"They do a poor job at communicating with the customer. I've used them twice. The first time I contacted them immediately after placing my order and politely asked that my order be shipped in discreet packaging. They never replied. The item was not delivered in discreet packaging and thankfully I was home to quickly retrieve it so it didn't sit in front of my house all day. More recently I ordered multiple items that were shown as in stock. Without contacting me, they shipped out only half of my order and refunded the rest. There was no reason not to contact me first and see how I wanted to proceed with my order. To me it was a huge waste because their shipping costs are high. I even told them that this was poor form and they just didn't respond at all. If you can't write emails then get your business off the internet. This store doesn't deserve its prominence in google results and I hope fewer people use it."
"Unbelievable lack of customer service. Can someone please explain to this vendor that it is 2018?! Three plus days to “process” an order...seriously? Multiple days to respond to order inquiries. Multiple days to refund cancelled order. Appreciate that they are trying to be 100% electronic (impossible to talk to a live person) but if that is your business model than you need to be living in today’s world. Truly a pathetic excuse for an online vendor. Example of the lower price vendor clearly not your best option. "
"I ordered a Hydrofarm Water Timer. I received a package of plant yoyo's. I have no idea what you would do with these plant yoyo's. I contacted the Horticulture Source, they were completely uncooperative. They wanted me to send the yoyo's back to them and pay the freight. I already had the cost of the product and the sales tax and the cost of shipping. When they received the yoyo's back they were going to decide if they would give me any money back for the product. Providing they did decide to return any money to me, they were going to charge me a restocking fee. They were asking me to reorder the product from the same website where the whole thing went wrong in the first place and trust them to get it right the second time. I decided to save my money and threw the plant yoyo' in the trash and bought a water timer from a reputable company. I see that I am not the only one who had a similar experience with this firm (HORTICULTURE SOURCE). "
"Ordered items and got order confirmation pretty quickly (they took the money fast - next day). Order moved through process ok and was received 5 days after ordering (not amazon but no bad either). Opened box to find completely different items (not what we ordered). Contacted them by email (only way to do get them as phone numbers all tell you same and hang up). No response, waited a week and resent an email requesting RMA and proper items to be shipped. Received 2 line email saying they were contacting the vendor and that some software had changed. waited 4 days and nothing. I would recommend staying away from these folks. Use a company that stands behind their shipping dept and also that has a phone number. AVOID AVOID AVOID. You have been warned "
"Ordered a tray stand and reservoir. Tray cam within a few days, the reservoir never came. They failed to send any type of shipping confirmation for the stand, just an auto receipt for the stand and reservoir, which didn't tell me anything. After waiting two weeks and not hearing anything from anyone, I was worried there was a problem with the reservoir purchase. NOTE: You can only send email inquiries so I had to wait an addition two days to hear back. They said the reservoir had to ship on a pallet and the shipping I paid wasn't enough and that I had to pay the difference if I wanted it to ship, which wasn't clearly stated anywhere if at all. They made no effort to make up for the poor communication and customer service resulting in me canceling my order. HIGHLY UNRECOMMENDED!"
"I order this item a week before my niece's birthday and did not receive it until a month later! When I contacted HorticultureSource about tracking information, they told me that their distribution center ran out, and that it would be an additional charge to receive it on time from another distribution center. Are you serious?! "
"I just received my package after waiting several weeks. I found my bulbs crushed in the package and still waiting for a response. Im also waiting for more bulbs (backordered) due next month and others not even indicated as to arrival date. I hope this all turns out better. "

"it had been a week since m order and no info on shipping, I emailed and it took almost 2 days for a response. the product was apparently on back order, which was not told to me until a week after purchasing and charging me. Subsequently i canceled my order, poor very poor customer service"
"Placed a $400+ order in Nov. 2014. All items were listed in stock. I specifically asked them to check that before placing the order! As mentioned by others, they were happy to take my money before making sure that they had everything I asked for. Most of the items arrived within 2-3 weeks in a couple of shipments (BTW their S&H charges are high IMO). That's when it got interesting. A couple of items (worth ~$100 including shipping!) were still delayed. At that point they offered me a refund or the option to wait for the new availability date which was 01/09/2015. Come that date I expected to get my order or at least an email with a status report. But nope, I had to contact them! And you can't call but have to wait for them to respond to opening a support ticket. Which was fine initially. After repeating this process a few times (!!!!), a week ago, I decided I had enough so I asked for a refund of the cost and corresponding shipping of the missing items. I guess I am no longer surprised that they have not answered my request yet. However, they changed the status of my order from "Backordered" to "Processing" with a note "refund requested". The products they sent were fine and the cost was ok (except S&H). On the other hand I find it unacceptable for a merchant to charge for items without having them in stock. They kept ~$100 of my money for almost 4 months and now they ignore me knowing full well credit card companies have a 60-day cutoff for disputing charges. I guess we'll see about that.

"I originally purchased an item which I was later told was out of stock and unavailable. I then found the same item still on your website, only at a much higher price. After contacting your sales reps, I was told again that the item was out of stock, even though it was still on the site. I purchased another item based on the initial order of the "unavailable" item. If I knew the first item was not available, I would have gone elsewhere for BOTH. I feel taken advantage of, will never do business with you again, and will share my experiences with my large and growing horticulture community here in Colorado."
