"This is a horrible site to buy from. Went to purchase a processor and after almost 2 weeks it is STILL being processed. I have made several attempts to e-mail them and even gave them phone numbers to contact me and I have heard NOTHING. Not 1 email or 1 phone call. I will NEVER so business with these people in the future and I suggest others steer clear also."
"If only I knew of resellerratings before doing business with this trash. I'll be brief: ordered a CPU/MB combo, was late in shipping, told me they were testing it (obviously not), DOA, returned for refund, and eventually got back $30 from the $115+ I spent. Their CPU also burnt out my other MB, so more cost. They claimed I damaged the CPU, which is bull. These guys engage in FRAUD--they promise a warranty, but all their small print negates anything you would return the item for. Let me put up the websites again--let's keep these fresh: Better Business Bureau, Illinois: www.chicago.bbb.org; and the Illinois Attorney General: www.ag.state.il.us. Good luck to all--that's what it takes to get good service from these guys--anyone who posts positive must either be lucky or a SHILL!"
"STAY AWAY FROM THESE PEOPLE AT ALL COST I ORDERED 150 DOLLARS WORTH OF PARTS PAYED A INFLATED SHIPPING COST ON THEM AND BY THE TIME I PAYED FOR SHIPPING RMAS AND REPLACEMENTS I WAS UP OVER 300 DOLLARS. THEY DO NOT ANSWER THEIR CUSTOMER SERVICE LINE OR EMAILS. PLEASE CALL BBB OF IL IF THEY HAVE GOT YOU. BBB IS UNDER THE IMPRESSION THEY DO GOOD BUSINESS. THESE PEOPLE ARE VERY BAD"
"I hate this company with a passion. They really (What vocabulary can I use on these reviews?) screwed (to be polite) me over. These losers tried to defraud me, by sending me 2 Athlon XP processors- when I paid for 2 Athlon MPs -- for those not informed, the XP costs half as much as the MP. Not only that, but I paid extra to have it rush shipped--- and the processors got here late. They didn't label the boxes, when I tried these processors, they fried my dual motherboard. I am now out about $700 of equipment, as my motherboard and ram are shot. EconoPC refused to assist me in this mess. They didn't even want to give me an RMA- they wanted to charge me 15% restocking fee AND only refund the market value of the processors. They didn't care that I now a)had no computer because of them, and b)lost money since they sent the processors late, and I couldn't get the project that I ordered them for done. I hope they rot in hell."
"I placed an order for a CPU/fan set plus a few other parts. I found they had the best price for a 2400+AMD at pricewatch.com. I clicked through and saw the discounted price. Fine, but I didn't add it to my cart. I wanted to continue shopping and look around. I added the other parts first, clicked back to the cpu's and added the chip not realizing that I was now not receiving the discounted price. The pages are so similar I didn't even notice what happened until after I placed the order. I then came here and read about a lot of the other problems people were having so I decided to cancel my order. Instead the salesperson was nice and assured me that they would lower the price to pricewatch.com's and the order would be shipped promptly. I had ordered by 5 to 7 day ground.
I was pleasantly surprised to see that my credit card was charged the lower amount and the parts were shipped 2nd day with no extra charge. Everything seems to be in working order and now up and running.
No complaints other than the way their webpage’s work. I should have double checked the price anyway.
"
"What a nightmare!! Bought an Athlon XP2100+ for $79.00 OEM. CPUID as well as WinXP Pro show it as an Athlon XP 1500+ @ 1.33 Ghz. Followed the RMA to the letter and haven't heard or seen a thing in two weeks. I saw their signature for it at UPS.COM, so I KNOW they got it. IL AG's office is getting my form this week, BBB already got an earfull. Pricegrabber, Pricewatch, etc.. should all take this seller off their merchant lists.
Maybe I'll take a ride to sunny Illinois and pay 'em a visit? Would LOVE to meet these jokers face to face...."
