"This review is being written one week after ordering a Pentair Intelliflo variable speed pool pump (011018), a set of Intelliflo pump unions, and a couple of jugs of chemicals.

4 business days after placing the order, the pump arrived damaged due to improper foam packing by the manufacturer (Pentair). The unit shifted in the box, broke through the cardboard, was scraped with some bent metal, and after submitting pictures to PoolSupplyWorld, was declared a NO GO. I should point out that this may not have occurred if PoolSupplyWorld had placed the manufacturer's box in a larger box with foam "peanuts". In my opinion, a large heavy unit like a pool pump should not be shipped only in it's original box which is sufficient for being shipped on a pallet, but not for handling on it's own. Instead, it should have been protected by a second layer.

Also of note, the pump unions were not shipped until 5 business days after the order, and are not expected to arrive until 10 business days after the order. Had the pump not been damaged, the installation would still have been delayed for weeks due to the slow handling and delivery of the additional parts required for the installation.

It is still too early to report on the return process. I should point out that 24 hours after calling it in, and submitting an RMA email with pictures, I still had not received any messages back. I called in to check status, and found that it still had not be processed. Because of the delay, the manufacturer would not be contacted until after the upcoming 3 day weekend.

This pump does not have a lot of bells and whistles and useless buttons and such, which are just more components that could need work or break down..Looks like it will weather great even if it does not have a cover over it..
