Buyer Beware

"I'm a first-time user and my experience thus far has been pretty bad. To give you a recap of what's happened so far:

May 29: Signed up for Glyde & ordered (1) iPhone 6s and (1) iPad Pro 9.7
May 30: Received email from Glyde asking to validate my Credit Card info. I respond same morning with the info requested.
May 31: (about 24 hrs later) Glyde customer service responds that they can't find my account. I respond with my order number info.
June 1: Received an email from Glyde that my info will take up to 2 days to verify/validate with my bank
June 2:
- Replied back asking whether this will delay my orders (No response from Glyde).
- Surprised to see that my iPad order was cancelled because seller 'was not able to send the item'.
- Placed another order for a different iPad. Email my CC info proactively to Glyde to prevent another delay
June 5:
- Glyde processes my payment for both items (3 days later).
- The bank declines the charge (Fraud Protection) --
- NOTE: if Glyde had really verified my information with the bank as promised, the charge would have gone through the first time without my bank thinking it was fraud
- I confirm with my bank that it is a legitimate charge. I re-order the iPad AGAIN through Glyde's system. Estimated arrival 6/12-14
June 7:
- Received an email from Glyde that they will cancel my iPhone order in 48 hrs if I don't respond.
- The seller misrepresented the iPhone color on Glyde site. Want to know if I still want to proceed with order.
- This is 10 days after I placed the original order.
- Seriously? This was supposed to be a present. Not only is it arriving late, but it will be the wrong color??? Why wasn't I informed earlier???
- Glyde system says shipping kit for iPad should arrive to seller on June 12. Basically, iPad will not be delivered to me until June 19-22, much later than original Glyde estimates. If I had known it would take that long I would've cancelled the order immediately. I've also just read some reviews that say it often takes up to 2 weeks to receive items once the seller receives the shipping kit.

Overall, this has been a HORRIBLE customer experience. I can't ever imagine recommending Glyde to anyone. The simplicity that Glyde advertises is just not true. This is one of the worst online customer experiences I've had in years.

In summary:
- Customer service has been slow to respond (no phone number & no escalation)
- Simple processes take way too long (e.g. processing credit card / confirming bank info / validating accuracy of seller description)
- Estimated delivery dates are dishonest representations (lies) of when the item will actually arrive. E.g my iPhone was supposed to arrive 2 days ago. It's clear that the seller hadn't even been sent the shipping kit yet... My decision to purchase on Glyde was dependent on these estimates that I now see are impossible to fulfill.

Needs Improvement

"They would really benefit from pictures. I still would have purchased this phone as the price was good, but it's not in "Excellent" condition as described due to some very noticeable dings around the side. They also should give longer than 72 hours to "accept or reject" the phone, or at least make it over business days. I just had the situation where the phone arrived late on a Friday when I had left for the weekend (after sitting at the seller's place with the shipping kit ready for 2+ weeks before actually shipping...), so now I have to decide to keep the phone after minimal time with it. I'm going to hope for the best here, but I'm worried about a couple hang ups while swiping through screens already. "

"Buyer got my phone and in one day send it back to me, described it as my phone is not in excellent condition coz it has little burn-in on the bottom which u can see only in black screen, glyde didn't offer extra space to describe such thing. "I used to give my old phones away, but I sold my old Samsung that has been sitting on my shelf for over a year through Glyde. Listed it, determined the price was about right, sold in a few days. Buyer checked it out, approved it, money deposited and now withdrawn.

THIS is the beauty of the internet.

Glyde gets a commission, buyer gets a phone and I get a nice dinner out. Everyone wins.

Good way to sell or buy.

