"I went to hot topic for the first time in months and I signed the clipboard for the hot cash that is left on the counter. That same night I received a text from some random number asking to be friends and if I worked at hot topic. The only thing I can assume is someone in the store that day saw me write down my number and took it from the clipboard. I brought this up to a manager and they told me they would let corporate know. They have done nothing to help protect the personal information of their customers. I suggested covering the clipboard as people sign or removing the clipboard from the counter and only bringing it out as people sign. The excuse I was given when I went back and asked about it again is that they don't have enough space to put it away in between signings and that their boss told them to leave it out. Each person's full name and phone number are on there. That is enough info for someone to find a person and stalk them. I was lucky enough that the person that texted me left me alone after I told them to."
"I ordered the Funko IT movie moment from Hot Topic.com and I received the absolute most piece of trash they had to of intentionally damaged the item. The movie moments box was busted open on one side, and it was covered in scratches! It looked like they warehouse staff played soccer with it. I contacted customer service and they have a policy that they only guarantee the figure arrive in good condition, that the packaging is only for shipping and not guaranteed to arrive in good condition.
I was surprised that they sent me an email to review my purchase. I wrote the same review as above and received an email that they would not publish my review. I’m glad this site exists so I can honestly review this trash company."
"I am a big fan of the movie IT and my friend told me today that Hot Topic released a new exclusive -- Pennywise in the Gutter pop figure scene. I called around different Hot Topics and they were all sold out except for the store at Stonebriar Mall in Frisco, TX (they had 4). Excited... I told them I was on my way to pick up one . I drove from Dallas (about 45-55 mins) and when I got there... one of the ladies told me in a very "smiley, cheerful demeanor"... oh... we sold out... somebody bought them all 30 mins before you got here. Hot Topic Management - I know CASH IS KING and if YOU SNOOZE, YOU LOSE but do exercise some discretion. When you are selling an exclusive item -- please be mindful of your other customers. Why was it ok to sell 4 of the same exclusive item to one customer? Wasted my time... Yup -- one star in my books."
"I have ordered three times in the last few months. All three times my order took weeks to ship, and EVERY SINGLE TIME at least one item was finally cancelled- after a week of waiting. One of the times, I only ordered 2 tank tops because they had a buy 2 get one for $5 offer. I ordered 2, 1 was canceled. It's a scam. In a few months, they have canceled 3 of my items. If they don't have the stock, don't sell it. Use a better system that doesn't sell out of stock merchandise and doesn't make errors that cost money. Here is the most unprofessional part. One of the items I bought TWICE. Cancelled twice. The closest store that has it is over an hour away, and they do not ship from store to store. Which is also bad business.

"It would probably be cheaper to go to the states than it is to ship things with hot topic. Purchasing small items is impossible because the shipping for a small item, minimum $31 USD, is several times the price of the item being shipped. Any time I've seen the company asked about this issue, they claim that it's based on the weight of the item and the price of it, which is ridiculous and obviously not true. It doesn't cost $31 to mail a piece of jewelry. They have no explanation about how these costs are calculated on their website you just have to wait to be horrified in check out. Their incredibly vague section on international shipping could save some time for everyone by saying "if you're not from the continental US, get lost." They also have lots of ads saying that you can get free shipping if you spend enough you can get free shipping, again, if you live outside the states, be prepared to pay more in shipping than anything else. Luckily you can get similar products for a lot of things there on Amazon or similar sites that don't feel the need to trick you with padded shipping costs that they won't explain (because they can't)."

"If I could give this zero I would. My order was "pending" for over a week and I used a hot topic card! The day after I talked to someone was when my shipment was supposedly shipped. They gave me a tracking number but fedex has not received the item and its been well over 48 hours. Last time I order something it was the same thing. Took a week to pend and then I got an email saying they were sorry but an item I purchase they do not have in stock so here's a refund. How to do you oversell your products? All I got was a 15% off on my next item which expired that day so when I first saw this email was the day after so that was no good use. Order hot topic at own risk! I shall never order from hot topic again. I'm fed up with every time I order it's a constant pending, or and order is out of stock after I already purchased it, and the shipment is always sent out late which is not FedExs fault but Hot Topics fault!

"1. There are often huge delays in order shipments.
It can easily take 8-12 days before your order even gets shipped (on the items that are in stock)
2. Their customer service is horrible.
They respond to your e-mails pretty fast, but the help they give you is next to none.
They are never willing to help you.
Most of the customer reps barely speak English (and that includes written English too).
It often takes me time to even understand what they wrote down
3. If you order a collectible item, like FUNKO POP, get ready to receive it in the DAMAGED BOX and when you contact them requesting a free shipping return because the item arrived damaged, they take the life out of you by telling you that the box, not item is damaged so they can't give a free return.
So they pretend to not understand the value of collectible items like FUNKO POPS goes down A LOT when their boxes are damaged.
4. Trying to get a refund from them is another nightmare story that I do not even want to go into (tries 2 times and each time it literally took me accumulated hours of being on hold with different reps trying to make sense out of it all)
All in all, almost every time i bought something from them I had a bad experience."
"I ordered a coat for halloween in October 2017 and tried to cancel it 2 days later and was told they could not cancel the order.. then they went ahead and shipped the item anyway to the store 2 weeks later.. I did not go pick the item up because i had told them i did not want it.. December 28th i recieved an email saying i picked the item up which i did not. I called the store and they told me they put it back in stock and i would recieve a refund in 5-7 days.. now January 2018 still no refund. I called customer service number and was told i would recieve the refund in 3-5 days again. Then recieved an email saying it could take up to 2-3 WEEKS to process my refund!!! I am still waiting and WILL NEVER ORDER ANYTHING FROM THIS STORE AGAIN!!. VERY DISSAPOINTED WITH THE SERVICE THEY PROVIDE!!"
