"I had the worst possible experience with Mac of All Trades. They sent me a lemon and would not take it back, or fix it. Two weeks after it was delivered, and after I paid $600 for it, it stopped working. I emailed them and they simply told me to take somewhere else to have it fixed... would not take it back! What kind of company motto do they have..."Buy our crap and like it". They DO NOT stand behind their product. I took it to Apple and when they tried to boot it up it made the most god awful sound... like a motorcycle starting up, then a horrible screech. It's going to cost a lot just to have the POS fixed. I should have bought a brand new one at this point. DO NOT buy from Mac of All Trades. You've been warned. -Alex"

A rep from Mac of All Trades, MacofAllTrades, has responded:

“The transaction date for this was actually 12/06/08. Mr. Vazquez contacted us approximately one month after the 30-day hardware warranty had expired. As stated in every product description, all products come with a 30-day warranty. At any time during that 30 days, the customer has the option of purchasing our Extended Warranty, which covers the product for 12 months from date of receipt of the item. Due to the fact that the computer was purchased in December and failure was reported in February, we were unable to cover the unit for warranty service. However, we offered to attempt to troubleshoot the issues and assist the customer in finding repair services in his area. We sent an extensive list of troubleshooting options.”

"I ordered a black macbook from them about a month ago. I live in western new york, but it arrived in about three days. When it came, I was upset that that the notebook turned on, but didn't actually boot. The notebook looked in perfect condition however. I contacted them via email and within an hour they sent me an apology email and a fed ex label to ship it back. They fixed whatever the problem was in two days, and Fed Ex delivered it speedily to me 2 days later. When I got it back, thankfully it worked. I also noticed that the notebook came with 4gb instead of 2 like advertised, which was a nice surprise. Aside from the initial hitch, I couldn't be happier with Mac of All Trades. The people that contacted, did so in both a rapid and professional manner. The condition of the laptop looks astonishing. I was actually stupified when it didn't work, because the notebook looked as if it had never been used before. I was also really happy with the price. $650 was a very reasonable price for this notebook, especially when you take into consideration they go for $700-800 on ebay with a stock 80gb hd and 2gb ram. "I ordered a MacBook Pro as a Christmas gift from Mac of All Trades but ran into a problem with the credit card verification program they use not matching my address with the card, so the order was not approved. I called and talked with Chris who worked through the issue for an entire week and eventually accepted my card and sent it through manually. I am grateful to Chris and I highly recommend this company. The laptop is great by the way."

"Amazing quality, amazing customer service, amazing price. I purchased 2007 model Macbook Pro 15 from MacofAllTrades. It arrived within a week, was in the condition that the description stated, and even came with Leopard 10.5.8 instead of Tiger, which is what the website said would be loaded. I will definitely be a return customer to MacofAllTrades. Its hard to find a good reseller of mac computers online, MacofAllTrades is the best! Good Job guys!"

"I was a little apprehensive about buying a mac online sight unseen. I had read every single review I could find about Mac of All Trades. But, to be 100% honest I already knew a little about them. I used to work at an Apple Reseller in the Tampa area. I called and spoke to a very nice lady that told me they just got three of the MacBook Pro's that I was looking for in stock.

She even checked them to tell me if there were any dents. She told me they had a couple of scratches but with the age of the machines that is not uncommon. When she said there were no dents I press "Checkout".

I received the computer today 03/05/10. I am super pleased with the condition the computer is in. Not only are there no dents I couldn't even find a noticeable scratch! I am super stoked! I went ahead with the one year warranty and I can't wait to get it home and put it through it's paces!

"Once again this company continues to impress. I purchased a "scratch and dent" macbook for a good price since it was "B-stock," but it's perfect in everyway. Even the battery is exceptional, rare on a used machine. Two things: they say "no returns." Don't worry, their standards are very high. If they ship it it's perfect. It also says "ships within two business days." They ship immediately. I keep going back to this company, and send my friends there, because I am constantly not just pleased, but amazed. Good stuff for a great price with great service."

