"I have dealt with them twice and been very pleased both times."
"They've been great, very knowledgable and available."
"They were super! Got my order in just a few days and the price was the best i could find!! "
"Very good The lady i orded from was very helpful and had a good understanding of what i was looking for.I would order from here again"
"I ordered a custom gate and gate opener from gatecrafters in early Feb. First I took a look at the online design page for my gate and figured out what I wanted on my gate from there, which was really helpful and took a lot of the confusion of imagining my gate while designing it over the phone, like some company's force you to do. I also ordered the Estate Swing ES 1102 opener. I came to decide upon this opener after talking to a very knowledgeable gate specialist. As a previous reviewer said, they didn't try to sell me the most expensive opener, but tried to understand what it was I was looking for so that I would be satisfied (Did I want to go solar eventually? yes. How many times a day would I be opening the gate? These questions are important when deciding on the right opener). I got my order within a week without any problems or anything missing. That weekend I began my instillation. I had to call the technical support several times, and true to their word they did answer on saturday and sunday, even later sunday evening which I could hardly believe. I also took a look at the instillation manual, which is written well, and the videos, which were a tremendous help to me because it really helps to see someone else do it.
Not only does this site have great selection and very competitive pricing (probably the lowest on nearly everything I researched), but they helped me save even more money by showing me how to install it myself. I was very grateful for this."
"Beware! I spent a ton of money for a gate and opener and the works only to find out they shipped the wrong posts. I called to tell them the problem and they said they would take care of it right away and send me the correct posts. Three weeks later and they have done nothing. When I call, their standard reply is that the guy in charge is aware from his desk. There's never a call back. Emails are never returned. I can't comment on what other problems there might be with the gate or system because without the posts everything else is pretty useless.
UPDATE: I finally received the new posts, so that's good news. I will install the gate and opener soon and hopefully it will all go smoothly if I'm not missing anything else."
"I ordered two aluminum driveway gates from gatecrafters, as well as a couple of related items. Everyone I talked to was friendly and knowlegeable, especially Matt, who spent a good amount of time discussing the merits of various gate openers with me, and even recommended one of their less expensive units for my particular situation (Zareba brand). I got a better deal on the openers at gate-openers.com, though.
Gatecrafters has a great online design/pricing tool, same-day final quotes emailed, and they only required a $200 deposit to get the process started. Two weeks later a photo of my finished gates was emailed to me, and after I called with final-payment credit card info, they shipped the next day by FedEx freight for a flat rate of $99 for each gate and $80 for each set of two gate poles.
The gates are well built and look good. Packaging was excellent as well. However, be aware, these gates are spray painted, not powder coated. This paint looks fine, but scratches very easily when the gates are first received and the paint is fairly fresh. It hardens up, though. Two cans of touchup paint are included.
My gates were missing a couple of caps that go on top, so I emailed about the missing caps and they were sent immediately.
I would offer this warning to anyone installing gates themselves as I did: Hire a professional, or be prepared for a lot of intense preparation, heavy labor (mostly digging), lots of head-scratching and preparation, and possibly less-than-satisfactory results. I'm pretty handy, and I got the posts perfectly vertical and at just the right depth (that's critical), but I must have messed up a tiny bit on drilling the holes in the gates, so they don't match up pefectly when closed. Perhaps this is common no matter what. Perhaps the gates were not perfectly "flat" -- a little "warped." I don't know. It's not a major deal because they look good from both sides, but I like things to work out just right, and this project, while I'm proud of my work, didn't quite. YMMV.
The previous reviewer bought one of the cheapest openers this seller has. Cheap stuff like you'd buy at Lowes/HD; and then he whines that they didn't fall all over themselves to provide some obscure ohms rating or something? Ask the dude hanging around that particular aisle at HD and see what kind of response you get. I'm guessing, "Huh?""
"These guys are the worst! They sell automatic gate openers that are poorly designed and their customer/technical support service inconsistent. Sometimes you get someone who knows what they are talking about, other times not.
I purchased an Estate Swing 1100 in 2002. From the beginning I had problems. The installation manual had wiring errors that caused the battery to go dead. In addition, the unit’s battery was undersized for normal operation. I figure out the wiring errors and separately purchased a properly sized battery. I wrote them a letter noting the wiring errors and the battery problem. I never heard a word back from them about it.
Since the original purchase I will have replaced the main board 2 times (once under warranty and one on my ticket), the remote radio control board once and the keypad once. The battery 3 times (since I put in the right size I have no more problems). I have spent as much on replacement parts as I did for the whole system originally.
When I called about the keypad and asked their technical support folks what the ohms reading for the contact closure should read on the keypad they did not know. Being the nice guy that I am when I received the replacement keypad I called them to let them know the value so they could document it, they acted like they did not give a hoot.
This is your typical internet reseller that shoves the product out the door and forgets the customer from that point.
