We live in the country with no close neighbors and we enjoy the feeling of knowing our property is monitored with this system. We love the fact we can rewind events and they are time stamped. "My Lorex Edge is a a great system. I have 4 cameras, the only issue is the wireless connectivity. It is hard to have direct line of sight and cover all my home. The cameras that are furtherest from my DVR box occasionally lose connectivity due to weather.
All in all I like the system.
I would appreciate software that allow me to view my cameras remotely from my MS Surface with Windows 8.1"

"I presently have 2 other Lorex wireless systems, and with their ease of use and quality decided to purchase the LW482 system. My other systems are 4 channel and I wanted to upgrade to an 8 channel system. Purchasing this at a sale price, plus receiving an additional Lorex discount sealed the deal. Easy to install, no port forwarding issues, or really any IT knowledge required as the Stratus connection takes care of that. Easily connected to my android phone with the Lorex Stratus app and can now remotely watch all my systems easily. I have had no issues with wireless connectivity. The furthest distance between the farthest camera and receiver is approximately 160 feet, and that signal travels through 2 exterior walls and 2 interior walls. I have not experienced any issues using 6 wireless cameras, although 4 is the recommended maximum. I neglected to mention that the DVR that I received was actually an upgraded model from what was shown in the product overview. So I am very pleased. Additionally, whenever I have had an issue that required me to open a ticket I have always received excellent customer service - something I know you will not receive from one of those auction website sellers. All in all I have been very pleased with Lorex and their products."

Pros:
Camera quality, and construction are very nice, Power over Ethernet eliminates running separate video and power. 100' of Cat5e is more than enough cable for most applications and can be extended to 300'. (just be careful with the jacks!, lil tape on the ends solves that when running the wire thru walls)

Superb video quality in both day and night. Extremely easy to set up, included setup wizards do all the work for you (to configure router/modem) so you can view cameras via Internet or Mobile device.

Very easy to install.

Easily upgrade HD capacity, and they include SATA cable and mounting accessories for 2nd HD.

Very easy to administer the system directly from NVR or via PC client software or via internet. In fact the PC client and Internet versions are easier than the NVR interface.

Cons:
Dome cameras can not be wall mounted, well you can if you don't mind upside down video, no matter how you configure the camera the picture will be upside down. However this was solved by purchasing a dome camera "L" bracket from a 3rd Party.

No PTZ cameras can be installed on this system.

NVR Fan noise is very loud. I thought I wouldn't mind it in my office... but its slightly annoying.

Did not like that the cameras did not come with a waterproof connection. Solved by purchasing small plastic TELCO enclosures.

Also to note:
Unlike others I found Lorex Customer service to be fine.. Yes at times they took longer than average to answer some of my questions but they did solve my problems and addressed issues. (this system was originally offered with a 32" TV/monitor but was changed the weekend I ordered it to a 27" monitor. I was offered a substantial credit for my inconvenience added to the 18% off made it an EXCELLENT deal!)
