"Made the mistake of not thinking about what and who I was buying from. When I got the phone call to confirm my order, I called the "800" number 8 times and was put on hold for as long as 10 minutes. I tried to contact them by email and they would only say, call the "800" number--never ever use these people again."
"A horrible company to do business with.
How they operate: After placing an order expect a call or email asking you to "confirm" your order. This is a gimmick to try to high-pressure sell you on something else. In my instance it was an extended warrty. When I declined a 3yr warranty the tried to sell a 1yr. After decling that they wanted to know if the "$20 was too much money for me". After telling them for the third time, that I wasn't interested, they said I was rude and cancelled my order. When I asked to speak to a supervisor "Sam" said he WAS the supervisor. When I asked who he reported to, he said no one. HE runs the company. I have read other reviews that have this same theme. They bait you with a low price then try to high-pressure sell you want you don't want. "
"Buyer beware! This is SCAM!! I am cooperating with the appropropriate authoriitis in a wide-scale fraud investigation. They sent me a camera I did not order, charged me for it and even after I refused delivery the money was not refunded. I have called over 12 times and everytime they tell me they will refund the money but it does not show up! After months of frustration, I did some research to find out I was one of many victims and this company is being investigated for National Fraud practices. BE WARNED! "
"It's the first time I buy from a business with so poor practices. I ordered a Sony camera on their website. It was a supposely interesting deal as they included a tripod and some other goodies. Well, not so good. I got to call to confirm my orders only to meet pushy salesman Ed trying to sell me accessories for this "Canon" camera (despite it's Sony) and an extended warranties because otherwise the camera would be set in chinese and would come with chinese warranty (despite their website mentions "USA warranty"). I know all these products can be reset in another language through the settings so I didn't buy that. However I didn't know if a charger was included so I ordered that. Ed was pushy as there was 100 customers on the line according to him.
The order was ready and as the price was still interesting, I thought that was fine despite I would never order again from this site.
Hours afters, I got an email saying my credit card was declined for some reasons so I took the opportunity to cancel the order and receive the cancellation confirmation.
Today I found out I have the amount of my order pending on my credit card. I called my credit card company and they say it's just pending but a dispute will be open if I am charged. I'll have to wait a couple of days to see that.
So to make the story short, althought my card was "declined", they were able to process it. As of today, I don't know if I will be charged for a cancelled order. These guys have very unethical practices and will probably make you think twice before completing another online order at an unknown shop.
Edit: Credit card was not charged after all so it only ended up as a frightening experience. I'll be more careful next time. "
"I regret deeply to shop from Fotoconnection, since I recently bought a digital camera, a Canon. They truly manage, even commit, to make you feel like a stupid from buying them. First, they trap you with a low price for any camera thru the web. You check the specifications and then confirm your order. Then they start to put their cheating scheme on the stage: they give you a phone call telling you what you chose was not good enough and you need a better battery and a charger. They incur you another 40-60 bucks. If you try to reject their offer, they discourage you saying "what you bought is nothing, it is even with a Chinese manual". Yet if you try to cancel your order then they threat to charge you with a cancellation fee. I was finally obligated to accept their offer and they completed their robbery making me pay another 50 bucks for the charger for which I had paid for. When I told them it was already in the specification sheet at their web site. They told me "oh no... they transferred the specifications from the Canon automatically. It is standard. But your charger is not that one. The price you selected is with a starter battery (!)". Their scheme basically bases on attracting customers with a cheep price and charging additionaly for standard batteries. I started a case against this P.O. Box Company in NY. We will see."
"I placed a large camera order and was extremly happy with the cost. Of course, then I had to go through the phone sales pitch and "confirmation". I was given good advice on changing some of my order but they failed to mention that what they were offering me was not Cannon brand accessories which it what I had originally ordered. They kept pressuring me to click the agreement before all of my questions were answered to my satisfaction so "they could ship my order". When I finally got my stuff (a week and a half later although I was promised 2 day air express) they had sent me the wrong camera and there were things missing from my order. It took two days to get the return authorization. They received my return on a thurs. Monday I called to ask when I would get the correct camera and they said they would put a rush on it since I had already paid money to take a class to teach me how to use it to its fullest. Wed when I called again they said they would send it out that day and guarunteed it would be here before Sunday. Well,it is midnight on Sat and I still do not have my camera. They now owe me not only my camera but also a refund on the shipping to return the first one I had to send back plus the money I spent on the class that I cannot attend because my camera isn't here yet.
