"Spent over $500 on their website and the next day I get an email stating that the address I listed did not match my banks records. I'm pretty sure I know where I live. Also she needed my tattoo shops website to verify I'm a professional before she could ship it. I don't have a problem with that but how about advising customers to do so at point of sale.
They actually debited $500 from my account, why would they do that if the address was allegedly incorrect. At this point I can't get a response and they don't answer the phone, when they do you're on hold for 25 minutes. Still haven't received my refund. As a tattoo professional this was the most unprofessional experience I've had. I would recommend kingpin for anyone who needs theses supplies. Mickey mouse operation "
"Cant believe all the negative reviews! I ordered 4 times for that store as an individual customer, once for tattoo supplies and 3 times for piercing supplies and they never made a mistake on my orders. I also bought the nicest plugs from them (22mm teardrop plugs with a 3D goddess inlay, ordered two pairs of the same and Ive been wearing them for years now!).The last order I made was shipped in 4 business days even though I live in Canada and paid for the regular, cheapest shipping option. Also great customer service every time I had questions. A+ would recommend and will buy from them again!"
"I am so happy with my service from this retailer. The pricing was great and the jewelry I received is of good quality. The best part was the customer service and communication. I was informed within a couple of days of ordering of an out of stock. While they can't process refunds, only store credits or exchanges, I was more than happy to reply to the message with some replacement jewelry of the same cost. All of my jewelry arrived within a week of my response with a nice return email saying thank you. The service was super speedy and the customer service and communication to me was very polite and quick."
"I ordered four labret studs from Painful Pleasures before thinking to read reviews. I was disheartened to read how many people had negative experiences with them, but my order was already placed, so there was nothing I could do about it at that point.
I was pleasantly surprised when my order arrived only 5 days later, and that was with the cheapest shipping option. Everything was exactly as I ordered, and appears to be good quality.
I really like the layout of their site and that they have detailed information on each of their jewelry pieces (gem size, bar length, even the spacing of their threading.)
I also like that they have so many individual accessories available. I have already placed another order for a spare gem for my internally threaded helix bar, as well as a taper for stretching my 18 gauge lobe piercings to a 16 gauge.
Everything seems very reasonably priced. I have visited other online body jewelry shops in which much of the jewelry is extremely cheap, but they make their money by adding hefty shipping charges to each individual piece. Painful Pleasures combines shipping on your entire order, and has many different shipping options to suit your budget and needs.
Unless I have a bad experience with them in the future, they get 5 stars from me. I don't know how good a company they are if you are a shop owner and need to order items in bulk. But for an individual consumer who just needs a few spare bits of jewelry and accessories, they are good enough for me! "
"First of all, Painful Pleasures did not ask me to write this review. I wanted to write it because of all the negative feedback they've gotten that, after my experience, I don't feel they deserve. I ordered three differently coloured 18g-16g 2mm internally threaded steel gem balls, and two 18g 1/4" internally threaded steel labret posts to go with them. I wanted them for my nose piercing because I was pierced with a 16g needle and because of that it was always very hard for me to find jewelry, as most nose jewelry is 18g - 20g. So, I would wear 16g labrets in my nose, only because I happened to find a short enough one to fit, but I recently decided to downsize my piercing to 18g to increase the diversity of jewelry that I can wear. However, I don't find traditional nose jewelry (L-shaped or twist/corkscrew) to be very comfortable for long term wear, and the post style ones are painful to remove because of the bigger ball end that keeps it in your nose. So, I searched long and hard to find short, 18g labrets for long term wear, because I have always found labrets to be the most comfortable for my nose. The ONLY place I could find the exact size I wanted was on the Painful Pleasures website. I was so happy to find exactly what I had been looking for after months of searching. It was all also very reasonably priced. But, after ordering, I read all of these horrible reviews so I got worried about my order. I received a tracking number, but it didn't work. So after everything I figured it was too good to be true, and maybe the whole thing was fake or a scam like people said. But, 10 business days later, my order came in. It arrived in proper packaging with a professional invoice detailing my order. Nothing was missing, it is good quality jewelry, it's all exactly what I wanted/expected, and it showed up much faster than I expected. It also came with a great business card with body jewelry sizing measurements/visuals that I would have found very useful in the past, and probably will in the future too. So I wanted to clear the air about this site, because my order experience was great, and I'm extremely satisfied. The diversity of their products are unlike that of any other shop/website, and I hope they keep that up! "
"Donot buy from Painful Pleasures is not a real business in USA, but from China, they send out outdated needles and ink they clam its new Jan. 2014, but it is not!, the tattoo supply is old/used and 10 years outdated, date says on the tattoo needles Jan. 2004, how can we use the tattoo needles now!!! Painful Pleasures will not give us a refund, and only sends you a part of your order also late with threatening remarks, after you email them. We ordered $521.72 in tattoo needles this month and supplies, we only got half a order in the USPS box. Painful Pleasures is a ripoff and a fake bad business from China, donot order from them, unless you want to be out money, we lost $521.72 and shipping cost!!!!"
