"This was my second time ordering from overstock.com. The first time was a good experience, though their shipping was very slow - 7 days. I guess I'm used to stores like newegg that value their customers' time. This second order was awful. I pre-ordered a book on their site (that was to be realeased on 9/22). When 9/22 came around they still listed it as a pre-sale item (and when I just checked it was still listed as such). They didn't setup shipment of my item until yesterday (afternoon of 9/27), and have not yet gotten the item to USPS for delivery (evening of 9/28). I would like to note that on 9/27, I received an email from overstock.com saying my order was shipped - at this point USPS did not even have a record of my item. The point is that even if it was shipped on the 27th, it would still have been 5 days after a good store such as Amazon would have had it out for delivery. I will NEVER do business with overstock.com again. Slow shipping, mediocre prices, and poor customer communication are not things that I want to deal with."
"I ordered a book I needed for a class on 9/2. I never received it. I started with an email on 9/12 asking where my book was, and got a form letter telling me to contact them if it hadn't arrived by the 30th (!) and that they could not track shipments because of a software error of some sort. I called customer service about a week later, because waiting until the 30th was just ridiculous. The rep told me she couldn't do anything until the 22nd, and repeated the software error excuse for tracking. I then called on the 23rd, and the rep told me my book had shipped out on the 5th, which I can't possibly believe. I asked the rep the first time I called if she could verify it had even left the warehouse, and she told me no. The second time they tell me it left on the 5th. Someone has to be lying. No book has ever made it to my door, and I won't ever do business with this company. First attempt at buying here and they blew it.
Update: requested refund on the 23rd, and it never came through. I notified my cc company so they can deal with it. I'm sick of this."

Overstock.com is a joke and, until further notice, a fraud.
I ordered from them:
1. They immediately (of course) charged my credit card
2. They failed to ship anything
3. They claim that they're upgrading their system over the next few days and that they cannot track some orders. They've had this lame excuse up for weeks now.
4. I sent them an email about this over 2 weeks after the purchase (they say contact them after 14 biz days) and they haven't bothered to respond.
5. I finally called their ***-***-**** number and they blithely admitted that they had charged the card 3 weeks ago but never shipped anything, cannot find the shipment, do not have the product in stock and cannot do anything about even the charged card for 2-4 business days which is almost a week from the phone call!
6. I finally talked to a supervisor who is, basically, at a loss to do anything or find out any additional information or even follow up on anything. She said they are located in SLC, Utah and their president is Patrick O'Neal.
They have a corporate number but, amazingly, not a tollfree number ***-***-****. She did not know who her boss's boss was or what the chain of command of customer service was. She was, frankly, useless and snippy.
7. Is Overstock a fraud? Is this just a slick scam?
This is unbelievable. They can't even give me a credit on the card but have, instead, decided to take an interest-free loan from me.
This is outrageous. "
"Absolutely abyssmal customer service. Sent me the wrong item. Had to phone (average on hold time 25 minutes) and email 5 times before correct return label was sent to me. That took 4 weeks. After they have received the return, they tell me to wait another 3 weeks for correct item to be sent. I tell them to cancel the order but was told IT CANNOT BE CANCELLED???!!! Absolutely ridiculous and incompetence customer service. I will dispute with credit card company and never do business with them again. They are CHEAP in every sense of the word."
"Contrary to many other reviewers, my first order experience with Overstock.com proceeded smoothly and I am quite satisfied with the price and delivery.
As a new customer I received an additional 12% discount on the already bargain priced, high quality Wusthof Grand Prix knives, and $2.95 shipping. Hard to beat that kind of deal. "

E-mailed several times, they still haven't fixed it.
Used the IM customer service, to no avail. I was told by a customer service supervisor (Jason Beason) today that "My supervisor does not speak with customers".

