"This is an updated version of my opinion after I have talk to Ivan on the phone clearing some of the problems that I have. I'm a reasonable man, and I'll listen to the other side as long as it's reasonable. The review is base on my logic, and more or less customer oriented point of view(At lease the way I see it). If there is any discussion to the dealer, I'll included in here as well.
1. First issue, the billing, the day after I have place my order, my creditcard was charged. This is unusual turning event. As with most people, I have not seen or expect to get charged until the product is shipped. And I still do think like that. But, Ivan have reasonably explain why my creditcard was charged(to his point of view). He explained to me later, after I have posted an initial review, that on the customize laptop the creditcard have to be charge before they can order the laptop from Fujitsu, because it's not returnable. It does make sense, otherwise the dealer may stuck with bunch of product that cannot be return to the manufacturor. So, any possible buyer should think of this as a warning. It's unusual, but they do so to limit their financial responsibility, and it's reasonable. A note to Portable One is, the company should have warn this to the customer ahead of time, by phone, e-mail, or atleast put it on the website, on the ordering page or the product page.
2. Even though it's not Portable One fault for doesn't have the product, it's fujitsu problem, but I think they should let us know by e-mail or order status(website) about the delay, rather than waiting for customer to call, especially on this large scale, It's not like I'm the only one who order S6210 through them. This not only cost inconvenience for the customer, it waste their time as well. They could have eliminate a lot of call.
3. This could have been just my luck. There are many things that have gone wrong, some cause by misunderstanding, some are not even Portable One fault, and some are just my darn luck. We have an misunderstanding when I call Portable One on Friday(6/11/04), which I was told it will be shipped out on Monday. Due to some misunderstanding (miscommunication between me and Portable One, which was later explain to me later), the product got shipped on Tuesday instead. This delay was cause by an extra inspection, request by me, to inspect the keyboard and the screen and run some memory test because I order an upgrade to the memory. So, I guess they did do the inspection on it. Didn't very check it myself yet though. The day that the product suppose to be deliver, Fedex tracking said "incorrect address", my darn luck or what. I have spend many phone call to Portable One to check what went wrong. Ivan have called FedEx also to check what's wrong. So, they have tried to get thing straight as best as they can, and I do appreciate that. The day after, today, after I got home and inspect the package, the shipping label on the box actually say the wrong address. So, whoever put that label on, you know who you are. What have done is done, there is nothing I can do about that.
so, here is my conclusion. Portable is not a perfect company, and none are. They sometime fail to inform customer ahead of time, and I think it's very important. But, they very do have one of the best customer services, and know how to take care the customer if thing go wrong which is very hard to come by this day."
"This is the best experience I have had with a computer dealer. When it turned out that my order wouldn't be ready in time for a software development course I was taking, Ivan of Global Computers sent me a rental unit to use for the course and until my order was shipped.
My order shipped in a timely manner and was exactly what I wanted. I can unconditionally and without hesitation recommend Global Computers for your laptop purchase. This company is run by professionals and their prices are fair. I would dare say that Global Computers sets the standards for quality and customer satisfaction.

"Simply put: The BEST. They have upgraded my shipping for free, gone out of their way to provide timely, fair service. They have been available after the purchase, allowing easy exchanges for defective products.
They are outstanding at what they do, I cannot say anymore. I've purchased two Tablet PCs from them (HP TC1000 and TC1100) and I will not hesitate to purchase from them in the future. As a matter of fact, I've never experienced a company that goes this far out of their way to keep the customer satisfied.
Nice going Global Computers!!"

"I would have to agree with nottestuser. I ordered a Fujitsu S6120D laptop on Nov. 6, 2003. The product page still indicates that they have this model in stock. I called four days later because I didn't receive a confirmation or tracking number. They told me that they ran out of stock and are expecting shipment Nov. 14, 2003.
Okay, that's still within my threshold for pain. On Nov. 13, 2003, I decided that I would just go and pick up the laptop on Friday instead and gave them another call. Opps, now Fujitsu postponed this to Nov. 17, 2003. Ughh...alright, fine. I'll wait a few more days.
After a few days, I couldn't wait any longer. I am going on a trip before Thanksgiving and need a laptop. I gave them one final call. Opps!! Fujitsu has delayed it again to Nov. 28, 2003. Are you kidding me!?!? Cancel! Cancel!
Thanks for wasting my time. It's unfortunate that they have a high rating, I was expecting much more. The only email I received was the one after I made the order; no follow up about delays or ETA (very poor). Real-time, online inventory is completely false (very bad). Poor vendor management, if I were Global, I'd slam a hammer down on Fujitsu (very poor). Only thing that was good was call-in support, I never had to wait to talk to a live person and service was always fast and quick (very good). Too bad it didn't work out. Loss of business revenue, $1800 (very bad)."