"This is the last time I buy something without checking reseller ratings first. I have had the same problem with this company that a lot of others had. I ordered a CPU/mboard combo on Sunday 02/23, hoping to have it by the next weekend. On Wednesday night, I got a call from them trying to sell me up - better CPU, better heatsink, better shipping, etc. After telling them to just ship what I ordered, they said they would complete the order and send it out. Well, the order did not ship until 8pm 03/05. It finally showed up on 03/10 - 15 days after I placed my order. When I opened the box, I found that the fan on the heatsink was broken, and was obviously broken before they put it in the box to ship. After replacing the fan, I installed the CPU and board, booted up and found that instead of the 1.67 ghz Athlon XP that I ordered, I have a 1.25 ghz. I have sent an email to EconoPC, and will update this post when i get their response."
"Ordered 2 barebones kits -("econoswift"/pricewatch search)
Ad showed $5 shipping charge (usps with no insurance option). I placed the order 2/22/03. Two days later I received a phone call from econopc asking me to upgrade the shipping (+$50). I refused and they said I must complete a release form and fax it to them. When I received the form via email it also asked for a scan of my drivers license and credit card. OK, I faxed it. About a week later I called to check on my order. They said they never received the fax. Well, to make a short story long - after about 6 faxes, emails and phone calls (10 days), they finally agreed to ship my order BUT they said it would take another 10 days to "burn in" the system before they would ship it.
Now it's 2 weeks later and I haven't received the order and their web page still says "processing".
This is clearly BAIT AND SWITCH. They don't want to ship at the Pricewatch advertised price. They want you to upgrade the shipping ($29 per unit) before they will ship.
Avoid this merchant at all costs."

"This company is the worst. Stay away from them at all costs!"
"I finally decided to send a complaint form to pricewatch and also i filed an official report with the better business bureau of illinois, it seems these guys only understand brute if you want to get your money back. I got an 810LM MB with an Athlon XP thoroughbred which isn't infact supported by the MB although on the invoice they said they did a burn in session and assembly, now im stuck with a cpu that runs 500Mhz slower then i paid for and since shipping took 2 weeks and another 5 days to finaly realize that i got shafted with the wrong processor the return policy has expired and there is no way in hell im paying $35 to return crap and not get an even exchange. Not only have they hung up on me during tech support calls but sinc ei live in MN its costing me long distance charges to stay on the line in hopes if getting some info. I suggest we get as many ripped off consumers as we can to file complaints with the BBB of illinois at this link, http://www.chicago.bbb.org/, also try filling complaitns with pricewatch and costupdate.com to have them removed from the list and provide a link to this resellertating forum. Stay away from these guys at all costs. Nothing but scam artists!"
"I found this site after purchasing my combo amd 1800 cpu and mobo offer for much cheaper than other sites. After reading the reviews i was scared to say the least. I placed my order over the phone and was offered the warranty fan upgarde as others have been, They did take a while to ship about 2 to 3 weeks although i did use ground shiping so thats to be expected from almst any company. The computer runs fine exactly what i ordered and no complaints at all. Salespersons were helpfull and polite even on repeated calls to check the status of my shipping.
Most of the complaints i see are due to lack of information on the part of the consumer, not to say they couldnt be more helpfull, but for me they did a great job. overall good price good product a little lenghty on the shipping.
----sidenote---
most of the complaints i see are due to users changing orders or faulty devices, neither of whcih the company can do much about, if you change an order 10 days after you can only expect this will add tot he shipping dates, and as we all know many mobo's and cpu's come broken from the original maker, now its always nice when they return or efund you easily and i would say the majority of the problems come from the inability of the telepohone operators to speak english properly. thats a big minus when dealing with english customers. as 99% of us are not pakistani
btw i dealed with sales person DJ .. who was very helpfull, on the subject of credit card authorization . the company cant ship a computer to an address that isnt on the credit card this is for your own protection and any company who doesnt ask for verification is shady to say the least. i did have to phone my credit card company to have my home address added to the credit card, most problems occur when users DONT do this before hand.
