"A very smooth transaction with MicroTech. The price on my item was good, the shipping was quick, and ordering online was a breeze. I especially like their hassle-free return policy, not that I plan on returning anything, but it's nice to see a company with such an easy return policy. Most online resellers charge you restocking fees and it's usually a pain in the neck to get an RMA number and so on, not so with MicroTech. I will definitely do business with them again."
"I purchased a Netgear FA410CR 10/100 PCMCIA Ethernet Adapter Kit on Oct 28. I received it today OCt 31. THis i was happy about. However, when i opened the box i discovered that it was a refurbished unit. Nowhere on the website did it mention this when i ordered it, not did it mention refurbished on my receipt that was in teh box, or in my order confirmation email, or in my recent order history on their website. I called them to ask them about it and the guy told me that it did say it was a refurbished unit. This item is no longer on their website, so we couldn't check that, but there is no evidence to support their claim that it said refurbished. I gat angry with the guy on the phone and i hung up. then i sent an email to the orders department about this, but i have yet to receive a response. I haven't had a chance to try out the card, but that is not the issue. The issue is that i ordered a new card and received a refurbished one. Stay away from this company."
"I recently purchased a barebones Athlon 1700+ system from them. The unit was packed very nicely and it was received damage free and with all the stuff it's supposed to come with. However, the front panel connectors were plugged into the wrong jumpers on the motherboard and the FSB was set at 100Mhz instead of 133 Mhz. This, to me, was no big deal. Other less savvy customers would have a little more trouble with stuff like this. I would guess most people who buy a barebones would have some experience but for many people this may be the first computer they are building and stuff like this could cause frustration. I'm just happy I got what I paid for."
"Micro Tech had the best deal on a Playstation 2 which included free shipping. I ordered on a Sunday night and received a shipment notification by Monday afternoon. Received the PS2 the following Friday via UPS ground. Item was packaged well and excactly what I had ordered. Overall a good experience."
"03/03/2003 Update
I am sorry but I just had to comment again. I recently dealt with a company called Tufshop.com. Ouch! Mistake. They sent a smashed MB, then after I returned it they sent the exact motherboard right back to me.
After dealing with them I had to come back here and praise this company again. I wish they were all like them.
This is a great company.
I ordered a Geforce video card with
TV out. I put on the order I only wanted it if it had RCA out.
I got it a few days later with only composite out. I called and
said I had only wanted it with RCA
out, I had put it on the order.
They said they have many different makes of the same model and they really don't check the comments.
I got a little mad and they probably noticed. But to my supprise, on their own, they said
send it back and we will give credit or exchange. I said, do you
have one with the correct output.
He checked and said they had one left. I asked if he could hold it and replace it.
This is the best part.
He said, actually I will send it out. When you get it just give UPS the box with the return in it.
That was it. It went smooth as silk. I got my new card in 2 or 3 days. That was great service.

"Ordered a retail CDRW drive earlier this year. Emailed to check availability and received reply very quickly. Shipping was pretty fast as well. Price on invoice was few dollars more than pricewatch. Emailed them and received reply next day that refund will be credited back to my account.
Overall good experience with their service. I'd shop with there again."
"I have made several purchases from Microtech over the past few months so I feel I have had enough experience to write a relatively comprehensive review of the company.
My purchases have been several barebones computers, HDD's, CD-Roms, CD-RW, Video cards, Keyboards and Mice. The products have been both OEM and Retail.
This company seems to get computer parts wholesale, as if they have purchased a clearance lot, or perhaps the inventory of a company that went out of business. Items are limited to what they have and once they are out of stock (on things other than barebones computers, and their parts, ie. ram, cpu, motherboard, etc...) then they may not get more of that same exact part by the same vendor.
For the most part the 5 barebones systems I purchased have been exactly what I asked for. The one exception was that they once neglected to include the package of cables/disks/mobo pamphlet that comes with the system, and one call later they shipped it to me, no questions asked. I actually once recieved 256mb ram on a system that was supposed to only have 128.
When it comes to spare parts, ie. CD, HDD's, Video Cards, etc... If you buy Retail, there should be no problem. Purchases I have made of retail componentry have been just that. Boxed, with all the appropriate merchandise. OEM parts can be a little more iffy. I once bought a couple of Microsoft intellimice, and recieved the intellimouse web version instead. I then checked their website and saw that they were out of the plain intellimouse and substituted the "web" version. It's a more "expensive" mouse, but not really what I wanted. Another problem I had was with a DOA OEM HDD. I ended up RMAing it right to the manufacturer, since that's what they "would have done" and ended up with a refurbished one. That wasn't really great, but since I had been busy at work and surpassed their 30 day in-house return policy, I can't blame them for that. Next, an OEM CD-Rom I bought from them was also DOA, and I'm waiting for the return on that one (just mailed the dead one to them 2 days ago). Lastly, the OEM video cards I bought are as the other person described, in that they have a burned CD of the recent drivers from nVidia. Why this is a problem, I have no idea... but it is the truth.
Packaging is OK.... lots of peanuts and componentry is usually wrapped in foam. I'd like to see more individual boxing within a box, just for safety.
Shipping is reasonable... an entire system (barebones computer with HDD, video cards, keyboards, mice, cd-rom, NO monitor) runs (me) about $18. Not too bad, I think.
Overall I have mixed feelings about Microtech. Their prices are OK... not great, but not expensive either. I have had a couple of problems, but they have always been very responsive and helpful. "
"I ordered an nVidia TNT2 card for my sister's comptuter, and when it arrived, it was defective. I called them up and their customer service took great care of the situation; They sent out a pre-tested replacement the same day with a return label for the defective one. Top Notch Service, Will do business with them again."
"I too ordered a VisionTek XTASY 6564 GeForce3 Ti200.
I placed the order Monday, looked at their web site on Tuesday and the order was still in process. Called. They claimed that they would get the order out "today or tommorow". Waited till Thursday, checked the website, order still in process. Called. They said "Oh well those are out of stock and we don't know when we'll get any more in." Order cancelled.
Pretty bad customer service. DO NOT ORDER FROM THEM.
"
"This place is horrible. Ordered a visiontek geforce3 ti200 video card oem, seems like a good deal $80. Received it a couple of days later and was very disappointed. One of the video memory heatsink broke off, probably due to bad packaging. But the worst thing is that the card looks used! The card had some black gooey stuff on it and the agp connector looks worn out. Also the driver/software stuff came on a burnt cd. Just for fun I tested it on my computer and I got some weird discolored pixels on my windows desktop. So this card seems defective as well. Shippped the junk back and I'm still waiting for my account to credited back. Don't buy oem stuff from these guys, they'll sell you used parts!"
"I got what I wanted. Prety good I would Say! Although they should consider lower the shipping!!!!!
CPU cost like $10 or so to be ship!!! OMG!!!"
"I ordered from this seller and "oops" my order vanished. I waited three weeks and was about to get angry with UPS, because I had recieved order confirmation. I decided to call. Turns out the lost my order. The couldn't even find it in the stock room. The customer service rep seaid she'd see about getting it express shipped...so all in all, by the time I get my order it will have been over a month. I do not reccomend this company."
"Ordered a video card, no problems. Delivered on time. Got what I ordered. Driver disk was corrupted. I emailed this problem and they mailed a replacement promptly. VERY GOOD COMPANY ON MY PART."
"Ordered a black keyboard and received a white one. I'm not even going to attempt the hassle of the return process. I will not buy from this merchant again."
"prompt email response, fast delivery, just what i ordered.
it doesn't get any better"
