"The Good: It was a good deal cheaper than the other stores out there

The Bad: I ordered Tuesday just after 2pm Est. I called the next morning around noon'ish cause the order status hadn't changed. I'd asked the status / when itd ship and the response was something along the lines of "when they get to it". Thankfully about an hour later things started moving status-wise. The package sadly didn't ship till Thursday morning which pushed it outside the window of me getting it before the weekend. I recall Friday morning seeing that my package had already reached my state and regretting it wasn't shipped the day after I ordered it.

So here's the real rub. I paid just under $30 shipping figuring Id get it before the holiday weekend. They sent it via their us1photo supplier/warehouse (?) and they shipped it to my BILLING address and not my SHIPPING address (yeah, I checked the online order. Not my mistake). I had to play tag with the FedEx guy a few times but finally got the camera. It works. Yay!

So yeah cheap but man what a hassle/delay.


UPDATE UPDATE: So I wanna say Kevin has been trying to call me (while I'm at work till today anyway) and get me to change my review. I turned down the battery/memory card because I'd rather have an honest review. Oh sure I'd like to be refunded my shipping but he seemed more interested in the actual review more than that they screwed up.

So please stop calling me photoloon/us1camera. Hey if you wanna refund my shipping I'll note that on my review and I guess throw you a 3rd star but that's about it.

Gotta go now...

"When I first placed my order with Photo Loon, Bruce, a sales associate, called the next day to verify that my order was correct. If he wouldn't have called to check, I would have purchased two lenses that I already have, and wouldn't have gotten such a good package. My final purchase, although was several hundred more dollars than I initially expected, turned out to be one of the best purchases of the year. Thanks to the outstanding customer service, and knowledgeable sales people, I got a great deal, and I would recommend Photo Loon to anyone interested in purchasing a new DSLR camera."

"I researched many companies attempting to locate the most reputable and honest online photo shop with whom to spend my hard earned money. I chose PhotoLoon after reading ratings from this site and from my research. They actively review what is said about them and attepmt to offer the lowest prices while maintaning quality service. If you need to purchase electronic equipment on the net, I would highly recommend PhotLoon as the best choice. Thank you Brian for your help while on the phone. Once I have had a chance to recieve my new Sony Camcorder, and use it, I will update this review.

This is an update to my original comments above:

I recieved my order and it had been substituded. I ordered an 8GB memory card and I was sent 2 - 4gb cards without being notified that they didn't have an 8GB. When I called to find out how this was to be handled, I was told, once I sent the 2- 4GB cards back, I would recieve the correct card. I stated that I should have had this as part of the original order and the person said, Sorry, I have no idea how this happened. I asked for them to send the correct card and was told they would ship it to me after they recieved the two 4's. I asked that it be sent at the same time and was told no. I was ultimatly told, that once I called in with a tracking number, they would send it at the same time.

I believe that Photloon has tried to be helpful but would have liked to had my order right in the begining. Or told upfront. I would by from this company again with out any worries.

Unless PhotoLoon has a security policy on which the access of european credit cards is not easy, they have managed get my European Amex accepted. For the rest they were very friendly and helpful by email. I have great trust in this company and will be an returning customer. I received the camera without any delay. It was for me fully satisfying. "

"Photo Loon is awesome! I was very skeptical about buying an expensive Nikon SLR Camera online, especially from an online retailer (I am just too used to the local stores around my town). Spending $2500 on a Digitasl SLR, with an online retailer, was a big concern! I read all the reviews about Photo Loon and saw very high ratings here on ResellerRatings.com, so I decided to purchase. Glad I did, it was easy, with no hassles. After the placing of the order online, I called up to make sure they received the order and to expedite my shipping. The salesman on the other line did try to offer me few accessories for this camera though not pushy at all! Is this a salesman? lol, but I did take advantage of one of the specials they had on their memory cards. They processed & shipped the order in 2 days & my Digital Nikon SLR was in my hands in 3 days. Photo Loon was the best price w/free shipping (can't ask for more then that!) The Only bummer is the price dropped $35 3 days later, but after saving $350 and no taxes, can't say much.
Bottom-line Photo Loon is a trusted online retailer & I will definitely buy from them again - Finally a company that actually do care about their customers and not just about their money.

