I have used the laptop for a week now and it was great until recently when the DVD/CDRW gave me problems. I spoke to Allen and another rma department guy to try and solve the problem. This was a known problem with the DVD/CDRW drive, where the drive was intermittently working. Even though I could not reproduce the problem to tell Allen, they went ahead and gave me an RMA number anyway incase the problem comes back. I also had other small questions that they help answered. Great staff!!
I just had one problem with JNCS website, where it states,"Battery life is amazing with this product - using a 1.4Ghz CPU, with constant use, we have consistantly observed 4.5+ hour battery life before recharge". I could only get 4 hours with Max Battery settings. I have the lowest speed processor, 5400rpm HDD, no WIFI, and DVD/CDRW. I'm just picky because I was aiming for a very portable laptop and goodies. Overall, very good laptop and company.
JNCS is not the cheapest but close enough with the excellent staff on-hand. However, they are cheaper than PowerNotebooks and has the same dedicated staff to answer my questions."

"I searched all over the web for this particular notebook configuration (an ASUS M3N with SXGA+ screen). I called JNCS, finally, and spoke with the owner. I told him my specific needs and found him to be not only helpfull and professional, but a nice guy. It turned out he had a unit coming in which was being returned by the person who bought it. Jerry (the owner) not only told me the buyer's reasons for returning the unit, but he answered all of my questions. He did this all without any hint of an attitude or complaint toward the previuos buyer. I found that a pretty good indicator of character on his part and this further gained my confidence. I recieved the notebook a day and a half after I ordered it (a 3000 mile trip). It was PERFECT! I've been using it for 10 days and every day I like it a bit more.

"My motherboard required replacing last summer which J and N did for me very promptly and reasonably. As they have a record of my computer
and its components, I called them last week when
my video driver became corrupt to see what the fix was as I could not find a driver cd. J and N Tech Vinh told me exactly how to download and install the driver and emailed a link to me which took me to the exact driver needed. I was back in business in minutes and delighted. "I had purchased the ASUS M 3000 N sight unseen since it was over the internet. By the time it was all said and done I had it in my hands on January 10th, 2004 and proceeded to install XP Pro. In the interim I had the opportunity to live with the unit and discovered some quirks that I didn't like. For example, on the right hand side when you press the PgDn & End keys my pinky, not my index finger would sink down! Then I recall a nightmare Toshiba I had which caused me to replace that unit's keyboard once every 6-months or so since it faultered. I spoke with merchant who told me he'll replace keyboard for free if it breaks down, but also advised me of a 15% restocking fee if I wanted to return it, which @ a $1500 purchase price comes to a whopping $225! This in spite of the fact that's not even 15-days since I had said unit in my hands. That is absolutely outrageous, considering from what I am now told profit margins in the notebook business run @ 10% clip! Caveat Emptor on me, but this merchant MUST reconsider revising this outrageous "re-stocking fee" which in this case ends up making him a greater profit. Further this unit's optical drive loads on the right hand side and is underneath the keyboard. Thus this sinking feeling one gets from the keyboard and this merchant's unjust fees."
