"People complaining that they can't cancel an order after it's been placed are not thinking. My order was placed, and of course if couldn't be cancelled. They shipped it right away, and I got it in a few days. Everything was great! Pricing was great and I was ver happy with my experiance. "

"It kind of seems like maybe Amazon employees come here and leave reviews. I've never had such issues with overstock. Also I know, and am sure you know a ton of people who shop at overstock and never had such problems. I just purchased something from overstock, and after reading these reviews was tempted to go take a look at my order status. It had shipped, and fast. I'm waiting on it now, but not for overstock, for UPS. "

"I've ordered from Overstock many times. They have a great selection with great prices. The problem with this store is its' return and order cancellation policy. Most of the products have a restocking fee (whether or not it's been opened) and many items are non-refundable. In addition, I've placed orders in which I changed my mind just a few hours later - but the order (although not yet shipped) can no longer be cancelled. I would not order anything expensive from them again - it is an online store afterall and if I can not see & touch the goods in the first place, it's just not worth the risk when their return policy is horrible. Try Amazon or Wayfair instead, they have a great return policy."

"Well I would never order from them again probably.
But im not going to lie either.
There service has been great. I quickly ordered a camera without thinking from overstock.com without review other sites & prizes. For some reason I just thought this place would be the cheapest. Well amazon had it for 40 dollars cheaper. So I called & tried to cancel the order. The lady told me kindly it was way to late to cancel but she will gladly credit my credit card back 40 dollars to match amazons price. So that made me pretty happy. But i kept reading all these horrible reviews everywhere which drove me nuts & worried so much. So I just kept harrassing them asking them if they shipped my product. I ordered my camera on 1/1/2013 at like 2am. I recieved my camera on 1/3/2013 lool
So idk if harrassing them had anything to do with it? or they just had a good supply of them. but coming in 2 days rather then 10? hell yea. but still will never deal with them again lol.

"I bought a set of microfleece sheets for a gift at Christmas. I shopped long and hard to find the right color for my friend who is very particular. The item I ordered was listed as in stock, but what I discovered is that Overstock shipped a completely different brand and different color! After spending 30 minutes on chat I was informed that they couldn't find the order. Talk about adding insult to injury. My last purchase to a company that will ship anything to make a sale."

"STAY FAR AWAY FROM THIS SITE. I put in an order during Black Friday this year and thought all was well. Then I saw other sales on the same item but didn't purchase them because of my order Overstock. Hadn't heard one thing about my order and so I contacted them 2 weeks later about it. (2 WEEKS without a confirmation or update on the order). The person on the other end could not give me a straight answer as to what the status was and even attempted to lie to me about it "shipping soon" and it being "delivered before christmas". They couldn't even tell me if they even had it in stock at their warehouse. Then 3 days later, I receive an email stating "the trailer carrying your [PRODUCT ORDERED] was stolen" blah blah.

Anyway, I'm out an imnportant Christmas present for somebody, missed the other Black Friday sales on the same item, and now have to fight the last minute shoppers rush because of this.

"The rugs purchased were not only a fabulous price but fit every bit of the description. The only negative is the extreme thickness of the rug should have been marketed. So thick & plush the rugs had trouble clearing my door!"

"TERRIBLE!! Stay away! I ordered a holiday gift, received an order confirmation, and over a week later I called to find out why my order was still in processing on their site. "oh, this is an item shipped from another retailer" (wish the site would have warned me when i ordered) "we don't really know when it's going to arrive". Seriously?!?!?

Never had this problem with {other more popular sites}, I know exactly what to expect and they communicate far better.

Will never order from overstock again!

"HORRIBLE site!!! I placed a Christmas order two weeks ago and received an email that the order shipped a week ago. I called UPS and they never received the item to ship. I call Overstock.com and they told me that they were out of stock even though they charged me for the item and sent me a notice that it had shipped. WILL NEVER USE THEIR SITE AGAIN. TOTAL RIP OFF!!!"