"bad service! order 700$ of tattoo supply and didnt get any shipping! no email! nothing. their only take my money...
STAY AWAY!! STAY AWAY FROM PAINFUL PLEASURE "
"I deal with this company only because they are the only place I've found to carry/manufacture specific piercing jewelry, their prime focus seems to be in niche and exotic items, they just sell the basics to collect people to their website.
However.... They offer extremely poor customer service. No notifications if your order has been delayed, backordered, or otherwise take longer than their original timeline.
after several attempts to reach them via e-mail, They finally decided to reply that my order will take 4-6 weeks to manufacture (their website states 2 weeks), I suggested that they should probably update their website to reflect this information, and was responded to quite rudely...
Be wary of ANY site that says all sales are final, no returns, no exchanges, and that you can't cancel your orders...
As I noticed on earlier dealings, that their shipping leaves much to be desired... My current order was placed on Nov 30, 2012, and as of today January 5, 2013, I have yet to receive and shipping confirmation... or the ordered items.
But, as I've said before, since this site deals with fairly niche piercing items, they can treat their customers like crap. Unless we find other sources for our products, we have to continue to deal with them. The unfortunate fact is that they seem to know this, and revel in the fact they have a captive customer base to abuse.
Before I deal with them again, I will go to a local machine shop and see what it will cost me to get my items custom manufactured locally...."
"Wow, I can't believe so many people had such a bad experience, I've ordered twice from this company and I loved what I got!
Recently I ordered from them and my order got botched, but with a few emails they fixed it up right away. They have some really neat hanging jewelry for an actually affordable price. I've noticed quality is of COURSE higher on much more expensive pieces elsewhere, but thats going to be the difference between $6 plugs and $40 plugs. I'm very happy with their cheap selection, especially the carved stuff... wow.
I'll totally order from them again."
"OMG! Be very careful these guys will try scam u for extra postage!!! After you have paid for products and postage, I was also called a f...ing b.tch because I rang pay pal to cover my but as I knew I was getting scammed. Do not trust these guys they will try scam u for more postage money and this you cannot get back!!! "
"Shady and unethical. I wish I'd read online ratings before trying to do business with them. I ordered a custom gold piece last week. Received 2 confirmation emails from painfulpleasures.com accepting the order and they took the money from my bank account. Two days later, they then email me asking for $60 more before they make the item, because "the price of gold went up." (Which, in reality it did not; the general price of gold actually went down in the month prior.) I responded agreeing to their terms because I wanted the item & it was hard to find; but I let them know how unhappy I was with the price increase. They then cancelled my order, even though I agreed. So I requested an immediate refund of the money they already took from my bank and the owner Marc said they already refunded it (which they did not). I intend to file a c.card chargeback to get my $ back if the refund doesn't come through by tomorrow and will be filing a BBB complaint. Stay far away from these people!"
"ABSOLUTELY THE WORST CUSTOMER SERVICE COMPANY I HAVE EVER DEALT WITH!!!!!!!!!!STAY AWAY!!!STAY AWAY!!STAY AWAY!!! That is the best advice I can give to future customers. If there was anything worse then one star I would have selected that!"
"Still awaiting a delivery 2 months after it was supposedly sent. Issue has been raised using the support email. So far all response from seller have been generic with clear indication they have not looked at my order details or check the order details I included in the reply emails. The last email I received asked me to be patient as it could take up to one month to reach me, clear failure to even look at any of their records. Terrible customer service. Obviously I wont shop with them again."
"this website is fake! DONT NOT ORDER FROM THEM! they'll take your money and hide. "
"I ordered my plugs on January 31st. They were not special order and they were not (to my knowledge) backordered. Painful Pleasures did not ship my order until February 7th. This is NOT what I call good or even mediocre customer service. Sure their prices are good, but I will NEVER order from them again!"
