt work, it took them 13 days for confirmation on the refund by the company since they recieved my package. They didn't even contact me to confirm it and I contacted them. I am still waiting for my credit card to confirm my refund. I'm trying to build a computer for someone with limited funds and that is hard to do when you have to deal with a DOA and a 17 day process to get your some of your money back.
The one thing that makes me mad is the fact that my exchange period has worn out on the ram and hard drive I bought from them and I haven't been able to test them because the computer I was going to use them on is the one I was building with the DOA MOBO. With the way this company works, who knows if these products work, for all I know, Im out another 150 bucks.
To sum it all up, this company sucks. Prices are great but you certainly get what you pay for.
UPDATE AS OF 9:29 7/15/02
One month after ordering I find out the OEM hard drive they shipped me doesn't work either. And of course, the cheapscate that I am, I didn't buy the extention on the warrenty. Luckily it was Samsung and they have 3 yr warrenties on hard drives."
"Ordered 3 CPUs: 2 fc-pga PIII 800mhz, and 1 slot1 PIII 800mhz. They sent 3 fc-pgas, good job.
Their english was a bit mediocre.. hard to have a conversation with. The CPU return and re-issue process wasn't as quick as it should've been."
"I ordered an AMD Athlon XP 2100+ and PC Chips M817LR CPU/motherboard combo. My order was shipped the next day. The prices were unbeatable in my opinion. Tech support was very responsive and customer-oriented when I called them about the problems I had with my motherboard. They informed me that the type of RAM I use should fix the problem. I have yet to try that solution, but I bet it will work.
Now, for the bad. The motherboard I bought might actually be dead. Since I haven't tried the RAM yet, I can't quite say. However, many other people have received DOA motherboards, including a friend of mine I met on a bulletin board aimed at EconoPC's poor products.
Furthermore, if you buy a DOA item, they'll charge a restocking fee. I'm going to return my PC Chips motherboard for a refund whether or not my motherboard works because they didn't even notify buyers that the BIOS needs to be upgraded on the motherboard I bought. However, if you'd like to buy from them, make sure the merchandise is not sensitive--buy a mouse, not a motherboard."
"I did not really purchase anything from them - BUT I thought you should know what I found out from their web site.
I think the shipping charge EconoPC advertises on PriceWatch is really fradulent
Econo PC advertises a set flat rate shipping fee which they will honor - BUT - that is for uninsured 16-18 day shipping. If the merchandise is defective, you probably cannot return it before their return period expires.
Here is the statement from their web site, "STANDARD 16-18 DAYS DELIVERY - UN-INSURED: Customer must understand that by choosing this shipping method, the customer acknowledges that he/she is waiving all rights to claim any damages to the package and the contents inside, as well as package or product loss during shipping. Customer is also releasing EconoPC from all responsibilities and liabilities once the package has been shipped from EconoPC's warehouse. Delivery time may be as long as 2 - 3 weeks and package tracking information may or may not be available. Customer also understands, accepts responsibility, and releases EconoPC from all liabilities of any warranties that may expire before the product is actually delivered to him/her. EconoPC may also require customer to sign the copy of the order and fax before releasing the order to protect itself from all liabilities. "
UPS ground shipping is about TWICE their advertised shipping rate.
SO - They advertise a shipping cost but that is for a service that any reasonable person would consider unacceptable and then offer what is normally considered minimumally acceptable service (UPS Ground) at twice the advertised price.
=====
Also unfair
From their web site fine print: "Once Credit Card is charged, cancelled orders will be charged a $45 order cancellation fee."
They do not say when they charge the card. So I order, they delay and delay shipping and it costs me $45 to cancel?"
"I bought a barebaones system from them. They said it would take 2-3 weeks, recieved product 4 days after I ordered with ground shipping. Dont know how they did it but it works great."
