"After more than a month wait, the RayBan sunglasses I ordered were discontinued. Costumer service has been horrible. Had I not initiated all the contact, I would probably still be in the dark on the status of my order. I just requested a different color and was told it will now be a couple more weeks. When I talked to rep about my frustration, I was told my account would flagged for a "possible" upgrade on shipping at their expense. "Possible." Apparently, waiting two months for an order is not grounds for an upgrade with this company. I can only assume that long waits are to be expected due to their poor tracking of inventory. While the prices are good, unless you have a lot of time to waste, go elsewhere."
"Very poor service and very poor communication. I ordered glasses from them since 2007 and off-late the service has been outrageous. Order glasses on 9/7/11 - today is 9/28/11. not only have i not received glasses but my periodic check on their website shows "Lenses Reordered" and no explanation, no communication. I wrote them a stinker by email regarding lack of communication and poor service and received a call from them saying "they have been expedited". If 21 days is expedited service, i don't know what normal service is. I should have known when I purchased nearly $500 worth of glasses in May 2011 when the lady who called me back was downright rude. DO NOT BUY GLASSES FROM HERE. I will try go-optic next time after checking their reviews."
"I ordered a prescription sunglasses 5 weeks ago, and still haven't got it. One week after order, they informed me that the frame they received from manufacturer didn't pass quality control, and had to reorder. It meant that they didn't have the frame in stock in the first place, and didn't specify that when choosing the frame. One week later, I was informed the frame coming from Italy was delayed by US custom, and they expected to have it by a week later. Note that they stated the frame came from Italy, but I have to wait till I got the frame to see if it is made from Italy or China. My other regular prescription glass, ordered from Framesdirect a few weeks earlier, has frame made in China though it is D&G frame. I didn't know that D&G also have their products made in China. For the past two weeks when I was informed they had the frame at last, I've contacted customer service when the eyeglasses would be shipped, sometimes the answer would be tomorrow, a few days. The had the frame in their lab for two weeks, and still delay the progress of installing the lenses. I get impatient, and wanted to file a complaint to BBB, but decided to give them a last chance. Hopefully the eyeglasses would be in good quality to make my waiting worth it."
"Do not buy progressive lens over the internet. The specifications for the lens were way off; and should be done in person at a qualified eyeglass store. $600.00 major mistake. G. Mann"
"Really very bad, endless delays and no communication. They under-refunded me when I part cancelled the order due to unacceptable delays in fulfilling order. Buying glasses from this company is an unpleasant experience."
"After going out and taking care of my prescription and pupil distance measurement, I went online and selected both my frames and prescription lenses. The order page was quick and painless, though there was some curiosity about the two different brands of lenses and the types of coatings they offered for each, as the information was rather vague. It took a total of 13 days for the frames to be ordered, sent to the lab for the lenses to be made and mounted, shipped, and to finally arrive at my home. They were packed well and in the original frame's manufacturer box. They fit well, I can see clearly and there are no issues whatsoever. Aside from the bit of a wait in total, I ended up saving more than half of what it would have cost me otherwise."
"Framesdirect's websites is very easy to use. So after finding a good deal ( of which there are many) I ordered my prescription glasses. I gave them my prescription a week later (like it mattered because they didn't have the frames with them yet). I din't recieve any kind of phone call or confirmation that they recieved my prescription. I called them asking what the hold up was after two and a half weeks. The customer service put me on hold for a while so I hung up and called again. Now with a new operator she tells me she is sorry they are taking long, but she will refund my shipping and upgrade it to first class for free. That's great if she had actually done it. I still had to pay the original shipping. After three weeks of the original order date i recieved my glasses. "Yes! They're here" I didn't even care about anything just how beautifil they looked! One problem, they were crooked and askew. I would recommend ordering from somewhere else if you really need your glasses right away. At least the prescription is correct."
"Ordered on my glasses on March 2011. The product was backordered and I had to wait for 1 month. Finally, the frame was ordered, but said there was a defect on the frame, so they had to re-ordered the frame. Told me that it will take another wait to arrive and then a few more days to place the lenses on. I called back one and a half week later and they said it's not there and hopefully it will come a week later. Finally, I cancelled the order. The website looks very promising like other people said, but service was poor and basically they keep making up excuses so to make you wait longer. Definitely not worth buying anything from here, and I highly recommend getting your glasses from other websites."
"I was a bit wary of ordering from framesdirect after seeing all the negative reviews. But they were one of the few companies that had the frames I wanted in their catalog, so I decided to take the plunge. After hearing all the stories about products out of stock, I called them first to verify their inventory and was connected with low/no wait time to a friendly CS agent who verified that it was in stock and the amount of time I had to wait. All told, it would be about 7-10 days after order + shipping time to get my glasses, which I was okay with.
I placed my order, got a call the next day from another rep to verify the prescription, and then I picked the order up 8 days later. It had actually arrived even earlier (6 days after the order) at the post office, I just hadn't gone to pick it up. My glasses are perfect and I'm really impressed by the speed and service of framesdirect. I didn't order super brand name frames, which is probably why I didn't have the same order delay problems that others have, and their return / exchange policy is a little confusing, but overall, I'm really satisfied and I would do business with them again!"
"I purchased a set of Oakley Evade prescription glasses from FramesDirect.com in the first week of January. I payed over $450 for these glasses alone, plus $15 shipping to get it in under a week from shipping date.
