"On the date I placed my order their web site listed the SKU "VC-ATI-9800PRO" as being a *retail* Radeon 9800 Pro 129MB that would be coming in and shipping out April 4th. I dropped a money order in the mail the same day.

Today (April 4) the web site shows the same SKU as being an *OEM* Radeon 9800 that won't be shipping until April 10th. Furthermore, the price is different ($399 rather than the $393 I paid). As you can see, GameVE.com changed every detail of the item except for the SKU. Can you say "bait and switch"?

I called and now they're telling me that the retail Radeon 9800 won't be in until the end of the month but that they will be happy to hold my money until it comes in. Had I paid by credit card I'm sure I would also be treated to a speil about how they could charge me the extra six bucks and send me an OEM card next week.

This is unacceptable.

I have cancelled my order. The GameVE.com representative "Co" has promised that they will e-mail me when my money order arrives and send it back. I hope they can at least manage to do this.

Update: They claim that this is ATI's fault and that "nobody" will be getting the retail Radeon 9800 until the end of the month. Suprisingly enough the manager actually called me to smooth things over and assure me that my money order would be returned by FedEx as soon as it arrived. I am impressed with this and his obvious appreciation of my concerns. I have updated my rating to reflect this.

Update: I did recieve my money order in a timely manner, however they subscribed me to their e-mail mailing list so now I'm getting ads in my e-mail every month! This is called "spamming" and is both unethical and highly unprofessional. I will definitely not be doing business with GameVE.com.

"Ordered an Athlon XP 2100+ AIUHB from them. Shipping was fast, packaging was strange, but adequate. They shipped me the wrong week code, but no big deal. Still got a 440MHz overclock out of it. =)

"Customer support was great. Ordered a new motherboard on a Sat. and recieved it Tuesday. About 3 days ahead of schedule. I recommend you make sure they will pack it well.
UPDATE: Took a closer look at contents. Packaging was minimal. The motherboard had peices missing which where on the bottom of the box. RMAing... Lets see what happens next.
UPDATE2: I got an email response from Lawrence today and I will will be calling them monday to see the status and get my RMA number.
UPDATE3: I recieved an RMA number by email on 4/4/03.

They offered free FedEx 3-Day Select shipping which I accepted.
