" I purchased a Hayward Goldline Replacement Cell on April 6, 2011, and have been experiencing problems since January of this year. My system was not generating chlorine. I learned at that time I needed to replace the main circuit board on my system because a terminal on the board was burnt. Due to cold weather/water I have not been able to further determine why chlorine has not been generating. The pool water has now reached a temperature where my system should be generating chlorine and it isn't. Given I have had the new cell for nearly a year I was concerned about the warranty. I sent an email to Pool Supply World the evening of March 27, and received a response from Faith at 8:57 am on March 28. Faith offered two suggestions. I could contact Hayward or she would also be happy to conference all of us together to remedy the problem.
I first contacted Hayward and learned I have a 3 year warranty on the cell. They also recommended a local company in Tucson, Arizona (Valley Oasis Pools) who will honor the warranty if necessary. Following my conversation with Hayward I contacted Valley Oasis Pools and spoke with Julie. She was also very helpful. She let me know I would need the invoice in the event the cell is defective.
I contacted Faith to let her know I did not have my invoice in case the cell is defective. I had searched for it and could not locate it. By this time I was very emotional about my pool situation and was actually in tears. Faith was very patient with me, and said that was not a problem because she had one at her finger tips, and would be happy to fax it to me. I provided purchase details in my email to Pool Supply World. Faith listened as I rambled on and on about my ordeal. Never once did she waiver in her concern about helping me to find a way to remedy my problem. Her listening skills are wonderful. I also let her know I had been in contact with Valley Oasis Pools who were very helpful as well. I gave Faith the numbers for Valley Oasis here in Tucson.
Faith was my first contact in setting in motion a situation that has been very frustrating on a path to resolution. The "tone" of her email, and the tone in her voice when I spoke with her said "I care". As a consumer that means so much in our world of lackluster customer support. Please let Faith know how much I appreciate her time and effort. My guess is she will respond by saying it is her job to help. You aren't going to get off that easy Faith. You did more than your job. You offered patience, empathy, and compassion during a very stressful time for me. For that I am grateful.
I will be following up with Faith after the local technician from Valley Oasis Pools comes to my home and determines what needs to be completed to get my salt chlorinating system functioning properly.
