Parts got returned without warning - Lack of Communication

"I ordered two stone guards for a 1988 VW Jetta 1.8L 5-sp. On the day that the order was meant to be delivered to my house, I checked my credit card statement to see that I had a return from Jim Ellis VW for the cost of 1 of these pieces. I had not been contacted about a piece being returned, nor had I asked for a piece to be returned. I checked the part numbers that I had ordered on their website and that's when I found one of the parts now shows as "No Longer Available". I got home from work and received the box, opened it up and sure enough, there was only one of the pieces I ordered, along with two invoices. One that showed my original order and the other that showed my return. Before the day that I received my order, I was NEVER told that one of my parts had become No Longer Available and couldn't be ordered. I wasn't contacted asking if I'd still like the other piece that they could order or if I would prefer to cancel the order as a whole. If I was to be contacted, I would've told them to cancel it as I could've purchased both of the pieces from the UK and paid the same price as what both would've cost from Jim Ellis VW. I only ordered them from Jim Ellis because they could get both of them (as their online inventory showed) and they were in the US, so I thought I'd get them faster than ordering from the UK. Upon receipt of the package, I immediately called the phone number listed on the invoice because I did not want just one piece, as ordering one piece in the US and the other from the UK costs me about $30 more than ordering both pieces in a single transaction. When calling the number, I clicked thru a series of automated menus only to be left at the same dead end message saying that an operator will get to me shortly. I waited for 30 minutes before hanging up and starting over. I started over 3 more times after that trying different menus to get to a real person before I finally was able to speak to a person. That person, who was just a secretary essentially, transferred me to the parts manager desk phone, which immediately went to voicemail and I left a message for him giving him my name and phone number so he could call me back. That was 3 business days ago and I'm not expecting to hear from him at this point. The other issue I have, is that with my return they did not lower my shipping cost. The single piece cost $26.49, so my original order cost $52.98 before shipping which, according to their website FAQ, shipping should cost $16.95, which is what I was charged. Upon being given a return for one item though, my order total dropped to $26.49 before shipping, which puts me in the bracket to have a shipping cost of $13.95. My parts arrived in a medium flat rate box that, with a commercial account, costs $12.80 to shipping anywhere in the continental US. So not only did Jim Ellis VW not contact me asking for me to advise them on my own order, they overcharged for shipping, and have a lackluster customer service department. I have placed two transactions prior to this that had no issues but after the lack of communication I experienced on this order, Jim Ellis VW has lost my business. If you're trying to order parts for an older car and you know there's probably not going to be a lot of stock in the US for the part you need, prepare to be frustrated. If your vehicle is newer than 2000, you should be fine."

Don't give these people your money

"DONT SO BUSINESS WITH THEM.
I purchased a $121 plastic & chrome part for my & received the plastic part with out the chrome which they listed as at $40+.
Other than one return email I received stating that the chrome was extra (despite their own contradictory listings) I was unable to make any further contact.
I shipped the part back as required by their returns policy but was still unable to get anyone to contact me.
To date I'm out nearly $150.00 is part & shipping cost.