Although the prices on the web look good the sales pressure and incompetent customer service outweigh the discounted prices.
I will never order from this company again. They are not honest and their customer service stinks!!"
"Pretty website, but so are spider webs. Stay away from this store. I ordered a camera, which the website said was in stock. After 5 days my order status was still showing as 'being processed' so I called to check and was told that the battery that comes with the camera was only good for 30 minutes and that I should buy a 4 hour battery for only 69 dollars. I found out later (from the manufacturer of the camera) that the 30 min battery story was not true. I was then guaranteed that the camera would be delivered by a certain date which did not happen. When I called a couple days after the promised date I was told that the camera was not available. When I tried to cancel the order I was told that it would ship the next day even though I had just been told that the camera was not available. After what amounted to a shouting match over the phone I was able to get the order cancelled. I also had the credit card company reverse the charge and I then filed a complaint at the website for the New York State Attorney General's Office. You can find their website via google. Lesson learned..check store ratings BEFORE shopping online. "
"I’m a little disappointed because I was placed on hold and transferred several times. When I finally reached somebody it was to my astonishment that my order was already shipped out an hour after I placed it. And what surprised me even more is that the day after I placed the order my order arrived with a private trucking company who brought the washer/dryer straight in to my basement. Later that week I guess they caught on that they didn’t sell me anything extra; I got a phone call from them trying to sell me a warranty, I politely declined and the phone call ended in less then 30 seconds. All in all they exceeded all my expectations. But after reading all these reports I’m a little unsure as to weather they had a glitch in the system or they ship all orders so quick and without any problems."
"This is my second report on Reseller Rating in regards to Fotoconnection.com My first experience with them was not satisfactory, and I was pretty upset because they tried to sell me warranties and all kind of crap. They also told me that the item I ordered was not in stock and offered me an American model. Which was $40 more then the one I ordered apparently an internet model. And when I tried to cancel my order they told me that there would be a %15 restocking fee for merchandise that didn’t even ship out. So I decided to keep my order and waited a week till the original item I ordered would be available. Approximately 8 days later from the day I first spoke with them they called me and informed me that my item had shipped. They upgraded my shipping to overnight for free due to the delay. But when it arrived I was very satisfied with the packaging and it was exactly what I had ordered. So last week I placed an order with them again. This time is was for a microwave. I went through the same procedures and after declining all their offers as I did last time the salesman told me “ok sir thank you for your order it will ship tomorrow.” Several days later the microwave arrived. So thus far my experience with Fotoconnection.com has been OK. They work hard to sell extra accessories but then again so do all other companies. All in all they deliver and on time. All I suggest is that if you are shopping with them if you are not interested in any extras just tell them no to each offer and eventually they will process your order and get it shipped. I am in the market for a Digital Camera and will most likely place that order in a week. I will post another review about my experience with them. "
"Bad company that does false advertisement. They increased the price when I declined all their "extras". Even though the "customer service" seemed to accept my refusal, their "credit card verification" page showed a price that was more than they agreed to verbally and on their initial advertisement page. They refused to cancel, and I had to alert my credit card company."
"I had very bad experience with these guys. They were trying the same tricks as other people describe and they would not let me cancel the order saying it already went to shipping dept. I blocked my credit card instead. I do not believe that what they do is legal. I recommend staying away from these guys."
"These folks are operating a bait and switch operation. They are horrible. They are aggressive and nasty. They 1st bullied me into paying more that the price after having made the order on the pretext that I was not getting US models with warranties at the advertised price.
They then promised quick delivery and shipping to make up for it. I then cancelled the order when they kept saying the items had been shipped but would not provide shipping references or tracking info. Upon cancelling they charged my credit card and then rushed to ship the items depsite my telling them that the order was canceleld and I would refuse shipment.
