The website is misleading because it shows an ESTIMATE of when a product ships. BUYER BEWARE if you don't read the tiny print that says to the effect, YOU CAN'T RELY ON THIS ESTIMATE IF YOU ARE PLANNING A JOB--you CAN'T MAKE BUYING DECISIONS ON IT BECAUSE OFTEN ITEMS ARE DELAYED!! For instance I ordered dimmers and face plates, 3-5 day lead time estimate on the website, they shipped the faceplates in 10 days, then 10 days later the dimmers ship, well after the install date! Then, after being so unreliable, they want to charge a restocking fee because the item eventually shipped. The customer service people tell you that you needed to read the small print! BUYER BEWARE, SHOP ELSEWHERE!!!!"
"I enjoyed my experience shopping on the website. It was very easy to maneuver the site to find the light fixtures for the different rooms. I couldn’t believe the really huge selection of lighting and the many options available on the site. I liked the detailed information on each light fixture especially if the lights could be used in the ‘wet’ environment of the kitchen and bathroom. I was able to order all the light fixtures for our remodel. The online help was appreciated too."

"I ordered a pair of items listed as in stock and received an email that said the order was complete. One of the pair was received and after several days called ATG about the delivery of the second. I was informed that the second was on back ordered for 2 months. I wanted to return the one received except was informed that I would need to pay the shipping, late amended to pay shipping both ways.
I did manage to get a refund for the second of the pair. I spoke with customer service 6 times, twice with promised return calls that did not occur. I will not use this company again."
"First we were impressed with their selection and service. But then: bait-and-switch. The product description on the website did not match what they delivered.
The Minka lights we ordered we described as "bronze" (probably sells better) But they are just flat brown. Not matching the other bronze fixtures we own. Despite of the misfit in color, they will charge fees for returns, referring to their fine print. Careful!"

"I ordered two floor lamps from this company. They arrived damaged. I used their online chat service to process a return. They told me to package them up the way they arrived, issued a return number, and told me that I would be hearing from them in about a week with the date for pickup. Over a week went by and I had not heard from them so I sent a message asking when they would be picked up and was told that the manufacturer wanted proof of the damage and insisted that I take photos. I had already packed them securely, which was no simple matter since the packing was complicated. I told them that this was an unfair burden, since I had already received authorization for a return and was not told to take photos originally, which I would have done while the lamps were out of the boxes. Then the great customer service took a downward spiral to the point that I realized that I was going nowhere with them. It was at that point that I filed a complaint with my credit card company where the issue is still in investigation. Buyer beware about this company!"
"Unsatisfactory. Just attempted to cancel order due to constant "shipping soon" email and no item. I have not received the item that I ordered late April. Keep getting the same email stating "The item(s) below are expected to ship direct from the manufacturer's warehouse within the next business day. We are currently attempting to confirm the status of your shipment with the manufacturer, and hope to provide you with a shipment confirmation within the next 2-3 business days". "
"Lighting Universe is a disaster and you buy from them at considerable risk. I purchased more than $1,000 of outdoor lighting from them. Kichler was the manufacturer. The lights were delivered and one of the largest was damaged -- a pane of glass was broken prior to shipment (glass was laying above packaging support material). I asked Lighting universe how to exchange my broken lamp for an unbroken one. In a three-way chat with the manufacturer rep, the Lighting Universe rep insisted that I accept a new pane of glass and fix it myself -- they would send instructions. These two companies deserve each other. Kichler is a Cleveland, Ohio-based company -- enough said. You don't deserve to spend hard earned money and expect this kind of customer service. I would strongly suggest you not buy Kichler products or use Lighting Universe."
"i mailed my lamp back in jan. 2010 which looked nothing like the picture and could not be assembled ( yet still i have to pay restocking and shipping) and am still waiting for a refund. i have been told that if i dont have the tracking number there is nothing that they can do. do not buy from this company! pictures are not accurate and you will never get your refund!"

I have spent over 2K with them in the last year with no returns and yet have been in a prolonged battle with them based on one single item that was returned to the vendor by UPS due to a "In-Person Signature Only" stipulation that the vendor placed on an isolated shipment. Despite me signing the back of the UPS slip 3 times and writing notes to leave on porch - They would not leave it. I even called both ATG and the vendor to tell them what was happening - they recommended that I sort it out when the product was received back at the vendor. Well...Here's where these guys are the biggest rip-offs: THEY CHARGE 50% RESTOCKING FEES!!! Albeit I wanted this product but I couldn't take a day off to wait for a random delivery from UPS! Now they are charging me $60 for a product that cost $120 and I didn't receive it!
The customer service reps are very rude and are in cahoots with one another. If you ask for a senior supervisor or senior rep, they put you on hold for a long time while they go tell their superior their skewed and biased version of events. Results? You get the same non-helpful response from all of them! One of them had the nerve to ask me why I would cancel the re-order of the same product because "either way you are going to be out $60 extra dollars"! Needless to say, I immediately called up my credit card company and files a dispute.

I ordered and 20 hours later the order status (no e-mail) said that it was on backorder for 3 months. The charge was already placed on my credit card. I cancelled the order, which took three days to get confirmed, and the charge has not be reversed on my credit card."
