"I just ordered a radeon 9500 pro overclocked from these @ssholes. I ordered and payed for 3 day select shipping and they just sent out the product with ground shipping! AND it clearely states on the invoice 3 day select! But on the UPS site, it says ground shipping.
***UPDATE***
I emailed OC System and they very promptly responded apoligizing (with the same horrible English that can be seen on their website)they told me that they would credit me for shipping.
***ANOTHER UPDATE***
It's been a week and the video card has not shipped. I got an email from UPS saying that the card had shipped. I log onto the UPS website and the only activity listed is "Billing Information Recieved" so basically, OC Systems took care of the billing but forgot to ship the product!!!! THIS IS UNACCEPTABLE!! Never have i had such a problem with a company before. These guys are retarted.
***ANOTHER UPDATE***
The product was never shipped to me according to UPS. So I sent an email to OC System telling them that I would like to cancel my order due to the fact that I did not recieve it in the expected time frame. They have not responded to my email but thats ok because I will be canceling payment with the credit card company. If you want a Radeon 9500 pro just go to www.circuitcity.com they have a great price and if you are computer savvy you can overclock it yourself.
**FINAL UPDATE**
I got my credit card bill today. OC SYSTEM CHARGED ME FOR THE VIDEO CARD AND THEY NEVER SHIPPED IT TO ME!!!! THE BBB AND THE CREDIT CARD COMPANY WILL HEAR ABOUT THIS!
PLEASE FOR YOUR OWN SAKE NEVER EVER DO ANY BUISNESS WITH OC SYSTEM. THEY ARE A HORRIBLE COMPANY. NOTHING BUT PROBLEMS. DONT GET SCREWED BY THEM."
"I see a lot of bad reviews on these guys and it kind of scared me. (didn't see this until after I ordered) But overall I'd say this was a pretty good experience. My 9700 Pro OEM works fine (Bought a heatpipe seperate and installed myself).
My only complaint is that it was 5 business days until it shipped when they said 2-3, and then I had to deal with the super slow UPS ground."
"Ok lets talk a moment.
We arnt the largest buyer out there, but we do a fair amount of business on a monthly basis. This month we ordered some stuff from OCSYSTEMS. My first time dealing with OCSYSTEMS has been a great eventful one if anything. My order was mailed the next day, it arrived in perfect condition. Now we threw it together and BAM worked like a charm. One thing people must note about buying from a company like this is that its a specialized company and the products they sell are for people who have experience with basically tearing a limb off a machine and putting it back together with glue (lol just a bad joke).
Anyways enough of my rambling. Their Customer Service Manager Jessica is a sweet heart lol. She helped me all the way, and when I wanted an order change it was basically instant. I commend her for her efforts and shes is a great asset to the company. I called back to tell her all was well and she thought I called to bounce at her, but that wasnt the case.
You did a good job with us OC Systems, and we wish to do future business."
"I'm just so frustrated. I've never felt more ripped off in my life... I want to warn everyone about ocsystem, They have ripped me off big time so far.. I don't want anyone to fall into the same trap..
To make a long LONG story short. They sold me an overclocked radeon 9700pro on 2/6/2003, I didn't even receieve the item until 2/14/2003, I told them I was unsatisfied and they offered a refund. (this is where it goes downhill)
I sent my card back the very next business day and they recieved it on the 21st of Feb 03.. no communication whatsoever so i emailed them on the 25th, they told me they were sorry and they would process the credit THAT DAY.. its now march 5th going on 6th and I have still yet to see a credit in my account.. nor have they emailed me about anything..
I don't think i'm being unreasonable.
update: They don't even return my bank's phone calls.. also..Given the entire story, my bank tells me they consider this THEFT..
i had to cancel my VISA, thank you so much ocsystem. How hard is it to go to your merchant terminal and give someone a credit they deserve?
