"This was my 1st and only order with these crooks. During the order process all went smoothly. I submitted my credit card data, clicked OK and was shocked at the S&H cost of over $19 to send a mobo-combo,7-day ground with UPS. And the mobo was DOA. Got an RMA from their web site. The wording was verbose and full of threats. These people are nuts.

"It seems they're running a scam. I ordered and received a call a few days later. Even though the site said the CPU I ordered was "In Stock", they said they didn't have any and didn't know when they would come in. Then they proceeded to pitch an upgrade which they did have in stock for $30 more. Exactly a week later, I received a call basically giving the same pitch. I promply cancelled the order."
"AVOID THESE PEOPLE! I ordered two Athlon MP 2000+s from Econopc. I opted for 2nd day Air service at a whopping $40 shipping. I didn't think it was a big deal since I wanted everything post haste and expected the merchant to ship it that day. Well four days had passed and it hadn't arrived. I got a call from them on the 4th day from a DJ in sales. He asked me if I wanted to buy their cooling kit which included thermal grease, a heatsink, etc. Its funny but on their order page you have to uncheck that box so they won't add on that charge per processor to you @ 30 for each cooling kit. So I already turned them down on it then they have the nerve to call me up and ask me if I want to buy it. It turns out they hadn't even processed my order yet and will be shipping it out the next day! Then he tries to sell an extended warranty on me. So I'm ticked at this point. Don't do business with these people, they're cheap but expensive on shipping and they send it when they want to. They suck but not nearly as much as upgrade-solution.com"
"Ordered a processor end of July. By first week of August still had not arrived yet, even though I had 5 day delivery. Called EconoPC and asked about it, said they didn't know where it was, and I should ask UPS. Upon further questioning of rep found out that THEY put down the WRONG shipping address on the invoice, even though they managed to put it down right when they billed me. "
"I ORDERED an Athlon XP 1800+ Kit via Pricewatch.com
Here is my email to them canceling my order 3 days later when then wanted me to send them copies of my driver's license and Discover card (via fax/mail)

Problems I have with EconoPC
#1) your site states (and I quote)
"Orders placed after 4:30pm CST will be processed the next business day. Please allow an additional 24 hours for all on-line orders."
I placed my order EARLY Monday (Sept 30th, 2002) and was NOT contacted about it until 10AM (PST) on Thursday (Oct 3rd, 2002). I would HARDLY call that processing with in 48 hours!
#2) Your Pricewatch "AD" states "Assembly and TESTING" as part of the purchase. When I was contacted on Thursday I was told I would NOT receive "testing" because I did NOT purchase a "cooling fan" from EconoPC
#3) The attachment you sent me to "sign" states (and I quote)
"I also understand that the delivery may take 15 or more days"
This statement conflicts with everyother statement on EconoPC.com and Pricewatch.com pertaining to EconoPC's shipping time. They all state 10-14 days for STANDARD shipping.
#4) I will NOT send you copies of my Driver's License and Credit Card. This is incredibly rediculus! I have NEVER had to send copies of any ID to any other company I have ever delt with over the internet... and I refuse to start now!
#5) The "cooling fan kit" you offer with the barebones system is comprised of a Thermaltake Volcano 5. This fan (acording to Termaltake's website) is NOT rates for an Athlon 1800!
#6) I work with UPS at my business. ALL UPS orders are insured up to $100, then they charge .35 per each $100 of additional insurance. You are gouging the customer with SUPER inflated rates!
CANCEL my order. ANY and ALL charges from EconoPC to MY Discover Card WILL be challenged.

