I e-mailed their technical service dept. for any ideas what to use. Tony Green replied promptly, he needed more info. I sent schematic & parts list. He promptly replied again with their part # and why it would work as opposed to one I thought of using. I placed my order for 30 plus other parts from them as soon as he replied. "EDIT: Surprisingly soon after posting my review on Reseller Ratings, Yvette at Jameco replied to my concerns about some technical confusion with shipping costs.
Basically, I purchased some items and the shipping was labeled "to be determined". I trusted the business, and essentially wrote a carte blanche for shipping which ended up being higher than I expected, based on estimates listed on the website. I called customer service to try to cancel the order, but the package had already been sent, and nothing could be done. Admittedly, when I called, I only briefly mentioned the discrepancy, but perhaps I could have handled the situation more constructively by pressing the issue & giving more details. Instead, I opted to rate the company here on Reseller Ratings.
Ultimately the problem was found, and Yvette fixed my situation after a brief explanation about the issue.
Having worked in information technology I understand that we do not live in a perfect world, and I am very forgiving. Based on this experience, and the (much more reasonable) shipping charges, I definitely recommend Jameco based on this and their other merits, chiefly of which: great customer service. Other benefits of working with them include a great selection, easy to navigate website, FAST shipping (ironic), and competitive shipping charges compared to other online retailers. Please keep in mind, these thoughts are from the perspective of an amateur electronics hobbyist, so feel free to take my review with a grain of salt.

"I have used Jameco parts to service equipment at work and on my own repair business since I started it in tech school. Now continuing my undergrad degree I find them even more usefull with the online catalog and the cookbook series of experiments. Their line of parts cover replacements hard to find at other vendors along with a host of kits and development boards. I still use a wood handled electricians knife I bought when I first started ordering tools with Jameco."
" I have placed three orders so far with Jameco. All three of them were on a Wednesday. One of which was around 4:30pm. I received all three orders on the following Saturday. That is consistently fast order processing/shipment.
My first order was their component grab bag and their surprise grab bag. As for the component grab bag, I was surprised. I expected to receive a few useful/common parts and the rest would be left over's that they wanted to push to get rid of. That was not the case at all. As for the surprise grab bag. Again I was surprised. There were parts in there that I didn't even know I wanted until I seen them in there. I was like a kid in a candy store sorting through all that stuff, and have made use of a decent portion of it already.
As someone else posted in their review, it is easy to blow your budget out of the water when browsing the online catalog and placing items in your cart. Don't get me wrong, the prices are cheap. They just have nearly everything I want/need and I am only a hobbyist and on a budget. When you start looking through their items you will see they carry tons of tools, components, hobby items, and even everything you will need for the Arduino. So whether your a hobbyist like me or a professional, you should be able to find what you want. If not, then ask if they can get it for you.
One more thing. I sent them an email thanking them for their fast and friendly service. I quickly received an email back thanking me and stating that they were going to actually print out my email and hang it in their break room because it meant something to them that I took the time to write. This is a company that has values and honors their customers. That means a great deal more to me than their huge selection and cheap prices. You will not go wrong placing an order with Jameco!"

"Jameco, a seller of electronic parts, tools and educational books/supplies has fast, courteous service willing to work with customers to swiftly address issues. Whether it is improving the speed with which to find an order without a part number, or to find the needed parts, they are willing to assist customers to meet their needs. My order of grab bags, 20 drawer bin, professional electronic tools and complete electronics course book are great. The tools came in a keyed, padded metal box. The book and catalog came in sealed plastic packaging which protected them in shipment. Handy sticky refill labels were included to affix to the 20 drawer cabinet so that it would be easier to re-order the right part from them.
Jameco's website is informative and intuitive. Their catalog is extensive and concise. Their staff is courteous and concerned to resolve any customer service issues efficiently and effectively.

Their catalogs have puzzler questions. Their website and newsletters have training videos. One was on printing your own circuit boards. Another was on making a robot.

"Wow, cannot believe how helpful their tech staff was! Was buying a power supply for our office LED lighting and Tony pointed out it had a fan. I wondered aloud how loud the fan might be since it will be in an office environment and Tony offered to grab one from inventory and test it. A few minutes later I had an email telling me how many decibels it was at different levels of load and at different lengths, as well as a helpful decibel level reference guide.