"Quote from zornot
"6/20/02 8:25 PM
Lowball cpu seller is near the top of the pricewatch list, but after I placed an order, was called to inform me that, unless I fork over another $19, they will sit on the order for 1-2 weeks before processing it. Also claimed that without the exta cash (bribe), the shipment was "uninsured," even though everyone knows UPS is in fact insured to $100 regardless. So, like always, they are working the bait and switch, lowballing pricewatch, then upping the ante."
Exact same thing here although they also wanted a copy of my drivers license with the extra boot. I have emailed them several times with no response. Today I emailed them again informing them I was cancelling my order and that I contacted my credit card company and will press charges if they attempt to use my credit card. Of course they won't be able to anyway because it comes from a debit account and I will be taking the money out in the morning. My order would have cost about 50 cents to add insurance through ups, they said it was $23. What ever you do, don't order from them!!!!!"

"Ordered a barebones Athlon with standard shipping. Got a call the next day from a very courteous and pleasant woman suggesting a better fan than the one I selected.
Everyone I talked to here was very nice, and I never had to wait for very long on hold.
I received the items about two weeks later, and the system was built very well, with clean wiring and attention to detail. The CPU and fan were attached nicely, and the low temps I'm getting from the CPU suggest that the techs at EconoPC did a fine job at greasing the CPU. There were no problems with it right out of the box, thanks to their testing.
I encountered a very minor problem later on, when I put some powerful hardware into the case, and the power supply couldn't keep up. That's fine, I went and got a powerful power supply to handle all my extra stuff. I expect that, for the average user, the power supply included would be adequate.
I've had nothing but great service from these people, and suggest them to anyone looking for a good deal on great hardware. I'll order from them again!"
"How can you beat this? Ordered at 3:30pm Thursday and got the Geforce4 Ti 4400 card Friday morning at 10am. Price was the best on Visiontek listed with Pricewatch.com. Will always check with them before buying anything again."
"I ordered a barebones 1800 xp system (ecs mobo, power supply, case, cpu) on 4-29-2002. I received it on 5-10-2002. It works great! I'm using it right now. I paid only $181 for it shipped to my door using pricewatch. Great price. As with most of these budget companies, the shipping is greatly inflated, but in the end, it still is cheap. Their order tracking does not begin until your order ships (no assembly status). Their barebones systems do take the full 6 business days to go out the door, don't expect it any sooner. I called them about 5 times to make sure that it was being built and they seemed to courteous every time (even though no one spoke English extremely well). I did send an email, but no response 7 days later. If you're short on cash, this may be the right place. All in all, I would say this company is worth buying from, especially if you don't have the money to pay the extra cash to order from a place with a high rating like newEgg."
"I ordered a Barebone system through pricewatch. All I have to say is, they have excellent prices and a pretty good customer service compared to some of these other Internet computer companies I've ordered from before."
"
Today is May 23rd. I placed my order on 04-12-02 and am still going through a nightmare with this company!!
Beware to order at your own risk.
They debited from my account $40.00 UNAUTHORIZED!! They owe me $240.00 and the latest thing that I am being told is that it will be credited back to my account by my next bank statement.
It's been 1 month since my order and since this company has taken my hard earned money and I still am not up and running and do not have all of my product!
I ordered an XP1800 Motherboard Combo(ECS), and an extra Heavy Duty fan with an extended warranty. The shipment came in timely but the first problem was that the board was supposed to have an on-board NIC, which it didn't, so I had to change the jumpers because they were set for the NIC. I was just going to use a PCI NIC that I had.
The next problem was that I couldn't get 4 different Operating Systems to function with this Mobo and Processor! The Bios sucks in this Mobo first off, it doesn't tell me the exact Processor Speed and barely has any settings at all, which I wouldn't have cared about if the thing would have worked. I called and got and RMA, sent the processor and board back weeks ago. I finally called and said, "send me the processor back and keep the motherboard. How much will you credit me for the Motherboard. Without going into details, let's just say that I lost money and lost out big time.
I am still at current waiting for the credit on my bank account and still waiting for the processor to be shipped back to me.
I am a very patient person but this is just ridiculous. I wasn't even going to post this, but even I have my limits."