"Trick is to be sure the phone is priced right to sell. Glyde's pricing suggestions are often spot-on, but not always - market values change quickly. If priced too high, it could sit there listed for weeks. It appears as well that higher priced phones just like yours get priority due to price and being listed before you, so patience goes a long ways. I never bought on Glyde but I would imagine if your not too picky about having the newest and best, Glyde should be a good way to get a good deal. Just remember, Glyde is just a middle man but you're getting to use what likely is a very large marketplace on Glyde, and what other market places they list on. But they don't ever really handle the product directly, except to perhaps take back a postal return. As a result if the seller is dishonest, etc. , you could get less than expected. All Glyde can really do is try for you again on the marketplace. My experience selling my Moto G3 at first took weeks with no results. So I unlisted it for a couple weeks, relisted on Glyde for a little less than before, and it sold in a few days. Everything was as prompt and as fast as regular USPS mail could go from there on."

Better late than never

"i bought an iPhone 6s ATT. The first seller backed out and glyde offered me an upgrade free of charge. After a week of staring at 'Seller received shipping package' I finally contacted Glyde to find out why the seller hadn't shipped. They contacted the seller, who did end up shipping, and I got a great phone for a really great price. There are bumps to Glyde, my order took 3 weeks, and I don't think I will use it again until they find a way to hold sellers more accountable, but their customer service was good & I would not have found an iPhone at this price anywhere else.

TAKEN FOR A RYDE, WITH GLYDE !!!!

"I have had multiple issues with glyde.com over the last few years but for some reason I continue to go back there. I guess I'm a glutton for punishment. I've had to return ian iPad 2 that was in horrible condition, when the listing said it was in good condition, it arrived filthy and greasy and all scratched up. They messed up an iPad Air purchase that I made and even sent me a non-functioning counterfeit cable that did not charge the device. When I contacted customer service about the issue, tbey told me a wotking one will be sent which never happened. My latest issue is that I ordered a Galaxy S6 Edge Plus That was supposed to be unopened in original packaging and I got a used refurbished one instead in a cheesy "mobile phone" generic box. What they do is when you submit information that you want a return, they relist your item so that someone else buys it on their website so they don't have to handle it again. This is why it took 10 days for me to receive said kit, they send you a shipping kit to actually send it to the new buyer, not back to them so they don't have to handle it, this is another way that they make money. They do not reimburse you for your shipping charges so you are shipping their item out to other buyers of theirs using you're time and money. I was able to figure this out because their return shipping kit, which the phone did not fit in and was pre-generated with the wrong weight, had a new buyers address on it, not Glyde's !!! I actually had to cut away the interior of the foldable cardboard flaps to reduce the inside dimensions of their special shipping kiit so I could fit the phone in it, it was listed as a 14.4 oz item on my scale, but the shipping kit label that they sent me said 13 ounces !! Another way that they generate revenue on their mistakes is that they hold your money in a bank account that I am sure is generating interest for them, that's why I've been waiting 3 weeks for a refund also. I actually had to call my credit card company and put a stop payment and file a dispute, so I could feel like I had some protection. People, trust me if you do a transaction with glyde there is a strong likelihood you will be taken for a ride, not receive what you ordered or something will go wrong, they never actually possess most of their items they are just a middleman and do not even know what they are selling. There are even more details to this nightmare story that I don't have the patience to go into right now. I would say there is at least a 50% chance that you will have a major issue with this company if you do any dealings with them"

BLACKLISTED IPHONE 6S

"I bought an iPhone for $386. It was an unlocked 16gb refurbished , certified, phone. It came in great shape with all the accessories with a new iPhone. One problem, IT WAS BLACKLISTED! I wasn't able to activate it. I requested a return kit right away. The one thing good about the site is that they cover the return shipping. Don't think I'm going to use the site again."

Glyde is bad now

"Ive used Glyde in the past. They've changed how they operate. Now, when you order, it takes 1-3 days for them to ship an empty box to the seller, then 1-3 days for the seller to take it to ship. They now estimate 7-10 days for an order. An old iPad took 10 days, and a Samsung tablet took 14 days. They sent a generic automated apology for the delay of the Samsung tablet.
I will never order again. You can pay slightly more and receive a refurbished product on Amazon. Since your already committing to second hand products via Glyde, you could use offer up or Craigslist and do far better without waiting up to two weeks
