Called and waited on hold - rep said they would investigate and respond -3 days - no response. Called again - "Sir, we are investigating -you have to wait' I ask for a supervisor and I am hung-up on" NEVER AGAIN!!! "I ordered my Sony Clie on Saturday via the website, got it Tuesday via UPS. I live near D.C., so maybe those who live out in the sticks wait a little longer. by the read of these reviews, it seemed that shipping time was a concern, but it says right on their website what to expect for shipping times. If you want it that bad, then pay the 15 or 20 bucks to get it next day. If you don't care, the free shipping option works well (which is what I used). But you have to be careful....their default shipping option is fed ex (which is NOT free, and they charge about 9 bucks). Just pay attention to what you're doing. "
"ALERT!!!!! i had to say i had the worst exprience in the world with this retailer, i ordered my camera on May 5, on 8th, its employee called me and i confirmed my order with them, but on the evenning of 8th,they canceled it unilaterally. they breached their duty and obligation under the contract without any justifiable reason. "I placed an order for a sony 19" monitor and soon recieved it but it came in such horrible condition the styrofoam was shattered and the monitor was just busted. So I paid 10bux for the ups guy to come and pick it up and gateway sent a new one. Then this second monitor had a few dead pixels. So i spent another 10 bux to send it back to them and they send me another one. So finally after 2 returned monitors I finally got one that works fine, no dead pixels. I must admit the customer service people were very helpful and understanding. I had no problem with them at all. But it was a real hassle having to return 2 monitors just to get one that works. Especially when it costs 450bux. plus another 20$ for ups costs.
The next problem was just horrible though. I placed an order for a athlon cpu and put the shipto address as the job i had at the time. Since it was on backorder for SO long i called cust svc and told them to cancel the order. Which they said 'your order is cancelled.' fine.. so a few months later I see my CC bill which has a charge for the gateway accsry store and it turns out that they NEVER actually cancelled that order. By this time I was at a NEW job and they sent my cpu to my old job and charged me for it. So I called gateway and complained about this and they were very helpful and said they would contact my old job and would take care of it and i'd be reimbursed the charge. After a few weeks, I got no such reimbursement and I had to be forced to resolve this through my CC company. I gave them all my information including the printouts clearly showing that the order was cancelled. And they resolved the dispute for me. So, even though customer service seems friendly and helpful, they don't always do what they are supposed to do, which in turn causes huge headaches for us consumers."
"I also ordered a monitor on Saturday April 6th. They were closed over the weekend (which I knew from checking the site, and notifed of again when placing the order) and they processed it early Monday April 8th and listed it as shipped on their site.
Shipping was free, and listed as UPS when ordering, but actually went out via FedEx. Tracking was available Tuesday, and the monitor arrived Wednesday the 10th all in good order and working fine right now. It's even a newer version of the monitor (new 'highlite zone' feature and lower power usage) than I expected from my online research.
I didn't have to talk with a salesman or deal with returns, but based on the service I have gotten, I would order from them again.
