"We just received our Sony VAIO VGP-BPS8 battery and CD with instructions and program to flash the bios so the 3rd party battery would work for the Sony laptop. The Sony laptop saw the CD as being blank and asked to format it, even when navigating directly to the DVD drive. I put the CD into my newer Dell desktop computer and it also wanted to format the disk, but also was able to recognize that there were files on the disk when I navigated to the DVD drive. I'm not a hardware wizard so I have no explanation for this, but can tell you that the disk wasn't formatted in a way that the Sony VAIO, which the battery replacement was for, could recognize the files on it. I ended up having to download the bios update directly from the Level 8 website in order to proceed.
Beyond this issue, the battery seems to be working fine at this point with the VAIO laptop."

I like buying brand names I am familiar with, I feel comfortable having that information. "I bought an ac adapter for an Acer Aspire 6920. I'd figure I'll try an aftermarket one since the Acer brand seems to go out in less than a year. This will be my third replacement and the laptop is not even 2 years old. Hopefully the Level 8 one will outlast the Acers. I chose Level 8 because of their customer reviews (good and bad). They appear to have the most positive response compared to other websites I've looked at, and they didn't disappoint. Friendly operators, good prices, speedy delivery, and what appears to be a sturdier quality. The plastics seem like a thicker and more durable material and the adapter weighs about 3 oz more than the Acer brand. I usually don't bother writing a review but I could use the coupon for a new battery. "