"The worst place on the net to do business. I ordered a mac pro from them with my credit/debit card. The order was debited to my account. I then phoned them two days later to get an exact shipping arrival date. They told me a day I wouldn't be available, since they wont let you pick up your order from FEDEX and you need to be home I wanted to speed up the delivery date, so I orderd expedited shipping for $40 more. My bank had put a fraud stolen lock on my card simply because I made this order. I didn't no, but my card was declined for the additional shipping charge. I called the bank very angry for them to do that for no reason except I used my card for a $1361. charge. They fixed it. M.A.T Promptly canceled my order even though the original charge had cleared and posted to my account. They told me I couldn't use my card unless I filled out and extensive amount of forms. I said that was ridiculous when my original charge went through. They talk to me VERY RUDE as if I was a thief and refused to accept any other form of payment from me. My bank said it was them who canceled the order. This Place SUCKS ! and I will never recommend them to any of my friends in fact If I here there name I will warn people to stay away unless you want to be treated like crap if any little thing happens in a transaction. They basically told me they didn't want my business or people like me and to go else where. I did a co called The DV Warehouse Much Much Better. "

A rep from Mac of All Trades, MacofAllTrades, has responded:

“Unfortunately, when a bank tells us to decline a card, we must decline the card. Once they decline it for one purchase, our merchant processor told us to decline the card for any other purchases, as well, as the bank had flagged the card for possible fraudulent orders. In order to protect the customer, we canceled the order. Because of the issue with the card, in order to both protect the customer and the business, we offered the customer wire transfer payment methods, with verification paperwork. With 20-30 fraudulent order attempts PER DAY, we tend to be very cautious in order to protect our customers.”

"I've had two really good experiences with Mac of All Trades, both times as a buyer.

The first was approx 3 years ago. My sister's laptop broke and she needed a new computer cheap & fast. We had a new (to her) iMac on her desk in a week. Computer arrived in exactly the condition described and is still going strong.

The latest was a few weeks ago. I ordered a 17" MacBook Pro. Everything was handled really quickly. I got the computer on Friday and by Saturday it was clear that the logicboard was toast (a bad case of Random Shutdown Syndrome). I tried all the non-hardware fixes I could but nothing worked.

I emailed Mac of All Trades on Saturday night and had an appology and a UPS shipping label in my email by Monday morning. I nagged a few times about the credit to my card but that was processed in a totally reasonable amount of time (approx 4 business days). They even refunded the initial shipping, something I didn't ask for and consider above and beyond.

Physically the laptop was in good shape. It still had a sticker near the battery from the previous owner, a convention rental company. The power cord was a little banged up but still completely functional.

It's not Mac of All Trades' fault that Apple laptops are some of the most temperamental computers in the world. I've had problems with every mac laptop I've owned/supported (with the exception of the old Powerbook 100 back in the day). Personally, it was just a reminder that I want AppleCare with my Apple laptop so I settled for a new one with a much smaller screen.

I would order from Mac of All Trades again in a heartbeat, especially the next time I need a desktop machine and as I help family/friends upgrade to Intel Macs. Customer service was excellent.

"Paranoid!

I am an expat, living in Sweden. I tried to time an order of a computer from the company with a return trip to the U.S.

On my first attempt to purchase from the company, I used my Swedish Master Card debit account, shipping to a friend in the U.S. This was promptly refused, siting that the company does not ship overseas on orders less than five items.

My wife then placed the order on her U.S., American Express account, which is still tied to our U.S. address, shipping to the same friend. Payments to this account are made through Sun Trust Bank, which happens to be based in the same state as Mac of all Trades.

This order was refused because the company recognized the Swedish IP address. The company asked that we satisfy some nebulous policy that they have for selling products across the internet, when they do not even have a telephone number by which we can contact them.

I find that the company has an agenda, other than that of conducting business.

In 2009, some people travel the world, living in various places, for reasons as many as there are people doing this. A perfect example is a group of great guys that I worked with, traveling with the show, "Walking with Dinosaurs." Most of the road crew is from the U.S., but there are some from Great Britain. These guys and girls will be on the road for the next two years, with only a one week break between shows.

According to the policy of Mac of all Trades, they can't place orders with this company while they are on the road.

