If you try to contact them for technical support, expect to wait on hold between 15 and 40 minutes.
If you plan to use their "hassle-free" return policy, however, forget it! That is, unless the product is re-packaged in the original packaging in a state where they can "put it back on the shelves." Not only is this poor support of your customers, and highly unreasonable considering the type of product they sell, but it makes me wonder whether the product I just bought was new or used...

The items are accurately described on the Home Security Store website and priced comparably with the same items purchased directly from the manufacturer (sometimes, the items are even cheaper at Home Security Store). The purchaser/user remarks on the site regarding the items re also accurate and helpful (and the Store site maintains both positive and negative remarks about the merchandise). Shipping from HSS is fast and hassle-free. The items all arrived safely and functioned properly. HSS is an outstanding retailer. "
"I was concerned with some of the negative reviews here, but my experience with HSS has been excellent.
I ordered a home alarm system. Was shipped free that day, UPS, tracking provided. Everything arrived in good condition. The alarm system is marketed for trained installers, so installing a hard wired alarm system is more challenging for a DIY. The technical department is very good. I called for tech support 5 times and waited anywhere from 1-50 minutes. Some days are more busy than others for them. This wasn't a problem because they have a very competitive price and lifetime free tech support.
I didn't use some parts and was issued a RA# right away and shipped it back UPS.
I was very impressed with HSS products, technical support, and return policy. The people there are very nice and professional.
Just make sure you get the system that is right for your install and technical abilities. "
"I purchased an Alarm System from Home Security Store. It arrived 5 days later. Then Technical Program manual was so small that I could not read it. When I called their Technical Dept. I was on hold for an HOUR. In fact, everytime I called them I was on hold from 45 mins. to an hour.

"I have never had such great customer service! I ordered a couple of pepper spray canisters but the product never came. I told Chelsea at Velocity Products that the package was never delivered. She told me it wouldn’t be a problem and they would resend the package. Unfortunately, I didn’t find out that I had inadvertently miss keyed my shipping address on my order form until the second package had already been delivered to the wrong address for the second time. Even after the second package was wrongly delivered, Velocity Products was going to work with me further to make sure I was satisfied even though it was not their fault at all. USPS ended up finding the package and delivering it to me. Another high point is the packages were confirmed delivered within 2 business days. I got exactly what I had paid for. I highly recommend this company for all of your home security needs. "

Let me begin by stating that ultimately I did not buy any products from this store.
After viewing their products on line, and having a pretty good idea of what I wanted, I called with some technical questions and some general questions on the cost of additional features such as adding wireless remote, etc.
After calling and being on hold for 25 minutes (for the tech dept), I did get someone who had to transfer me to someone else for any tech questions. That was supposed to be the tech. dept, but OK. He then transferred me to someone else (another 5 min wait or so) who said that they had misdirected the call.
Finally, I got ‘Sara’ who was articulate but wasn’t tech savvy at all. She could tell me any additional accessories and cost that would go along with this unit, but couldn’t suggest other products with wireless capabilities at a minimum cost. She did send me a quote with the additional accessories.
Next day I left her a voice mail with a couple of questions, but I didn’t hear back until eight days later.
She didn’t answer my questions but simply acknowledged that I had asked these questions, and commented on my patience, and asked what the questions. At this point I had to send of an email re-iterating my questions. I haven’t received any reply.
As far as support, this company doesn’t have detail knowledge or even the desire or ability to locate or help the customer find this information.
I ultimately found this product on other sites for less.
I you have questions or need some support, I wouldn’t recommend this company.

I purchased a security system kit and 3 motion detectors from them. I slowly installed the system over about two months. Everything seemed to work great, then my cat started tripping the system. The motion detectors say they are "pet immune" up to 2.5 feet/85 lbs. It does say in the instructions that you can't let your pet get on something closer than 7 feet. When my cat (less than 10 lbs) runs across the living room floor (about 16 feet from the motion detector), he sets it off. I contacted customer service, and they refused to do anything because it's more than 37 days since the purchase date. After lots of arguing with them, they agreed to exchange the detector, but warned that they would test it and if it worked, they not exchange it. As I stated, the detector works fine except for the pet immunity--are they going to test that? probably not. I asked if they would test pet immunity and got no answer. There were no reviews on the detector, so I left a level-headed, negative review for it explaining the pet immunity doesn't work as well as the product description states. Several days later, I left another review... and again... and again. I think you can guess that _none_ of my reviews ever showed up on their site. I'm stuck with a system that doesn't work as described in the product info on their site."
"After reading the customer reviews on the company website, I decided to order a Visonic PowerMax Plus. The system worked well but took a long time to install. I called customer service on several occasions to ask installation questions and got quick responses on simple questions. When I asked a question that stumped the techs about a how to correct a malfunction, they said that they would get an answer and call back. I never heard from them after that. I then decided to write a negative review about their tech service on their website. Wouldn't you know it, they didn't allow it to post. I did manage to work around the malfunction, but it's still not right. Oh yeah, after about two month now, one of the three keyfobs I ordered has stopped working. I'm not going to bother doing business with this company again."
