"Ordered via the web on 3/19/07. Received an email on 3/20 requesting a call (800#) to confirm order information and ensure delivery. After placing my order on 3/19 I began to read the comments on ResellerRatings, and hoped that this wouldn't occur. But, my fears were confirmed. The call was to attempt to sell me , Battery + charger, SD card, additional warranty, and finally to point out that the camera was the "Internet" model not the USA model. If I wanted the USA model it would be $40 more. I stubbornly said "No Thanks" to each offer and requested that they ship the camera as shown and described in the ad. His reply was, this was the "Internet" model and would take 4-6 weeks to ship. I pointed out their verbiage that stated 7-10 days, and he said that was for the USA model. I summarily stated that I wished to have my order canceled, and repeated it twice more. Our conversation was concluded by his statement that I won't find a lower price anywhere. I have contacted my CC company to deny any attempts to charge my account for this purchase and have faxed the list of the names of companies that are currently used by FotoConnection. I have never had an experience that even approximates the deceit practiced by these deceptive individuals.
I will refer to ResellerRatings before attempting any web purchase of size in the future.

Hopefully, if they intervene, the fraudulent practices will cease. At least for this site.

"3-5-07 I ordered a new Cannon SD 630 digital camera from James @ fotoconnection. I expressed many times that I did not want the additional kit but was not let off the phone until I agreed but was promised 2nd day air delivery.
3-6-07 I received an email stating that my order had shipped and gave me a tracking address for ups and discovered that it had been shipped ground.
3-7-07 I contacted the company to complain about ground shipping. I was told that they would throw in the 3 year extended warranty but I wanted to be credited the difference the air and ground shipping. They would not do this. I asked to speak with a supervisor and was told one would call me back. This never happened.
3-9-07 I called and spoke with a supervisor and they also would not credit me the difference but would include the extended warranty. I agreed as this seemed to be my only option.
3-13-07 the camera was delivered but I was out of town until 3-16-07.
3-16-07 I opened the box to find that this did not come in a Cannon Box but was many loose pieces in a shipping box. As I inventoried the components I discovered that it was missing the memory card that was supposed to come with the camera. I also noted some scratches on the front of the camera. I called in to complain that it was missing parts and seemed to be used. I was assured that the camera was shipped from Cannon and that a replacement memory card would be ordered but that it would take 3-5 weeks to be delivered since it had to be ordered from Cannon.
3-19-07 I spoke with Lance in customer service who assured me that he was of the highest authority and would not transfer my call to a supervisor. He assured me that it was a new camera. I told him that I was told it was shipped from Cannon but the return address was GB ELECTRONIC SHOPPING, 1100-01 CONEY ISLAND AVENUE, BROOKLYN, NY. He explained that thatis their warehouse and they OEM'ed the product.I asked for a Return Merchandise Authorization number so I could return the camera. He continually tried to get me to accept a new shipment of another camera. I continually told him that I simply wanted to return the camera for a full credit. He told me that I would be charged a 15% restocking fee. I told him that I would refuse the charge on my credit card. He eventually did email me the form to apply for an RMA#. I filled out that form and returned it on 3-19-07 at around 10am CDST.

I will be refusing any charges from this company on my credit card bill. They tried to tell me that my credit card company would consider this stealing. As soon as I get a RMA# (assuming that they follow thru which at this point is doubtful) I will be returning this via certified mail.

"First memory card was defective. The card was replaced pronptly. The new memory card appears to be working properly. Thank you very much! My only suggestion is that your support and telephone personel should have a better manner when speaking to customers and potential customers. They sound rather short and not all that friendly. "

"While in the end I got the product I was looking for, the price wasn't the cheap price advertized. When I order the camera I wasn't told that the lense would be backshiped. I had to make 3 calls to finally get what I wanted. The first call asked me to switch lenses."

"I ordered Canon's HC-3200 for $327.00, received Vanguard's Pro Hard-Sided camera case. Was told that it was the same thing as Canon's case. But it was not (not even close) thye also charged me $318.99 for this case, when yit can be ordered almost anywhere for $150. When I did the RMA they charged for a restocking fee and would not refund any shipping costs, even know it was their mistake. Took 2 months for the them to tell me that they were unable to get this product. I had to contact them at least 4 times to try to work things out. and final they gave me a credit of $279.00 so I'm still working with AMEX to get the rest back."

"I ordered a Panasonic DMC-FZ8K from this company before reading reviews on resellerratings.com. I received a call from "owen" who, like others reported here, tried to get me to buy various accessories that were way overpriced: battery, 4GB SD card for $119, upgraded warranty, etc., I became very nervous (and even more so after reading the reviews here). I called up the company two days later to inquire of my order status and was informed that my item was pre-ordered and not released from the manufacturer as of yet. While true of other sites, I found this strange given that the website gave no indication of this and listed the item as being in stock. I have a screenshot of the website to prove this! Needless to say I cancelled my order and will be informing my credit card company not to pay should the order "inadverntly" go through despite the cancellation. I wonder, given all the negative reports if anyone reported the company to the BBB or NYS Attorney General's office. (edit: my order is shown as being cancelled on the site)"

"After reading the previous ratings, I feel lucky that they ONLY stole $47 from me.

Long story short, they do not itemize receipts; everything came as a "Package". Convenient that you cannot return items that are part of a "Package". Then they give you "deals" over the phone. Then your stuff arrives, your receipt isn't itemized, the deals aren't honored, and things mysteriously cost more than they said it would. How do you prove it? You don't.

