"Many companies could learn from GPS City. I have purchased 4 different gps units from this company. Each time the service has been excellent. Yesterday I received another Garmin Rino that was shipped within hours of being ordered and delivered the next day as promised. Then while taking the unit out of the package I dropped the lithium ion battery breaking the plastic retaining clip off. The battery was now useless as it could not be attached to the gps correctly. I contacted GPS city by email explaining what had occurred asking if they could help me out in any way as a replacement battery with shipping and taxes would be close to 100 dollars.
I was expecting the sorry your fault answer but was pleased and surprised that GPS City was willing to replace the battery for me for only the cost of shipping. In this day and age it is refreshing to have the experience of a company that treats customers this way. I would also like to mention that I have yet to ever find a lower price than GPS city as well. "When I ordered a Garmin Topo 24K DVD and a Backbone case for an Oregon 450, I did not see a notice that the DVD was not in stock, which I usually pay attention to, but I can't swear that it indicated it was in stock. Anyway, the e-mail acknowledging the order did not indicate Out of Stock. I was surprised, therefore, that the DVD was "back ordered" when I went to their website a couple of days later. I was further surprised when a day later, I received a message that my order had shipped.
Unfortunately, when the order arrived, instead of the DVD, the package contained the Backbone case and a Garmin Carrying Case. I went to their site to contact them and the Live Chat feature didn't work, so I sent an e-mail: no real response, just the generic acknowledgment. I called customer service but noted all the phone-tree options were inappropriate for a mixed-up order. I finally got through to a human by pressing 0 and explained my problem, but she was abrupt, talked over me, though indicating they would send out the DVD and a return label to return the Garmin case. I waited more than a week, and still hadn't received and e-mail or the DVD so sent them an e-mail. George responded very quickly, apologizing, acknowledging that they would send the DVD, but that it was back-ordered. A couple of days later, they shipped the DVD.
I give them high marks for prices--the best I found for a current DVD (as opposed to the outdated ones Amazon sells, which have to be updated on-line). I like the Backbone Case. It is generic and a little large for the Garmin Oregon, but has room for an extra set of batteries, and has a soft liner so the screen isn't damaged while in the case.
I can't fault GPS city for the poor Basecamp software and its deficient manual that I had to download from Garmin. I had to solve most of the many problems by Googling.

"I pre-ordered the Garmin Nuvi model 3790T GPS from GPS City (Canada) prior to its official release with the hope that it would arrive in time for my husband's birthday in early July. It did and in plenty of time! However, once it was put into service, we experienced some technical difficulties. The Garmin Help Desk technician helped us determine that the mount was likely defective and needed to be replaced. One call to GPS City and the matter was resolved very quickly - in very short order a new mount was shipped and put into service and our problems disappeared. This is our third Nuvi from GPS City and I continue to be a very satisfied customer. A measure of a company's service is how they react when something goes wrong not necessarily when everything goes according to plan. GPS City offers excellent customer service under both circumstances - a very good reason to continue to do business with them from Ottawa!