In response to the previous post, unless they have changed there shipping methods when i ordered i was able to track my computer as it was shipped from city to city and they changed this 3 times as it shipped . Very helpfull and much appreciated :)"
"Let's see here. I ordered a barebones box for a customer of mine. I ordered on January 1, 2003. They charged my credit card, two days later, so I thought it would be shipped promptly.
I sent them an email the following week, wondering when it was going to be shipped. This company does not answer emails at ANY of the email addresses they have posted on their site. No response, nothing. And they do not update your status on their website, until the item gets delivered to your door.
So, then someone from their company calls me, and tries to get me to buy an "upgraded fan" for the computer, at 20 bucks extra. I said no thanks, I just wanted what I already had ordered.
A few days later, I tried to telephone them. Busy, busy, busy. The next day I finally got through to someone, and by this time, I was pretty angry. They put me on hold for 30 minutes, and different people kept answering the phone, and asking what I needed. Nice people, but unorganized it seems. So, after 45 minutes, the woman confirmed that it would go out "tomorrow", and that the ECS mainboard was on backorder, that was causing the delay. I told her it would have been nice to call me and tell me this.
So, I get the system in, and everything looks cheap like I expected. But I open the box, and notice that there is no CPU fan, or heatsink. And I paid for one.
So, I call them back, and they send me this cheap fan that I paid alot for (what a ripoff).
I endup using a fan I had laying around that was much better quality than the one they sent me.
I finally get the system built for a customer, who is wondering why his computer hasn't been shipped, and everything works good.
Overall, they take forever to ship. I will never use them again for building computers for a customer. Also, their shipping fees are outrageous. I ship alot via UPS and FEDEX, and they take the actual cost, and triple it, then they charge you that fee.
I didn't get all the parts, and I had to call them to get the fan sent to me. Luckily I had one on hand, so that I could send the machine out to my customer instead of waiting another week for econopc to send me a fan.
They are the cheapest price on pricewatch because they use deceptive shipping costs. If you call them, and ask for their cheap shipping cost, you get no insurance, and it takes over a month for delivery. That is enough for me to get their overpriced UPS ground method.
I think they should be banned from pricewatch.

"Vendor gave me the run-around, then promised a ship date on RMA (for defective CPU). In the end, they wouldn't honor the extended warranty I purchased as per the pushy salesperson.
bye-bye EconoPC..."
"Saw the cheap price for an AMD1700 combo. I get a call from a sales person; push me to buy their upgraded fan. I know it is a joke and declined. He starts BS me about: This regular fan will waive your AMD warranty... Then he asked me to sign a release form for my uninsured delivery. 'Where is the form?' I asked. 'I will send to you by email'. No email. 1st Call, 'I will send you within an hour'. 2nd Call, 'I will send you right away'. 24 hours later, 3rd call, 'I am sending it now!'. Finally, I got a mail! When I open it, this sales1 person forgot to attach the form! Call, call, call, finally I got a form this morning. I have to copy my driver's license and credit card. Two days of calling just to get a form. Now let the waiting begin!
[Update]
I called again to check the status. There are still problems: address won't match (although I called the credit card company), card picture too dark (my CC is black)... I upgraded the shipping to $20. To be fair, I would say they are trying to provide quality services. My calls always come through promptly, and they treat me politely. Their English is good enough for me. They just have a very bad business model.
[Update]
I called again, and they don’t remember I upgraded my shipping! I call back again and my order is shipped. What a pleasant surprise! Eight days after ordering, 12 phone calls and 3 faxes. I must say, these people are sincerely trying to do business. They are not cons. They need a manager who has real business experience. If you have a lot of time and want to save few bucks, give this company a try. Also, if you have a MBA degree, send them a resume.