"Placed order at 5:48pm CST, 9/30/02 and paid a premium for a AMD 2400+ plus a premium for NDA service of $42. 24 hours later the order still has not been processed. I cancelled my order. If these moronic venders are not going to process my order in a timely manner when I'm willing to pay a premium for a new product as well as NDA, then they're not going to get my business. I conduct business on MY terms--not theirs."
"If only I had found this site before I ordered. I ordered a bare bones system on the 5th of September, well now it's the 24th and the order is still "processing". It is impossible to get through on the phone and they have not replied to any emails. The price looked good on pricewatch, but then the price goes up with ridiculous delivery charges and 50$ for heatsink/fan combo??? They are all too happy to take your money instantly yet their customer service appears non existent. I will be cancelling my order if only I could get through to them. In the UK it is even illegal to charge your credit card til the goods ship.
This company can be summed up by their contact numbers, freephone 9-6pm for sales, long distance 10-4pm for customer service (if they pick up)."
"Update. I finally received my order after 2 weeks. It was a CPU/MB combo. It works, but is very unstable. I can't get in touch with them. Rather than go through all the trouble of returning it, I've bought myself another cpu/motherboard combo from newegg.com. It arrived in two days, and I am very pleased. As far as EconoPc goes, I would suggest that you try somewhere with descent ratings. It's not worth going through all the trouble to save a few bucks. Places like newegg.com sells hardware for a couple of more bucks, but you get a much more pleasant experience."
"I ordered a barebones kit on Aug 4. I got the unit about a week later. There was a problem with the motherboard. I called them and was told that I could send it back, so I completed the RMA form on their site and sent it back. I waited for it to get delivered and then about another week and my Discover card had not been credited. I called them and was told to call their customer service number (not toll free). I attempted to call their CS number about 6 times over the next 2-3 days. Every time the phone was busy. I sent three emails and never received a response to any of them. I then called their toll free number and told them I was having problems with my RMA. I was promised that I would get a call back that day. No call back. I did this two more times and was promised callbacks twice...no callbacks. About two more weeks have now elapsed and I have spoken to no one that has done anything. I called back again and was told by someone that they would take care of my problem. A few days later my Discover Card was credited $40 for a $69.00 motherboard (the RMA stated a 15% restocking fee). I was expecting $59.46. I called them about this and was promised a callback (this time I gave a time I would expect a call by)...no callback. Called them again...promised a callback, nothing. I called again and spoke with one of the supervisors and he told me that since I bought the motherboard in a barebones kit I would only get $40.00 back. Frustrated, I told him that I give up and that his company has no customer service skills whatsoever and that I was promised over and over that something would be done and it wasn't. I told him that I would spread the word on the TERRIBLE experience I have had with this company and advise everyone I can not to do business with them.
This is what I am doing now. You get what you pay for, and you certainly don't pay for customer service here.
Steer clear and stay away from EconoPC."
" THEY DO NOT RESPOND TO ANY EMAILS WHATSOEVER! That is the absolute worse thing about these people. I've sent them well over 10 emails about my order. I bought a bare bones kit from them on the 5th of this month. It's the 16th and they still haven't even processed it. YET, their website says all orders are processed in 24-48 hours. They can charge the credit card in a single minute, but they won't process or ship for a decade. The shipping said $19 flat rate. But then they say bump it to $40 for insurance. I couldn't call because by the time I get home from school, they close. It's not like they do actual *work* anyway. My dad is a carpenter, and some of the houses he works on don't even have phones in them. So he took a little while from his schedule and called. They told us to send in a copy of drivers license and credit card, along with a signature. They suspect me being a fraud and vice versa, as you can imagine. The authentication methods do *not* at all fit in with the "buy it quick on the net" mindset. It's been well over a week and I decide to send them in anyway through email. NO REPLIES YET. I tried again today. For the love of God, please respond to my email!!! I swear, if I get bad goods... I'm going to raise hell.
DoN't BuY fRoM hErE."
"No order confirmation email. I had no record of who I had ordered with. They submitted the charge to my card on a Monday (I ordered on Sunday). I had paid $40 for overnight shipping, and on Wednesday when I called - "Sorry sir, your order has not been processed yet". They had my money for two days, and were complaining about my expectation for same day service when I paid an exhorbitant price for overnight processing. I would strongly discourage anyone from using this company for any transaction. I have contacted my Credit Card company, and am disputing the charges to my card based on their failure to deliver in an appropriate timeframe, as well as protect myself from the possibility of restocking fees on a DOA product. People like this should not be in business, and I'll gladly see them fined by the Credit Card company for their poor customer service."
"**Slow Shipping**
I ordered an AthlonXP 2000+ from EconoPC on August 26, 2002. I wanted it somewhat quickly, so I chose 3-Day air. Well, I figured I would get the processor that week since they say their orders process within 24-48 hours. That was not the case. Apparently there was a problem with my credit card's zip code, but they didn't call for 5 days. I worked out the zip code error, and they said it would ship that day. Called back the 3 days later, it didn't ship. Finally on September 3 (9 days after I ordered), they said they would get it to me by Friday, the 6th (12 days after I ordered it). I called on the 4th to see if it had shipped and it didn't. They said they would ship it on the 5th, and upgrade my shipping to next-day air to get it to me by the 6th. I was skeptical, but it actually came...12 days after I placed the order. The merchandise seems to be correct, but I can't test it yet to make sure it works. I'm praying/assuming that it does. So if they worked on their shipping procedures, I think their rating would be higher. "
"Haven't purchased anything from these guys, but just wanted to say THANK YOU!!!! for posting all of your comments about this company. I too found them on Pricewatch, great price for what I need (a couple of OEM CPUs). Would have placed the order if I had not seen this website. "
"I odered the PCchips Motherboard with XP 1700+ from Econopc. I installed the mobo and all my parts and booted up the computer. I got many warning beeps and wouldn't load the OS. I then lowered the Bus speed to 100Mhz and it worked but the CPU was only a 1 ghz not a 1.4 ghz. I called the company many times (all the time getting a busy signal, getting through on the 4th or 5th try) and the person said i need to get brand name memory, in which i did for an extra 50 bucks.
I called after i installed the DDR and the mobo still didn't work at 133mhz bus. I called agian, and this time i had to upgrade the BIOS. Still didn't work. Agian I called, problem still not resolved. Finannly i called and they said to sent it back to them for testing. it came back 3 weeks later due to "backorder" or whatever they call it. I installed it all again and i had a problem and it didn't work. I sent it back once again. This time they said that I had burnt the CPU but i hadn't done anyting to ruin it. I had a choice to repair it for 40 bucks or they would send it back. I chose to send it back rather that dealing with them some again. I have now waited 2 weeks and it still hasn't arrived. Thanks for nothing EconoPc. The name says it all Economy class all the way. I will never recomend you agian or use your crappy service. BTW get some more people in customer service."