Customer service backs all that up with rudeness, and a serious NY air of superiority. They can't do anything, and could not care less about your missing money or dishonored deals.

Absolute crooks. Not worth your time or money, no matter how good a deal they offer.

"First let me thank you all for confirming that I am not going crazy and that yes, this company is not a company but a clever setup to deceive buyers. They know exactly how to "read" an individual and find a way to get you to "upgrade" because of every reason known to man.
The day, Feb 11th, a short time before Presidents day, I was thinking that Christmas is long gone and I never bought myself a gift! (haha)I begin the search for the most "sensible" purchase for a 23" LCD TV that would fit nicely into my little Oaisys in my house. I found the OLEVIA brand TV for the best price on fotoconnection.com and decided to give this company a shot. Mind you, I purchase computers parts, Network Servers and IT technology all the time on the internet with GREAT success and when I first spoke with CS (cust. service)it sounded like a legitimate company. I asked the normal questions about the TV and received good responses so I went ahead with my order.
It was the 12th I received an e-mail that read..
"Thank you for your order. In order to promptly process your order, please call me Tom at, 800-xxx-0889 Ext. 2052. to confirm your order information, in order to ensure prompt delivery of your order".
I then called and verified and received the verification e-mail. Now to the consumer, you and me, it makes one feel good to know they are taking measures to ensure this is not a FRAUD purchase so you begin to TRUST the company to the next level of trust.(Day, Feb 13th, 2007) Two days after initial phone call.
During the interactions on the phone verification, they did try to get me to purchase a bunch of accessories but I opted only for the 1 yr warranty. We as well agreed on the 7-10 day delivery and I am thinking great, I will have it on the 23rd at the latest. Not bad for a "lazy man" ;)
The 23rd hits and no TV, 24th, 25 and here we are on the 27th and still no re-runs to be watched on my new purchase. I decide to wait until I get home to give them a call.
That evening I listen to a message on my home phone line and its a rep from fotoconnection calling to "confirm my ORDER". Confused, well so was I. I call them and I gave them the confirm # and he immediately went into "you order should be there by next Friday" and I was like hold on a sec it should have been here 4 days, and he proceeded to cut me off and say but you are just now confirming ad that I should have called sooner” and said “thanks for your call and good bye”. A few deep breaths later I called them back using my Cell phone and got put into the “ONHOLD CS CUE from HELL” Let me tell you, that was the longest “Your call will be answered in 2 mins, you are now first in line” message I have ever heard! 48 mins later while on hold, my Home phone rings and it is fotoconnection. The CS rep who took my call before never looked at my account when I spoke with him before, and that he was calling to let me know that upon further review “UPS sent back the order for it got damaged while in route and that I could get the newer version of the TV” and I first thought ok, that’s admirable of them to upgrade me to a newer version, so I agreed then he states “sir you do know that you will have to pay the difference between the models”. SHOCK hits me and I said no thanks then just cancel my order and I will look elsewhere. He proceeds to let me know that if I am willing to wait for an indefinite amount of time that he can get me the one I purchased. I said no thanks just refund my card. He then goes onto ask if he threw in some $200 DVI cables would I upgrade to the newer model and that these cables can be priced checked against Circuit City to ensure that is what they cost”. In hind sight I should have thought to myself that why would he give me a $200 DVI cable when they could have just given me the newer TV for CHEAPER!!!??? DUH! But I agreed to go ahead after he gave me the 2-3 day delivery at no extra charge.
It is now March 5thh and I just called my credit card to place my dispute and cancel the payment. I now have to fill out the dispute papers and file them with my credit card company with all written communications between this “Middleman electronics Company from Hell” and myself.
What lesson is to be learned; well too many lessons but take what you will from this posting and use this experience to better choose a company to do business with in the future. I will let you know how this romance with fotoconnection ends…

"Do not deal with this company. They will call you to "confirm" the order. They lie about the product in an attempt to get you to order additional items and insurance. For example, they told me the camera I ordered does not come with any memory or a battery and I will need these items. I ended up buying 512Mb memory and a battery that does not even fit the camera....all for an extra $100.00 plus an arbitrary additional "shipping/handling" charge.
The return policy is a scam. I've called their customer service department five times in the last 1 1/2 months. Finally I received a "return authorization" form but it was blank. They want me to sign and submit it for review. What they actually want is a signature agreeing to their ridiculous return terms.
It is a mistake to deal with this company. After the 5th phone call, I filed a complaint with the Better Business Bureau and will contact my credit card company next.

"This order purchase has been a nightmare. It is 2/21/07 today and we still have not received our tv stand. Twice it has been shipped and twice it is completely damaged. They ship with a company called Action Freight Services and they and Rite Buy will not take care of getting the insurance claims handled. They keep blaming each other for the delay. After the first stand was shipped they then stated that the stand we ordered was no longer available and they shipped us a different stand. Again it was damaged. We keep getting bounced around from both companies customer support (what a joke) teams and nothing happens. I have probably spent 40 hours trying to get this stand and still have nothing. I am now getting the credit card company to charge back the purchase against RiteBuys.com. I purchase alot over the internet and have had generally favorable experiences, not this time. I will never buy again from the company and can only hope that I can keep other customers from making the same mistake."
