"Completely stupid and incompetent. I don’t think they even graduated grade school. My email had a ship date of 12/19/23 and it now says 2/27/24 to march 2024 and I never received any email stating there was a delay. No update. What a joke of a company."
"Do NOT purchase from this company. Save yourself the time and money. I ordered a pair of shoes from them. I ordered the size I normally wear since there is NO indication of them running a size bigger. When I received them, they were huge! I asked to swap them for a smaller size and was told that wasn’t allowed even though the smaller size was in stock online. I then asked to return them and was told that’s not allowed either. They offered no solution to the problem. Customer service seemed to not care at at all about the customer. I will never shop there again. "
"purchased a shirt on Dec 1, on Dec 8 i checked the order on their website only to find it was canceled without any notification. called customer service & talked with McKenzie, was told there was a problem with the order at the warehouse. She reordered the item, and i received another email stating order was placed.
checked the order on the website on 12/13 and the order shows it was canceled again on Dec. 9 (also without notice). called back and spoke to somebody from India who just stumbled with english and could not give me a reason it was canceled a 2nd time. stated i could reorder it(for a 3rd time) but declined. not only does the site say the item is in stock but they offer it in multiple colors(all in stock).
avoid this scam of a company."

"I made two returns this year via mail (due to the COVID-19 pandemic) and they "lost" BOTH packages. The tracking number says delivered and they were even signed for by Hot Topic but Hot Topic claims they don't have them and they aren't responsible for "lost" items even though I have evidence via delivered tracking number and signature that it was delivered. So I'm out a lot of money. Whenever I contacted Hot Topic, they just said they aren't responsible for lost packages due to the carrier. How is this the carrier's fault? Don't waste your money on a company that steals. It's a huge bummer because I LOVE this store and have been buying pop culture items here since middle school but I can't shop here anymore."
"After 30 days I emailed customer service asking where my order was. They told me it was sitting at the store, but I never received any updates even in my spam folder or on my account. I picked up my order and when I got home one of the items was NOT what I expected at all. The pictures and descriptions are vague and deceptive. Since the store held on to the items for so long I am out of the return window which apparently is based on when you made the order NOT when you go to pick it up................Last time I ordered from them I had a huge issue with them sending me a BROKEN funko, like box smashed to pieces. It is hell with customer service. Will never shop here again."
"Some of the worst customer service I’ve ever dealt with. I paid for OVERNIGHT shipping, was told that my shirt would arrive today, was also told that my order was shipped out 12/30 & on its way. This was a lie. I called today to check on the status because my tracking still read “pending”. When I talked to the shipping company they said they hadn’t even received my order yet, & that I should call Hot Topic. I did just that and was immediately lied to as I was told the shirt was shipped, & that I needed to call someone else. Once I told the phone operator that the shipping company told me that it wasn’t shipped, I was placed on hold, and then told that they would just give me my money back because my shirt wouldn’t get there till the 2nd of January. I was then told I would receive a refund if $10 less than what I actually paid for before correcting him. This was a gift for a special first time trip to Disneyland. I truly understand it’s the holidays, but I also truly understand the importance of excellent customer service, reliability, & honesty. None of which was shown here. Truly disappointed. "

"ordered online cyber monday - rec'd confirmation email. 10 days later, no shipment no notices. Called customer service and was told they have no record of the order. Suggested I go the the retail store. Suggested I call back the next morning to speak with supervisor, I called back the next morning and left message. No call back. I emailed three times, no response. I DM'd via twitter and got automated response to email them the problem.
guess I'm screwed. Guess Hot Topic doesn't give a **** about their customers or good customer service."
"Ordered a shirt for my daughter for Christmas. I ordered it the end of Sept. first of Oct. Was told the shirt was on back order. Checked web site frequently and still had it on back order to ship between Dec. 5th and 10th. The first of Dec. the order started showing up as an invalid order number. Found out on Dec. 6th they cancelled the order. 2 weeks before Christmas. Yet they are still for sale on their web site. They tell me they just don't have the size I ordered. That is why it was on back order. Duh. Can't believe they wait 10 weeks to cancel my order and do it right before Christmas. I do not trust ordering from Hot Topic anymore. "
"This company is a nightmare to do business with. I ordered a gift for my grand daughter and was charged 3 times on my Credit Card. I called customer service 4 times and each time I was on hold for over 1/2 hour and then connected with a person who could hardly speak english. I then called the Corp. Offices and was transferred back to CS and a non english speaking person."
"I placed several items in my cart and went to checkout. I saw that the shipping was $20 and decided it was too much and I'd just buy from another store in my town. I emptied the cart. I then got an email from Hot Topic saying "psssst, do you want free shipping on your order?". I'm like, hell yeah. So I go and refill my cart, copy and paste the "free shipping code" they sent me and hit "apply promo". My total bill still included the shipping fees, not only that but they went up to $30 for the same items! I have written 3 x to customer service to request help with the free shipping code because it will not apply to my purchase total and they have not answered. I feel totally mislead and very disappointed that I spent the time I did on their site. I feel like others should know not to waste their time with BOGUS free shipping code offers! Feels like a LURE. Not only that, but $30 shipping for a bunch of t-shirts is a CASH GRAB. I have bought far bigger, heavier items (numerous hard cover books!) from the same city from other companies and paid way less shipping! Grrrrrrrrr at LAME companies."

"Well I purchased a funko pop figure online which never showed up. When I contacted them about it (via e-mail) they were out of that specific pop figure. Now they said they would give me a full refund which I thought was fair and a normal thing to do. I recieved 6.08 dollars of my total 13.58 spent. Where the other $7.50 went? Well that is a mystery. I tried to contact then via e-mail with no response. Don't get scammed by this shady company. Good luck"
