"I bought a matress there which I tried to return within the 60 days allowed to....it turned out to be a huge painful journey of sitting in the store for 2h, getting misinformation, being on the phone with Ikea 10 times over the course of 2 months and yet - I still didnt receive the store credit (I have confirmation but Keep Hearing it hasnt been processed). Worst customer Service experience of my life and certainly my last ever interaction with Ikea (If I ever get the credit, I will sell it). Conclusion - do not buy at Ikea!"
"I ordered a loft bed for my daughter's birthday online since this "new" item is never in stock at our local store. I received it today after waiting over 2 weeks for delivery. The delivery company gave me a 5 hour time frame that we had to be home in order to receive the order. I opened all of the boxes today and found 2 cracked main boards of the bed (the boxes were not damaged). After being on the phone with the worst customer service for almost an hour and being told that I would get the replacement board in 7-10 days and only receive a 30% refund for the large delivery fee, I decided I would rather take my business elsewhere. I have spent 3 hours unpacking and packing up 7 large boxes of crap and now my daughter will not have a bed to sleep in until I can find a replacement (her old bed and mattress were picked up this morning). I will also have to waste another day waiting around for them to pick up all of these boxes. I am disgusted with Ikea! DO NOT PURCHASE ANYTHING ONLINE FROM THEM!!"
"The worst customer service ever in the USA! I waited for 20 mins on the phone to get connected with their associate & after all the holds & checking, he still hasn't got clue what to do & unable to help with my refund. I ordered items online and wanted me to go to the store for a refund which I initially had received. I updated my order the next morning of my online purchased & it was updated & not delivered but still the price was not adjusted accordingly. This is the worst online purchased I ever did & will not even recommend to anyone. Go to bed, bath & beyond to get your household items & west elm, CB2 for your furnitures!"
"Ikea online has the worst customer service I have ever experienced.
We received our order on 8/3/14. Two of the three items arrived with damage (a hole in our coffee table and paint torn off on the leg of our kitchen table). We called to have these items returned.
When we originally called we were told someone would call us back with the next steps. A week went by, no call.
Called back and found out we would need to have the items picked up and returned. I offered to just bring them to the store and return them but they insisted we ship it. Said someone would call to set up a pick-up date.
A week later no call, called back to find out the status. Apparently, nothing had been done because they said they would have to have the company call to set up pick up.
A few days later we got a call to set up pick up (which would be in a week).
From the time we received the items to the time they picked them up to take them back took about a month. That is a month of having two broken tables in pieces in our 1 bedroom apartment.
It is currently 10/2/14 and we still have no received a refund. I called today to find out the status and the man on the phone confirmed they received the items and so now he would begin processing our refund...so they got the items but needed me to call in order for them to move on? Wonderful.
A few other side notes:
You will wait on hold for anyone from 5min - 30min just to reach someone at Ikea. I never had a wait time less than 5min. Also, several times you don't even get put on hold. The automated message just says "we are busy, goodbye" (slightly nicer than that).
If you want to reach Ikea, call ***-***-****. Don't bother with their 1-800 number as it will take you a full day to get to the department you need to be at.
Finally, the refund they are giving us is for the two tables and something like 15% of shipping. Because we are keeping the couch they said they will only refund the shipping of the tables. We had a bunch of broken furniture sitting in our apartment for a month and have had to call Ikea once a week for two months and we only get 15% of shipping refunded. Ikea's customer service is awful, no attempt was made to appease us, I like their furniture and items but buy from the store directly, don't buy anything online. It will hurt you in the end if it doesn't all come in one piece (2/3 of ours did not).

"Worst customer support experience I have had in over a decade. I placed an order on the 27th of August. No one called the day before the delivery date of September 10th to give me a delivery window/timeframe, as promised. No one showed up on the day of the delivery or called to say they would not make it. When I called the customer service line, I waited over 30 minutes to get throug to someone and had to call back several times in order to have the system not hang up on me. They had the wrong telephone number for me and I gave them the correct one. They opened a case number and said someone would call me back within 48 hours to reschedule the delivery. No one called. When I called them back, now 16 days after my missed delivery, I was again hung up on by the automated phone system multiple times and waited over 50 minutes to speak to someone. I asked them what telephone number they had recorded for me, and once again it was incorrect (they had not updated it, per my last phone call). They have now rescheduled the delivery for later this week, but I am very pessimistic that it will happen. I would never order from IKEA online again and would not recommend online orders from them. I will be filing a complaint with the Better Business Bureau."