"Based on positive reseller ratings, I attempted to order from Photoloon. After reading some recent ratings I am coming to believe that this is a previous online retailer that fared so badly that they put some money into a new website and started over. Here is the message I received today - I have to admit, I don't even know what it means, am I supposed to confirm so that they can bill me anyway - even though there is no camera? From Photoloon today:
The status of your order has been updated.
New status: Canceled

Dear Valued Customer, The purchase you made is currently over sold and we are waiting for a delivery of the product to our warehouse. Currently, your order will be marked as CANCELED to insure that our automated system will not bill you. Upon product arrival, your status will change and you will be notified by email. At this point, you can either confirm this email (so the item will be shipped to you) or just cancel the order for your convenience. I received a follow up phone call from Photoloon asking me to change my review. They told me that the camera had been discontinued (which is not true - I talked to Canon directly about that), but offered to send me a battery for the camera I purchased from Wolf/Ritz (T1i - excellent camera!). They then followed up by sending me an extra battery for my camera for the "trouble" that the issue caused. So, I didn't get the camera from them, but they did send an extra battery.

"Bait and switch! These positive reviews were probably written by the company employees themselves. Don't believe them! I ordered a camera a 2 weeks ago, because everyone seemed to be posting positive reviews for this company. The website said that the camera was in stock. Then they made me call them saying that they need to verify my credit card. When I called, they tried to upsell me on extended warrenties and said it was on backorder. They said it would be shipped in 10 more days. Two weeks later they canceled my order. Complete SCAM! I'll be ordering my camera equipment from a reputable company from now on.


EDIT - Since posting this review, I was called by a fake phone number and bullied to change this review. He insists that the other reviews are real. I am skeptical of that... He was EXTREMELY rude, and would not stop talking. He tried to give me something for free to change my review to a positive one. I had already ordered the camera from another place, and told him to make sure my order was canceled. He proceeded to threaten to leave a bad review for my company if I didn't remove this review. Fortunately for me, my company is huge, and one bad review won't matter, so I told him to go ahead and leave a fake bad review. Eventually I hung up the phone on him because of his horrible attitude. STAY AWAY!

"The len ( AF-S 18-105mm ) looks good. It is cheaper than other web sites. I have bought the body of D60 without lens. This len belongs to the kit of D90.With it, you can take pictures nearly as good as D90 in a much lower price."

"Dear Sir/Madam,

I am a working photographer/artist with 30+ years of self-employed professional experience. My time is as valuable as the price I pay for equipment or services. When I recently searched the web for the best price on a Canon lens, I found both great service and best price at PhotoLoon.

And here was an added value, because of a manufactures glitch in the lens I received, I had to do a return on the lens. No hassle, no extra charges, no question. A week later I had a new lens (with warranty). The fact that they have followed up with me recently to ask for a review (good,bad or otherwise) speaks volumes to someone like myself. It tells me loud and clear the first stop for my next purchase (3 bodies and two lenses) will be PHOTOLOON.

Let me offer a quick story for comparison.
There are many retailers on the web these days, some of very questionable scruples and behavior. Six months ago I was looking for a different lens in the $700 range, and a different retailer had a great price--until I placed the order. Then the sales person asked me whether I wanted a "plastic" or "metal" mount?!@#$ The additional cost was $60 to $150!! 'Nuf said?

PhotoLoon knows they may not always be able to offer the best price; but they also know and show what else is VERY important in getting customers, keeping customers, and staying in business.

"After been called by a sales person who pitched me what sounded like a bait and switch (trying to upsell me a package including a factory battery and charger, memory card etc because the order I had for the Pentax K20D was supposedly an open box with third party accessories...) I was called by a manager who made things right. He honored the order per the website. I received the camera new in the box, a little over two weeks after the initial date of order. The manager was also honest on the warranty. I am now satisfied with my order process. Order from them if you know exactly what you want and definitely deal with their manager if you can. They do care enough about their ratings here to have called me to remind me to change my initial review even though I had not received the camera yet. Somehow I question the business model after reading all the reviews similar to mine:
1) Order online,
2) Get an upsell attempt phone call, which leads to and order cancellation if you refuse the up sell.
3) Post a negative review here
4) Get a phone call from the manager who will work with you and get you what you need sometimes even offering you free parts in exchange of a review change.

In any case, I would say they are not bad people, just strange business practices. Order with care.

"I searched the web for te best price for quite a while and was surprised by the savings at Photo Loon. I ordered right before Christmas so it took awhile to get the camera, but I wasn't in a hurry. When I made the purchase, the salesperson had many upsell offers, but he was very low-key and polite about it. Some of the offers I could not refuse because the price was so low compared to anywhere else, and I especially had wanted the insurance which was offered to me very cheap. Everything was delivered correctly as ordered and I have been very happy with the product."
