"Purchased a 9800pro video card and received a card with memory specs of 300mhz. The 9800pro is supposed to have 350mhz memory because it runs at 340mhz. The card I received was clocked at 330mhz.
When I emailed ATi tech support they told me this was not the ram that should be on the card and it should be RMA'd. OCsystem said they would refund my money and charge me $10 for the free shipping that was given to me. After reading the other reviews here I think I got a 9800 non pro that was overclocked close to pro speeds. At this point I will be happy to just get a refund. UPDATE(Got my refund 5 days after they received the video card and I did get a full refund) I will stick with newegg from now on, they got me a 9800pro with the correct ram in 3 days."
"Very bad experience. Online shopping should be hassle free, not stressful!
I originally ordered a Radeon 9500 non-pro, hoping to mod it into a 9700.
They charged my credit card *instantly*, but emailed me to tell me my billing address was inaccurate. I confirmed it was good, but got no reply by email for 4 days. In fact the address VISA had was good, but they don't give it to anyone other that the owner of the card.
After this non-sense, I found this site and after seeing all the comments about rip-offs and such, I decided to cancel the order.
Took them 1 day to respond and 1 week to cancel the transaction on my credit card.
Conclusion:
Stressful experience, VERY bad customer service.
From now on, I will read reviews of merchants before doing business with them. Yes the price was very low, but why do business with shameless overclockers and thieves?"
"i placed a order with them for 1 gig of ddr 3200 ram cas 2.5 matched ram for $166 "yea i know i didnt need to get matched but i wanted the heatsinks". even after reading the bad stuff here. i got what i ordered and it works fine. only thing i didnt like is slow shiping. will i order from them again? yep as long as im in no rush to get what i ordered"
"absolutely fantastic delivery and shipping. Product was as described. Excellent, would buy from again!"
"They have no idea what is or is not in stock. It took them almost a week to find out they didn't have the product for christ sakes."
"I ordered a ThermalTake Smart Fan II, a 60 to 80 mm fan adaptor and a tube of Artic Alumina from them on August 7. The order shipped 3 business days later; slower than some, but within the time they said it would take to process the order.
I admit being a bit nervous about ordering from them after reading the comments, but they were the only place that had all the things I needed and didn't rip me on shipping.
I recieved a tracking number by email as soon as the item was shipped. When it got here, I found the items packed with peanuts in a cardboard box. Overall, I had a good experience with this seller. "
"I was very worried when I saw the reviews on here, but I decided to take a chance anyway because I really wanted to get a custom colored Microsoft Intellimouse Explorer 3.0. Well, anyway, I ordered the mouse above, a Mitsuko keyboard and mouse (in green, don't need the mouse since I got the Intellimouse above), and a green floppy drive. Everything works perfectly. I believe if you want to order from them, that you don't get RAM or a video card, because that's where the most problems have been reported. But for me, they receive my recommendation. BTW: I used the will call option and they called me back after 2 days of ordering and I went to their place and picked it up...what a great option...saves a lot on shipping."
"I ordered 2 sticks of 256MB, PC3200, CL2 memory. After receiving them, I installed into my computer and it would not boot at 200Mhz FSB. I RMA them. The second time, my computer could only boot up at 200Mhz, CL2.5. I have to RMA them again.Finaly after over 1.5 month, I got what I ordered.