“Since 90% of fraudulent order attempts come from outside of the United States, we have made it a blanket policy to not accept orders placed from outside the US, nor with cards with billing addresses outside the US. This policy is clearly outlined in our FAQ section of our site.”

"I ordered a 17-inch iMac G4 from them because it was a great deal for $199. It came delivered on-time, and was packed extremely well to prevent damage during shipping. The computer came as advertised and in good condition (albeit, used condition, you can't expect them to be mint) By "good" condition, I mean a couple of imperfections on the case from bumps or nicks, absolutely nothing notable, and nothing you'd really notice from a distance. (Like I said, these are used computers, and this particular one is probably older than most they sell on their site)

The computer booted up, and works perfectly, I have no problems with this machine.

I plan to buy from them again.

"I gave this company the benefit of the doubt, and ordered an 17" iMac core 2 duo. The superdrive died the day I received the product. It was also packed in a haphazard manner. I really could not go without a computer for a long time, so I took the iMac to Mac-Pro solutions in Richmond, VA. In repairing the machine the Apple certified tech noted the following: "Sata connector on logic board was faulty, the screen was not the original and the EMI shielding was torn off." The tech also noted that several cables had to be rearranged and believed the cord for the optical drive was being crushed." Do yourself a favor and avoid Mac of all Trades at all costs, unless your money means nothing to you. "

A rep from Mac of All Trades, MacofAllTrades, has responded:

“We do not intentionally sell machines with hardware issues. All machines must pass Apple's System Diagnostics before they are sold. The Diagnostics are run twice: once when the machine arrives to us from the seller, and once more before it ships. As holds true with any product of technology, failures can come at any time and are not necessarily inherent from the manufacturing date/date of sale. We only open the machines if they fail our testing. This particular unit was not opened by our Techs at any time.”

"I received a Mac Pro Dual 2-Core 2.66 from this company a few months ago. The physical condition was listed as good, but I would have called it average...it was scuffed and scratched all over and bent at the superdrive door to the point where the drive tray gets stuck occasionally. The mighty mouse track ball doesn't work properly when scrolling up. It came with silver "Warranty Void if Opened" stickers all over exterior and interior of the unit, which leave residue all over the unit. The warranty is only 30 days, so I waited until opening it to add a hard drive. When I did, I found two missing drive sleds. The hard drive I added initially didn't work in bay 2, but did in bay 3. I contacted customer service who immediately replied that the unit was out of warranty. After a lot of back and forth, they asked me to take it to the Apple Store to get it diagnosed. In the meantime, the Seagate drive I purchased was too loud so returned it for a WD, which ended up working in Bay 2, after all. I asked if they could send me the drive sleds and ensure they were labelled 1 and 3. They sent them labelled 2 and 4...the ones I already had, saying they were "interchangeable." This company is piecing computers together from what I later gathered and they don't seem to care if the unit is complete or not when they send it. They don't understand customer service and they are way too quick to hide behind their 30 day "warranty." I regret this purchase and will not consider them again. Spend the extra money and give it to a company that understands service."

"they are an excellent company. My laptop, Powerbook G4, arrived in excellent condition. However, the battery was defective. I called them immediately and they sent me a new one to replace it even though batteries are not normally covered under their warranty. No arguments! They are very helpful over the phone as well. highly recommended."

"This was the best online shopping experience I have had in a long time. I placed my order and after receiving the confirmation I realized I wanted to add another item to the order. I immediately contacted them via e-mail asking them to add the additional item. They responded quickly and about a day later the order was shipped. When it arrived it was exactly what I wanted and included both items. It was wrapped like nothing I have ever seen before. They are truly professionals and take pride in what they do. I will continue to shop with them for any MAC needs that I may have in the future."

"I would splurge and the get the warranty. I bought a laptop from them and had battery problems right away. They kindly sent me a new battery right away. But I always had keyboard problems with the computer and when I closed the lap top one night, I heard a pop, and the screen was cracked. One of the keys, I guess, had gotten loose and this caused the screen to crack. Their response when I told them the screen was cracked? "Sorry for the inconvenience." Not the best way to handle a problem like this. "