"I ordered online for some items including a dining table, and when the table was shipped, the table top was damaged. And IKEA states on its website to report within 48h of delivery if there is any damage, which I did via their website, because the phone never gets through to the relevant personnel (I called almost 10 times and each call lasts at least 15 minutes). And the website states IKEA will response within 24-48h, which obviously they did not, and there was no electronic notification that they received my report. What kind of after sales service is this? Walmart responded to my report of item not delivered immediately after, and offered to refund/resend the item again. I will advise all do not order online from IKEA!"
"Terrible amateurish packaging, with one box and its contents crushed. I cannot believe they would package items for shipment in this manner. My children would do a better job. The box which was not damaged contained the wrong items, not the least bit similar to what I had ordered. I like Ikeas stuff and I may purchase on site in the store in the future, but I would not advise ordering online. If you want it shipped to your home, go with someone else who knows how to do this. Ikea clearly doesnt get it."
"I tried placing an order online and at every step of the way, they have ruined the order in the following way:
1. Cancelled my order and blamed my bank when it was their billing department's fault
2. The automated online service hung up on me multiple times
3. The employees could not transfer me to the appropriate department
4. When actually delivered, they damaged a piece of the order so I could not build my shelving unit
5. I had to call the IKEA to figure out what was going on with my order with no updates
6. When trying to reschedule my delivery for the damaged part, I was emailed an estimated delivery date 5 days later. That day came and went with no delivery or contact and when called, I found out that the estimated delivery will be 10 days later.
7. When trying to request a supervisor, initially none were to be found, I was transferred to the wrong department or out right refused the transfer
8. When finally speaking to a supervisor, I found out that my order for the replacement of the part that was damaged (and never delivered) was never placed because they were "busy with the kitchen sale".
I am still dealing with issues with this order. I will never order online again and am currently doubtful that I will ever shop at IKEA again after this. IKEA has basically made their statement that they only care about the money and they do not care about their customers. I will not recommend this to any family or friends or even acquaintances. Multiple hours/days were wasted on this order. Time off work was wasted. Worst experience and customer service ever. I expected more from such a large organization and am severely disappointed
If any other customers are reading this review and is having the same problem, I recommended that you file a complaint to the better business bureau or talk to your credit card company to file a dispute for payment. That was the only to get IKEA's attention."

We ordered 8 items. Only half of them arrived correctly. Important pieces were missing, wrong pieces were shipped, hours of wait time on the phone hotline. Today finally they picked up the stuff. Very uncooperative delivery company. Still waiting to get my money back. If they don't, I'll file a BBB complaint and take them to small claims court."
"TERRIBLE experience. DO NOT BUY IKEA ONLINE!!! I placed a $1000 order 6 weeks ago. I received the items about a week afterward. When I opened the items to assemble them, one was badly damaged, and another was missing a part. I called immediately to ask for them to pick up the damaged items and get a replacement. I was upset because I'd have to wait longer than necessary to obtain the items I had already been charged for. Days went by and Ikea wouldn't contact me to let me know whether the replacement items had shipped. The missing part, however, came on the mail after a few days. As for the item that was damaged, I contacted Ikea several times--each one, they'd come up with a story explaining why the item hadn't shipped yet. It took 4 ENTIRE weeks for the damaged item to be replaced. The delivery company told me they'd deliver between 3 and 7pm. They arrived at 7.30pm, one of the guys damaged my newly bought Ikea desk when used it to sign the delivery form, and guess what? When I opened the box of the replaced item, the replacement was badly damaged too! You could say the problem is with the delivery company and not with Ikea, but first, it was Ikea's ineptitude (not the delivery company) that caused the item to take 4 full weeks to be replaced; second, when I called Ikea to complain about the item that I had received damaged twice, the person I talked to was extremely rude (you would think that after so many mistakes they'd apologize, right?); third, the replacement for the item that came damaged twice is apparently going to take another 10 days to get here--I asked them to speed up the delivery and they said they couldn't do anything to speed it up."
"The absolute worst experience. Do not order online. You will spend money for deleivery, but no way to contact the delivery service, no idea when to expect your merchandise - took weeks, 48 hours to go through each box to make sure complete, but good luck trying to find someone to talk to! I finally travelled to a store to complain, was told item would be sent out, never happened. When I did finally reach a customer service agent was told I would need to purchase the missing item as I should have contacted them immediately (tried!). Beware!! Lesson learned - NEVER will I order from IKEA again!"