STAY AWAY FROM OCSYSTEM"
"Well, it finally happened to me. If you are like some and like to skip to the end I can tell you it will be DO NOT, REPEAT *NOT* buy ANYTHING from OCSYSTEM.COM. I don't care how tempting it may seem, go somewhere, *anywhere* else unless you want to roll the dice with your cash and end up in my shoes:
March of '02 I was building a system and was buying parts from a variety of places. I bought a Gigabyte GA-7VRXP from a place called OCSYSTEM.COM based on their price and relatively well-known name for a small company. The board was fine for almost a year, and yesterday, it literally went up in smoke... I noticed the system wouldn't come out of sleep mode but was still running. I shut down and cracked the case since I smelled something... Didn't smell too bad so I restarted. Well... POOF came the smoke from between some of my cards and I quickly shutdown. To make a long story short, the Gigabyte board shorted out or did God knows what but bottom line I could see the burn mark and a couple of melted solders.
So, I whipped out my trusty invoice from OCSYSTEM.COM and called them up, having already read their warranty policy on their web site. I started at noon and called at various times during the day, on MY dime to no avail. Finally at 4:50pm I got a person and told them my story and wanted to get an RMA since the board has a one-year warranty and it was inside that time. Here's the converstation, duplicated as it happened:
Me: "Hi I have a defective motherboard I need to return."
Them: "Ok, your invoice #?"
Me: "XXXX."
Them: "Oh, that's an old one..For which item?"
Me: "Uhhmmm. The motherboard...."
Them: "Ok and what exactly is the problem?"
Me: "Well, it fried on me. Actually spit smoke out in a big puff."
Them: "Oh I see. Well, can you see any damage to the board."
Me: "Well, there is a transformer that looks a bit black and a chip that has some melted solders, but otherwise no."
Them: "Ohhh...I'm sorry sir but we don't honor that as part of our warranty if there is physical damage."
Me: "What do you mean 'physical damage'? This board has not been modified, and your warranty states boards are covered UNLESS they are modified."
Them: "I know what you are saying but we cannot take it back if there is physical damage. Once it is sold it is the customer's responsibility to handle it from there."
Me: "Excuse me, I think you are confused. This could not more clearly be a manufacturer defective board. And by handling it do you mean USING it because what else would I do with it???!!"
Them: "That may be, but if we take it back and return it to the manufacturer they will not give us credit because of the physical damage."
Me: "But the board nearly started on FIRE. Maybe you are not understanding me: This board has not been modified! It was bought new, from you, under the terms of your one year warranty, which says NOTHING about physical damage anyway, and used in a normal system for normal use conditions."
Them: "Sir I'm sorry but that just doesn't matter. I could return it if you could not see that it is damaged, if it just isn't working..."
Me: "What?? Is this a joke? This board is defective and you are telling me that because it burned up and melted a solder that you won't honor your warranty which doesn't say ANYTHING about this at ALL? Not one single word???!!"
Them: "It's on our website sir, under Limited Warranty."
Me: "No, it isn't either, it is not on your website at all, in any way shape or form, I just came from there. You neeed to honor your warranty and exchange this board for me. That is what your warranty states and that is the right thing to do for a paying customer with defective product from you, and most importantly who TRUSTS you'll stand behind it!"
Them: "No, I can't do that but I can get you the number for Gigabyte and you can call them and they'll take care of it for you."
(The next 10 minutes is me arguing with this sarcastic woman about honoring their warranty to no avail)
Me: "Fine, give me the number for Gigabyte then, but this is not at all right."
Them: "Ok sir, let me find it...(On hold for 5 minutes)"I'm sorry I can't find that number. I'll find it and call you back with it."
Me: "Whatever."
I got no call back, and this woman, named Jessica by the way, was supposedly a supervisor so asking for one didn't help. And those of you who know better know what I mean when I say you just TRY getting ahold of Gigabyte -- Good luck -- this is a company that keeps it's phone numbers as secret as it possibly can and NEVER and I mean I have NEVER had them answer a single email in the year I owned the board. What's amazing is them being around since '86.
CAVEAT EMPTOR, people. Please feel free to email me if you have suggestions on how I can force this company to honor their warranty! Just a reminder: DO NOT BUY ANYTHING FROM OCSYSTEM.COM. You have been warned!