"VERY VERY HORRIBLE SERVICE. DON'T EVER PURCHASE ANYTHING IN OVERSTOCK (ALEXANDRIA LOCATION). THE GENERAL MANAGER AND MANAGER ARE NOT PROFESSIONALS TO DEAL ANY KIND OF TRANSACTION. WE ORDERED A BEDROOM SET AND PAID ALL THE MONEY SO THAT WE CAN GET IT SOON. THEY INITIALLY PROMISED TO GIVE IN 2 WEEKS. NOW IT IS 4 MONTHS AND WE STILL DIDNOT RECEIVE THE BED SET. FIRST DELIVERY WAS AFTER 6 WEEKS WITH WRONG HEADBOARD. THEN AFTER 12 WEEKS OUR NEXT DELIVERY HAD CORRECT HEADBOARD BUT WRONG FOOT BOARD AND NO SLATS. NOW WE HAVE BED WITHOUT SLATS AND SLEEPING OUTSIDE AS BED OCCUPIES BEDROOM. ITS 4 MONTHS WE DIDN'T RECEIVE WHOLE SET. THEY WILL NOT GIVE ANY UPDATE OR CALLS UNLESS WE CALLED THEM TO INQUIRE ABOUT THE STATUS. THIS IS 24TH CALL TO OVERSTOCK IN VIRGINIA SPEAKING TO MANAGER AND GENERAL MANAGER. VERY BAD CUSTOMER SERVICE. DON'T EVER ORDER ANYTHING IN OVER STOCK LOCATED IN ALEXANDRIA THOUGH ITS CHEAPER THAN OTHER STORES. IN ORDER TO SAVE 100$ WE WENT THIS WHOLE TRAUMA. "I recently submitted this less than positive review to overstock.com but unfortunately overstock.com does not seem to allow non-positive reviews to be posted on their web site. So I will add the review here, where it will get more exposure than it would've gotten on overstock.com's single item review page. overstock is continuing to get shadier and shadier as time goes by. This time, instead of sending what looked like a full retail package at the full retail price (shipped free) they decided that they would simply cross off the 4 SHEETS from the packaging and send me 2 SHEETS at the same high retail price. The product in question is "Lisa Pavelka Waterslide Transfers, Blank Inkjet Stock"

There are only TWO SHEETS in the packages that Overstock is selling in the same packaging that contain FOUR SHEETS in retail stores and other online retailers. Overstock does not tell you that there is 50% less product at basically the same price. This is very misleading and a very poor business practice that Overstock should immediately stop. Overstock needs to inform their customers that while the packaging is the same, there 50% LESS in these mispackaged items, (that they are representing as normal retail).

It's too bad that this is happening because the product is a good product. I would recommend them to others but I will never again recommend Overstock to any one, nor will I shop there, EVER. I hate being screwed over by greedy businesses, there is no excuse for this type of misleading of the consumers and in today's economy it makes this violation of consumer trust even worse. Shame on Overstock.

"I ordered Keurig B130 Commercial DeskPro Gourmet Single-Cup Brewing System on Black Friday. On Tuesday, I contacted and they said it would ship out Wednesday. Got tracking info on Wednesday, but the item never shipped. Contacted on Thursday and was told it I would have an answer within 1-2 days. On Sunday I got an email that they were refunding me. Currently waiting on refund. I missed out on all the other Black Friday deals for similar items because of this. Now I have to pay retail if I want to get before the Holiday.

The problems:

1. Customer service staff does not have access to information as to what is really going on with an order. All they can do is stall. They need to be in the loop.

2. Overstock is mainly a dropshipping company. That means they sell other company's inventory and then the other company, the Overstock Partner, ships it to the customer. The selection process for these Partners needs to be improved upon. Some of them are not reliable enough.

3. The inherent problem with being a dropshipping company is that you have to keep the 2 parties (the buyer and the supplier) separated or else they would find it a lot cheaper to cut out the middleman. One of the ways in which Overstock does this is that they pretend like they are not really dropshiping. And I just feel like it is not a very honest way of doing things.