First, they DID NOT provide me a way to track the order. When I asked about their order tracking, they said it was down. Understandable, so I waited a week.
On order, I was told they would be done and shipped within 7-10 days. They said they would have to order the frames from Oakley, send them to lab, then go through quality control check. After a week, the glasses went off to quality control where they spent 3 days there.
So after 15 days from purchase, I got my glasses. First thing I noticed is they were shipped in a FedEx Large Box...odd for such a small package. I proceeded to open the box and then noticed the Oakley box inside...WITHOUT PADDING!!! The box was in horrible condition on the outside and bent.
I proceeded to open the box and found the glasses were in their respected case, thank goodness they were. Opened up the Oakley box and proceeded to unwrap the glasses.
By now I am excited. New glasses in, long time waiting, and my new weaker prescription. However, first thing I noticed was a paint chip missing on the nose of the glasses! I was devastated. Went on to put them on anyways and noticed one hinge was broken! Now I am pis*ed.
I immediately called FramesDirect and got customer service. The woman there proceeded to transfer me to the returns department...but this ended in a disconnection! I called right back and got the same woman in customer service and asked to be connected to returns again. Once there, I got a VERY RUDE representative on the line. Five minutes after talking to her I demanded a supervisor.
After getting on the phone with the supervisor I explained the situation. Got the glasses in an oversized box, no padding, internal box damaged, paint chip on bridge, and broken hinge. What did she say? Let's set up an exchange. I said ok, and she told me it would be my cost (which they would reimburse up to $8.99) to ship them back. Once they received the glasses, they would examine them set up the exchange. The exchange would consist of ordering new frames from Oakley AND redoing the lenses, per their policy and operations. I asked her the normal time frame, and she said 5 days to get them in and process the return, then the same process before, 7-10 days, to get the glasses and ship them out which to me would be 2 days...with my math and experience this means 14-17 business days to get a new pair of glasses! That is bull!
She explains to me the damage I am seeing is caused by Oakley, and that their products are sometimes junk in cases. I told her with my experience with Oakley, both online and stores, she is telling a false statement. I tell her the damage looks as if done when mounting the lenses. She then tells me Oakley mounted the Essilor lenses, and they may have caused the damage. Oakley does not sell any other lenses but their own brand. She is basically feeding me bull...or trying to. Didn't work, sorry.
I went on the ask the rep if I could just have a new pair ordered while they wait for mine to get back...she said no...
I then asked if I could make another order and get a full refund on the others...she said no...
Now I have had it, I ask for a full refund. What does she tell me, it will be a 20% restocking fee! What the hell! I proceeded to ask her where it is on me (financially) and my fault the glasses were damaged and even somehow passed quality control. I explained the situation, my thoughts, and asked her if she ever heard of the BBB. She then said she added to my notes a full refund and no restocking fee. What does she do after this, says "Thank you have a nice day" and proceeds to try and hang up. I tell her "Hold on" and double check the return number and the notes.
After all this, I sent the glasses off, and called next day to send pictures of the damage, video of the damage, and the tracking number to a supervisor and for the notes on the order. I also went on to call Oakley and ordered the frames directly from them. I told them about my experience with FramesDirect.com and double confirmed Oakley does not mount their lenses or sell Essilor lenses...they don't. I had my new frames from Oakley in 2 business days from my order date! Oakley is awesome. They also came with all the Oakley accessories in box which I had not noticed before were missing from my FramesDirect.com order.
After sending them off 2nd day air, it took them 1 day to process the refund. I was refunded for the price of the glasses and $8.99 for shipping. As of right now I just saw the refund and feel that I should warn others about them. Stay away from FramesDirect.com! "
"20% "restocking fee" for the privilege of trying on a pair of ill-fitting frames that did not resemble the picture - $30 in my case - is a ripoff. Even Zappos lets you try on shoes for free.
Requested an exchange, but customer service was oblivious to my request for a dialogue.
Bad, bad."
"Read a lot of bad reviews but decided to take a chance. I ordered frames ONLY (DY4561) on 1/22/11 and the frame arrived 1/29/11 via USPS free shipping. No problems whatsoever. If you do not ship to your billing address, they will call and/or e-mail you to get an explanation. The frame looked new and it came in a DKNY case. Customer service was proactive (by calling AND e-mailing me) and responsive. No problems with purchasing frames ONLY (no lenses)."
"the site looked so promising and reliable. only after I ordered the glasses it turned out the item was not available in stock. I asked for another item, it was not available either. After going back and forth for a few days I asked for a refund. It took them another week to refund me my money. Very dissatisfied. "
"Don't be fooled by the low prices. It's only because they dont have the glasses you want in stock.
I've been waiting 2+ months for a pair of reading glasses (Persol 2880v). Still on 'backorder'.
This is the second pair of Persol's I bought that took more than 2.5 months to get.
They say that they are at the mercy of the mfg. That's bullsh**. No other company seems to have an issue restocking items.
DON'T buy from them. You will regret it. I can't change my original start to 1. I would give them zero stars if I could.
"
"Horrible experience with this store. Terrible customer service, product not even in-stock, and then when I wanted to return it there's a 20% "restocking" fee - which on designer sunglasses will be almost $40 that I won't get back.... buy somewhere else where you can try on OR that won't charge the ridiculous re-stock fee."