Regards,
Brian"
"I purchased a 512mb stick of ocsystem pc3200 which worked fine.
I also ordered 2 ocsystem 256mb pc3200 sticks that are giving me all kinds of problems. They are supposed to run at 400MHz and I can even get them to run stable at 333MHz.
I e-mailed ocsystem like 2 weeks ago to get a refund and they flat out ignored my emails. I resent my mail 2 times and they still haven't responded. I will be contacting authorities if something is not done very soon."
"Any of you reading this review to decide on ordering from these idiots or not. DO NOT!!! Unless you like being lied to, stolen from, and swindled at every turn. I am an experienced pc enthusiest, and also a long time internet shopper. There really should be some kind of government department for keeping web retailers honest, but unfortunatelly we can only learn from others (or our own) mistakes. PLEASE learn from mine.
OCSYSTEM states in there web site in BOLD letters that"every memory module is pretested before ship out" that is a complete lie. the first pc2700 cas 2 turned out to be COMPLETELY DEAD. so I called them and explained. they told me to ship it back(at my own expence,of course) and they would send another piece. great. SO, two weeks later i get the secong memory stick. Surely concidering there mistake the first time, they would test thir one right? RIGHT? I put it in my machine and it boots up! GOOD. until i start playing with the memory timing. turns out they sent me a lovelly pc 2100 cas 2 stick. not exactally what i paid for. So i call back again.(long distance to california at your own expence of course) They connected me to a tech support individual. After a few minutes with him he admitted that a LOT of the chips they send out are doa, and many more dont work up to spec. "oh, what happend to pre testing?" i asked. silence. "do you want your rma number sir?"
So I asked for a return rma. All I wanted at that point was to be done with them. Was my nightmare over? Not yet. I made sure we were on the same page and that I would be recieving a FULL refund.6!!!!!! phone calls and 3 weeks later i got my refund. Minus ten dollars. i guess thats just there F*ck you charge. So I told you what not to do, what you should do is order from "newegg" or "googlegear""
" I ordered 512MB PC3200 from from OC System on Feb 16th after sent them two email, and several days after my ordered date, they response back with backorder, so I replied and asked for my order to be canceled. They canceled my ordered with happiness, and would credit my account immediately.
I found out today(3/2/03) They have charged my account the same day I ordered the parts(2/16/07). Two weeks later, they have still not credited my card back for the product that never been sent. I can't believe how this kind of company still be in the business.
I'm not sure complaint here would have any effect on them. I hope some one out there would push it a little further with them."
"Great prices, easy to deal with, good guys all around. Shipping is a little slow, but it states right on their website that a 2 or 3 day wait is normal. They shipped my stuff on the day 3 and I recieved it promptly. OCS is in my "favorites" and I will do business with them again, aswell as refer friends to them. Patience is a virtue, they state their policies upfront. I think some of the people posting here should read them before ordering. Buy with confidence and relax. "
"I ordered an ATI Radeon 9700 from OC System on Jan 17th. Two days later they emailed me telling me it was on backorder, so I replied and asked for my order to be canceled. They canceled it no problem.
A month later, they have still not credited my card back for the $230 I spent for a card that I never got. I've only been able to get a hold of them ONCE over the phone, and that was after several hours of listening to "No one is available" or busy signals. The one time I did reach them, they said I would be credited in a weeks time...3 weeks later, the charge is still there. I tried emailing them, but they apparently have decided not to respond to them.
So...I called my credit card company, and am letting them deal with OC System. As long as I get my $230 back, I'm happy. And I'll never order anything from this company again."
"I orderd a radeon 9700 pro a round ide cable and 512 mb pc2700 ram from this company on the 14th of february and by the 20th after 4 unanswerd emails i called and was informed that the memory was backordered. I then canceled hte order and now recieved a confirmation as to the cancelation and again 4 business days(6 real days) later i have yet to recieve my refund I am outraged at how poorly this company operates and treats its customers I didn't order from them for the low prices i ordered for the products. I will never purchase from them again. I recomend that you do not as well. "
"Ordered memory on 2/18/03 and paid extra for over night shipping. On 2/20/03 contacted them and stated that I had not recieved my merchandise, or heard from them. Recieved and email stating that it would go out that day. 2/24/03 I called and was told it would go out that day. At this point I cancelled the order."