"I ordered a clock from overstock and when the order arrived it was something that was in no way related to my order! I called up customer service and 3 days later received a return label and the faulty item was promptly returned. I then called them up and asked for the right product to be shipped, they said it could be done only two weeks after the return was received!
Even a month after the return was received by Overstock, I did not get a replacement, so I finally asked for a refund. It has now been FOUR whole months since my order was placed. I call them at an average of twice a week only to be told my money will be refunded in 24-48 hours. I have even written a registered letter to the CEO in frustration, but that has not been any better.
This company is a bunch of crooks and I can never ever advice anyone to buy from here. The same items can be found at other sites for the same price or lesser. "
"I will never purchase anything form this retailer again. I ordered a DVD on August 29th and today (sept 6th) i checked for tracking information and found that it still said processing and i noticed that it changed my shipping address to the billing address. I called the support line and waited for 15 minutes then hung up. Then called a line for people interested in signing up for some gold club of theirs and the phone was answered in 30 seconds (NO CUSTOMER FOLLOWTRHOUGH, however they want more customers). They claimed that since it is a media item it can take up to 3 weeks to ship and they are having problems in their warehouse. I then asked about why they changed my shipping address and then they claimed that it was because i paid through paypal. I have never had this happen to me and have used paypal numberous times before.
This experience was awful and will never recommend this to anyone; the fact that im taking up my time to write this letter of avoidal says a lot."
"Extremely poor customer service and fraudulent actions. Purchased an item on-line on 8/11. My credit card was charged the same day. Three weeks later, after numerous assurances that the item has been shipped (but tracking info was not available) they cancelled my order without my knowledge. When I called to ask why, they explained that the item was out of stock. The fraud is charging my card before shipping, and charging for an item they did not have. I have filed a complaint with the Federal Trade Comission (FTC) and my state's Attorney General. I urge others who have had similiar experiences to do the same. The FTC has an on-line form you can use."
"My worst experience ever on any online purchase.
Order has been placed for a week on two "In Stock" items, and still no shippment. No explanation on the delay and no option to cancel. I am stuck and the item will actually arrive useless if they ever arrives. Cusomter service even said that I have to pay the return postage if I want to return them. Remember it is their fault that the items ship late."

"I have ordered several DVD sets from them in the past and I have been happy with their prices and shipping and ease of use on the website, but this last order was shipped via USPS which I didn't get to choose since apparently thier shipping system auto selects the carrier, probably based on price. the package was lost after the USPS supposedly tried to deliver. I never recieved the notice they claimed to have left and my wife was home all day on the suppsed delivery date. Now is when I get frustrated, I contact overstock.com for a replacement and I am told one will be shipped. a week later I contact them about a tracking number for the new shippment. They tell me they have to do a trace on the package 1st and would they like them to start the trace. Great a week wasted there.the trace takes 10 buisness days and now over a month later no product, no completed trace and no answers. the only thing they did do efficently was bill my credit card"

"I've ordered from overstock 3 or 4 times in the past three years and never had a problem. Decent prices. It always arrived in a reasonable time and was exactly what I expected.
I've never ordered electronics from them... just home furnishing stuff, DVDs, etc. I was surprised when I read all the negative reviews, because I've never had any problems and will continue to order from them.

"Unfortunately I read the reviews on this site too late and learned about the horrible delivery reputation of this company. I tried to cancel an order that I made just minutes earlier (I am willing to pay more for better service). The Customer Service Rep refused to the cancel the order and cited the policy on the website. She acknowledged their horrible delivery policy/performance and said basically that's the way it is. Obviously this organization has no interest in return business, good customer relations, or a good reputation. Even though I just ordered from them, I already know that I will not be ordering from them again thanks to Halle, the customer service rep extraordinaire.
Here's the update. I checked their website and it says that the order is In Process. It should have shipped yesterday. I called Customer Service (Vicky this time) and they said that it probably shipped, but they cannot give me any tracking information. When I complained, they transferred me to a manager (Matt the wonder boy--I wonder if he knows how to handle customers). Even though their policy allows me to cancel the order if it has not shipped within the three days, they will not cancel the order because they said it must have shipped even though they cannot confirm that. Apparently some button is supposed to show up and allow the cancellation process. They had already admitted that their systems were not working properly and that they do not know what has shipped and hasn't shipped. So how is the button going to show up if their systems do not know what has shipped? To top things off, they charged my card last Friday. They sure know how to get their money quickly!
Since they left me no recourse, I had to call the credit card company and dispute the charge through them. I wish there were a lower rating I could give them."