They are threatening restocking fees etc. These people are terrible."
"DO NOT BUY FROM THESE CLOWNS. Like the saying goes, if it sounds too good to be true, it probably is. We attempted to purchase an Epson Stylus Pro 4800 on 4/10/07 for the rock bottom price of $1591. I should have known right then that it was a scam. On 4/13 I received an e-mail requesting a phone call for order confirmation. When I called I was told that the printer I order was refurb but I could get a new one for about $1800. I needed to printer so I went ahead and confirmed the new order. On 4/30 still no printer. I called and was told that they had to special order the printer but that they would expedite shipping at no cost. Upon checking the their web site I found that the item showed in stock and NEW for the $1591 price. I called back to get the lower price. Before I could even finish telling the CSR my issue he told me he'd cancel the order. I told him I didn't want to cancel, I wanted the printer at the price they advertised. He then gave me a song and dance about needing to clear my cookies to get the updated page that showed out of stock. Then he claimed that this brand new product that just came out had been discontinued 2 years ago. He was very aggressive and not pleasant at all. HE ended up telling me that he was canceling my order and hanging up on me. About 5 minutes later the printer was removed from their web site entirely.
Total scam operation, I am surprised that anyone has been able to get anything actually delivered."
"DO NOT ORDER FROM FOTOCONNECTION!!! I ordered a Sony Cyber Shot camera for my mother that was listed with a "long life battery". After placing the order, the sales person called my brother (credit card holder) and then hung up on him. When my brother called him back, the sales person (James) was extremely nasty until he realized that he was the credit card holder. James proceeded to tell my brother that I had ordered a camera without a battery or memory stick, and sold my brother a battery for $40. But the additional charge that went to the credit card was for $99. The memory stick was the same issue. When we attempted to get this fixed, we were told the order was complete, and though we could cancel, a 15% restocking fee would apply. The customer service department routinely does not answer the phone, e-mails sent regarding complaints are responded to with "Please call customer service, ticket closed."
Please save yourself the hassle and do not order from Fotoconnection."
"CONSUMER ALERT:
I ordered a replacement Canon SD 700IS for my daughter from FotoConnection. Fair price, but I mention that it was a replacement because that means that I not only have experience with the camera in question but also know exactly what is included in the box. Their website indicated the product offered (and in stock) was a brand new, factory sealed Canon SD 700IS (SKU# 1130B001) with a 1 year USA warranty. After ordering the product, I received what seems to be the obligatory call (at least for the camera industry) trying to upsell or include additional items. I was first asked “how many pictures do you want to take with this camera?” Knowing exactly where the salesperson was headed, I answered the question and was told “OK, I’ll throw in an extra memory card”. No mention of the size of the card, the brand or the cost. I refused the card. I was then asked “how long do you want to be able to take pictures?” I indicated that the battery that was included in the package was sufficient and was told that “it would only last 10 minutes”. Having previously owned this exact camera, I can speak from experience saying that the included battery will last more than 10 minutes and told the salesperson as much. That’s when I was told that this was an “internet special” and that the promotional battery included only lasts 10 minutes. I rather pointedly remarked that their website indicated nothing about it being an internet special and that it was listed as a brand new, factory sealed camera with a USA warranty. The salesperson asked “you want the USA warranty?” and, when I said yes, that was what I had ordered, he told me that would cost X dollars (roughly $40 more than the original purchase price). After some back and forth on this, I told the salesperson that I wanted the original product, as listed on their website, for the price that I agreed to purchase it at. The salesperson said “OK” and we hung up. That afternoon I received a call telling me that my order had been cancelled. At that point I was actually thankful … the cancellation of my order was the only positive portion of this experience.
I know this has been longwinded … but someone needs to set the record straight regarding this retailer. Many of the reviews on various sites are padded with fluffy positive comments like “could not be more pleased with FotoConnection” and “fast shipping”, but not a lot of information regarding their interaction with the retailer. This is a retailer that obviously thrives (or preys, depending on your viewpoint) upon the uneducated consumer. BUYER BEWARE!!