"I ordered from OC System because of their low price. They took a full 3 days to ship. The shipment was by UPS, but without any prior notification they shipped requiring a signature. That delayed receipt by 2 days until I could ambush the UPS driver at 2 PM before he could leave a "not home" notice.
All 4 items were as ordered. The "400 mhz CAS2 DDR" memory actually runs at 400 mhz CAS2, although it is obvious that it is overclocked."
"I ordered many cooling accessories and they all arrived quickly (given the mandatory 7 day waiting period imposed by UPS from th peoples republic of California) and every was in order as I expected. Nothing was broken and everything was the correct color and everything.
Thanks to OC System again.
"
"I purchased the following items from OC System:
- Epox 8RDA+ motherboard
- Athlon XP 2700+ CPU
- Thermaltake Volcano 9 CPU cooler
- Copper CPU Shim
- 512 MB Expeditious Gamer PC2700 333Mhz DDR SDRAM
(w/ Purple Aluminum Heat Spreader)
- ATI Radeon 9700 Pro (with optional DVI connector)
- OCSystem ATI 9700 Video Card Cooling Kit
Here are the problems that I have encountered so far:
- Items were missing from the original shipment. OC System forgot to pack the ATI Radeon 9700 Pro, the DVI Adaptor, and the Video Card Cooling Kit.
An email sent about this problem was never responded to. I had to spend 45 minutes of my time on the phone to get this problem resolved.
- The Purple Heat Spreader that I ordered is not purple, it's copper. OC System tried to console me by saying that the copper heat spreader is worth more money. That is not the point. I ordered the purple aluminum heat spreader for a specific purpose. I did not receive the purple aluminum heat spreader.
OC System said that if I sent the RAM back to them, they would return it to me with the proper heat spreader. This would mean spending AT LEAST another week without the computer AND I would have to cover the cost of shipping the incorrect item back to OC System. That's not really an option.
- When the missing items finally arrived, it was a week after the order was originally shipped out. The money that I spent on 3-Day Select shipping was completely wasted.
- The OC System Expeditious Gamer 512MB PC2700 333Mhz RAM that was shipped is actually detected as PC2100 266Mhz high latency RAM and will not operate at the advertised frequency and timings. This is the case in both the Epox 8RDA+ that was purchased with the RAM and in a friend's Asus A7N8X motherboard. Corsair 256MB PC2700 333Mhz RAM is properly detected in both of the motherboards mentioned above.
- The Radeon 9700 Pro that OC System sold to me is not the "ATI Radeon 9700 Pro" that they advertise, it is a 3rd party 9700 Pro that uses inferior slower 3.3ns Infineon RAM (as opposed to the Samsung 2.86ns RAM that comes on the real ATI product). I became aware of this after noticing that the card was not performing at quite the expected level.
The card itself is completely void of any Manufacturer labels. There is nothing on the OC System website or in the order invoice that says this card is not an actual ATI product. If I had known ahead of time that this wasn't an actual ATI video card, I would have never purchased it.
- The Video Card Cooling Kit that OC System shipped with the Radeon 9700 Pro is not 100% compatible with the video card. The smallest of the 3 heatsink components is intended to be mounted via two mounting holes that go through the video card. The Video Card that OC System sold to me has no such holes, thus that particular heatsink component can not be mounted to the board.
- Email support, which OC System claims receives higher priority than phone support, is completely nonexistant.
- OC System *can* be reached via phone, but you have to battle busy signals and hang-ups. All told, I probably spent two hours of my time on the phone trying to reach them and maybe 5 minutes actually talking to them.
This has been, by far, the worst online shopping experience that I have ever had. I am thoroughly disgusted and angry for allowing myself to be victimized by OC System like this. I feel as though I have been the victim of a theft."