I will never order from this place again. "
"STAY AWAY! They lie cheat and steal as far as I'm concerned. Ordered a Video card on a Monday after calling and confirming stock with next day shipping. Called Tuesday to confirm shipping and the manager stated it would ship today or tomorrow latest. Called Wednesday to confirm shipping and they stated they could not ship because they had none in stock and that it "should" ship tomorrow. I cancelled my order but they charged my account anyway. They stated that the account would be credited by Friday (even though they should have never charged me for a product they never shipped or even had to begin with). Come the following Monday the credit has yet to return to my account and they said "Sorry our accounting department forgot". When I asked to speak to someone in accounting or a manager they hung up on me. DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY! I have been in this field for over 13 years and never have I seen such incompetence in a business. Wish I knew of this site prior to ever dealing with Ocsystem. "
"STAY AWAY FROM THIS COMPANY. First off, I had a problem with my computer. My computer is a Dell Dimension 8100 so it was fairly new when I ordered the part. I ordered a power supply because my older one had died. Anyway, I called OC System and said I would like to order a power supply could you help me? The Salesperson or tech. support or w/e agreed to help me. I gave him my computer model and my RAM and so on to avoid confusion. The man suggested a power supply, I quickly purchased the power supply. The shipping and order processing was a day late but I wasnt too mad about that. When I put in the power supply, I realized that it was NOT compatible w/ my motherboard. I had to call the company back, They hardly ever pick up the phone for customer service, they responded to me by saying, you should've checked the specs and so on. I had to say "excuse me, YOUR salesman recommended this piece of hardware to me and its not compatible." They said, "We'll take it back, but I need to charge you a restocking fee." So the point is that, they charged me a 15% restocking fee on a part that they suggested after knowing my computers' specs. Stay w/ newegg or googlegear. "
"Well I have ordered from OCSystem before, and they were ok. Kind of slow, but ok for the price they charged. This time everything was a bit different. I ordered a PC3200 CL 2.5 512MB stick of their own in-house ram (OCSystem) for $56 and free shipping. The order was placed on May 10th 2003, shipped on the 13th, and delivered successfully by UPS Ground on the 19th.
I installed it, and in 1-2 days noticed strange things. My virtual machines became way less stable, I could never finish compiling anything, not a single line of C code with gcc. After researching for some time, i figured that the error messages were pointing to hardware failure. General method - strip down everything but CPU/RAM /HDD/Video and run it. Same thing. Hence, here comes the test of the remaining components. Memtest86 (www.memtest86.com) showed that one of the ranges in the RAM was failing. Of course, I could not remove the heat spreader from the RAM and see what type of chips was on there, since this would void the warranty (sticker is glued that way). The green PCB was the same as used on Winbond OEM RAM (not a great kind). RMA'd. June 19th finally received the replacement... PC 3200 DDR, 512MB, CL2!. SPD showed that it's rated at 2100 (the previous one was 2700), but it's possible since JEDEC does not have PC3200 officially certifed yet. Of course, manufacturer string was FFFFFFFF (unknown). But this time to my surprise RAM was working fine, and would post at 195 Mhz, though motherboard would not handle it (Abit KX7-333R).
To buy or not to buy? Probably not again, too much hassle, my time is more expensive."
"I ordered a new Radeon 9800 Pro with a simple heat sink and was shipped a damaged 9800. OC System said they would exchange the item. I shipped it back to them and they returned it saying that it was damaged. They said they will keep my money and there is nothing I can do about it. Please do not buy from this company. They are out to only STEAL your money."
"Ordered a Silver Enermax case on June 12th. My credit card was charged and then I was informed they did not have silver case in stock. I called and asked for a refund which they initiated at the end of the day. It was a little hard to communicate with them but overall the outcome was as to be expected. It would be nice if they didn't sell things they didn't have in stock but they did give a quick refund."
"I ordered a BBA 9700 Pro. What I recieved was a moddified 9500. It has the 3.3ns Inferion Ram on it which shows that it is a 9500. I'm in the process of getting a law suit against these people as this is total fraud. I can understand a wrong shipment but a moddified card is deliberate and against the Law. I'll post some updates and maybe try to get people to join the suit to help everyone out and get these guys of the street."
"I bought a Radeon 9700 Pro from ocsystem. But I received a Radeon 9700 overclocked to pro level and voltmodded to keep stable. I am not satisfied at all and think they have mislead me very much by selling it as a 9700 Pro. I can send it to RMA, but I do not think it is acceptable at all. How many people do not notice that they have been ripped off???
Unfortunatly I did not know about this site before purchase, I do now understand that I am not the first to try this scam."
