"Just shut this place down. Platos closet literally will give u $1 per item. Not worth it mine as well sell your clothes on poshmark. "
"Took in a basket of clothing all in great condition some that still had tags it. They took only a few items and when I asked what the criteria they were looking for as to why they were only taking a few items they said they looked worn and some had stains. They did not also at least 5 items still had tags on them they said oh they don't take those items. Which on their website stated they were looking for those items. The items that they did take had more wear than the items they gave back. Overall pretty disappointing experience. "
"I took in a bin of clothes only to be told they were looking for teen clothing, they have clothes in the store large and extra large . The clothes were folded and neat only for them to toss in like garbage not a great place for business I’ll make sure to tell my friends "
"They claim to want brand names yet rarely buy the next to new brand name items I bring in. They give really poor excuses as to why they don’t take your things when it’s clearly just a personal choice made by a high school student making minimum wage and who follows current “style” trends instead of thinking this item is good quality or brand name for example. When they have purchased from me it has been items from cheap crap stores or items with no brand name on them. I once even sold a scarf that was ancient and had never been washed. They once tried to give me $7 for a brand new pair of Birkenstock sandals. When you look around much of the time the items for sale aren’t brand name and aren’t in great shape so it’s incredibly frustrating when they decide they won’t buy from you. Just give things to friends or family or host swaps. This place is the worst. Too bad because it’s a great concept. "
"I went to return with the receipt and with the tag and I wasn’t able to get my money back. Apparently they need my 16. 00 bucks more than I do. I’ll NEVER give them another cent."
"Drove almost an hour after calling them and asking them if they took vintage New Old Stock suede leather jackets that still had the tag on them and they were like brand new and she said yeah bring them in when I got there they said they were out of date you know so I wasted all that time and gas for some teenager to tell me they were too old"
"High end clothes that they turned away and they only excepted four pieces out of two totes. The four they took were just average but nice. I walked around the store and there was not one piece of clothing I would have bought but they didnt even consider the beautiful clothes I had offered. Too many nice ones to mention. I really dont believe they even looked through my totes. They wanted to lock up and go home. I asked them if another day was better and they could have given me another day. Very disappointed because to turn away such beautiful clothes - than this business will not make it. I will move on with not ever going in this place again but its sad for what this shop could be."
"They took 2 Nike shorts that are originally 25 dollars, and 3 other shirts of mine that more than 10 dollars and only gave me 12.65. Plato’s Closet is a scam and they do not give you the true worth of your clothing. "
"Frequent customer. Gave them plenty of chances to show me the value in selling. We have taken things in they sold to us a month ago. Worn once and they “rejected”. Have tried several locations. The east Columbus location is the best ( or was ) pre pandemic. Seriously. Sell online if you have new items. "
"Went to a PC to sell some BRAND NEW WITH TAGS clothes and threw in a few other random t shirts that were headed for the donation bin anyway, that my daughter gave to me that she no longer wanted. They rejected everything except the T shirts and paid me $8. I saw so many items that were overpriced (on the thrift level anyway) on the rack while I was waiting. They girls behind the counter who were looking over the items were teenagers, and the whole thing made me laugh."
"Went in with one bag of jeans and shorts and 2 boxes with brand new boots. Most items had tags on them and the shoes were never worn the girl looked at it so quickly like literally 1 minute. I waited for over 30. I don't think she wanted to be bothered. Then only took 1 pair of pants and a pair of shorts and said that the rest we out of date .the shorts were 10 years old so that is a lie about them taking newer stuff and they only gave me 2 dollars per item . The store looked like a thrift store would not buy anything from there and will not be going back. Complete waste of time. "
"Would definitely rate this ALOT lower than it already is but, do not go platos and sell your clothing to them!!!! You will get absolutely nothing for them or they won’t even take anything. The workers there are super difficult and picky with the clothing, I brought in brand new lulu leggings with tags did not take them then went back and they took them"
"Went in and they told us to put our clothes into reusable containers. Went to dollar store to put them into reusable containers and brought them back. They took nothing because they were “overstocked”. Makes me think they were just lazy and didn’t want to deal with it."
"I have been there many times to sale name brand items in the past no problems...Always says items are too old or not in style when I have visited their website and done my research as well as looked around the store..Only witnessed them buying items from teens..smh"