"I'll be the odd man out and rate these guys poorly.
I ordered a laptop from them at the begining of August. Second day shipping, wait two days, no laptop. Call them and they say "Oh, that's on back order, next week". Nice of them to a) put that on the website when viewing the product b) check inventory when I was completing my order online c) send me email when the person cleared my card and d) call me before had to wonder where my laptop was. NOT!
Ok, bad inventory management but nice people on the phone. Wait 10 days. Call again. "Oh, we still don't have any, ah, next week"
Wait another week. No laptop. Call again. Next week.
Call again on 8/28. "Ah! They'll be in on 9/1! We'll send one to you right away."
Finally the laptop arrives on 9/5 FedEx overnight. The airbill says 9/4 for the ship date. Nice "right away".
I open up the box and I'm missing the second battery and the laptop case. The battery is noted as being drop ship from Fujitsu. Again, thanks for letting me know a) on the web site when ordering the battery b) while checking out and c) in my confirmation email. NOT!
Call about the case and they say that they're custom made, they ran out, and they're waiting for the manufacturer to ship more. Next week.
Battery arrives about a week later.
Call 9/12. "Call back 9/24."
Call 9/24. "Ah, we don't have any."
So I call them today (10/27) after forgetting about them for a month and they say they ship it out to me right away. I guess I had to remind them to send me the product I paid for.
If you want to order from these guys, call them and have them check inventory while you're on the phone. You do get a live person when you call and they're usually pretty nice. Except the guy who argued with me about how they were "too big" to be able to do real-time inventory when I suggested it to them. (I suppose they're bigger than Amazon? Ingram Micro? Dell?)
There are too many vendors on the Internet for me to bother with these amateurs again."

"Shortly after hearing about the LifeBook C2220, I decided to order one; upon finding Global Computers, and reading the reviews here, I went ahead and placed the order.
It wasn't in stock--presumably because it was a new model--so I chose to have it delivered directly from the manufacturer (rather than select a similar item). Though the policy of charging my credit card immediately made me a little nervous--being a first time customer, and all--I soon found my order shipped to me. Over the course of a few weeks, my system, free RAM upgrade, and Auto/Air adapter all arrived, brand new and in perfect working order. During the wait, all of my annoying emails were answered, promptly and politely (my sincerest thanks to Jason).
They have both low prices AND great service, which is a killer combo nowadays; you hear too many horror stories about other outfits who make promises they can't keep. But not Global Computers.
Should I need accessories, I'll most definitely be purchasing them through GCI; they'll also be highly recommended to friends."

"There is nothing I can say bad about this company. I found them while surfing the net lookin for a Fujitsu N3010. Soon after I made my decision and purchased, I came up on orders for Iraq (I'm in the military), I decided I needed something a little more light weight, so I decided to go with a Fujitsu S6120D. I must have changed my order a half dozen times, as I couldn't get my mind straight on what I wanted in the laptop. They handled all of my emails and calling on the phone with a pleasant "Happy to Help you attitude".
I would happily recommend this company to anyone, especially those looking to purchase a laptop. People like Jason, Ivan, and Victor make this a company that has all of my future purchases for laptops. You can't beat the freebies also, like free shipping, free RAM upgrades, and a free 3.5" drive.
Simply the best."

"Absolutely spectacular service. They bent over backwards to make me happy and I have the utmost respect for them. After a delay in shipments from Fujitsu, they MADE the computer I ordered from what they had in-stock so that it wouldn't be delayed. They were always friendly and courteous and above all very well educated about their merchandise."

"Fast, courteous and knowledable. Purchased a unit with free memory, asked them to install the memory they did, no extra charge, and they even checked my screen for bad pixels. "

"I purchased a Fujitsu Lifebook P series from them and I am very glad I did. They seemed much more knowledgable with the Fujitsu products then Fujitsu's direct sales team and when I was in need of technical support they were able to help and solve my problem over the phone within 20 minutes after I waisted over a 1 week with Fujitsu's tier 1 and tier 2 support. "Purchased a Panasonic Toughbook 72 laptop for approximately $3,900. Also purchased auto/air adapter based on their recommendation. Laptop shipped without auto/air adapter. Upon contact, company agreed to ship overnight...but despite agreement to ship "no signature required" the adapter was shipped with a signature required. As a result had to drive 80 miles round trip to pick the adapter up from the fedex depot in order to have in time for trip. Upon opening the adapter, find that it is listed as compatible with fujitsu notebooks but not panasonic. I call the adapter company and they advise that they make an adapter for panasonic but it is not the one Laptopinc shipped. I call Panasonic and they agree the specs are wrong and could void the warranty. I call and email laptopinc twice to discuss the problem. On both occasions, Laptopinc states that the adapter is fine and the manufacturer/panasonic are mistaken. Rather than wind up with a $3,900 paperweight or voided warranty, I eat the cost of the wrong adapter and go out and purchase one that is listed as compatible. Total cost of rectifying Laptopinc.com's poor customer service and shipment of wrong adapter - $200 and about 8 hours of my time. Based on my experience I would not buy from this company again."
“Customer is obviously mad because we shipped adapter signature required, since it is a phone order credit card transaction we have to. We advised him prior to shipping product that the auto/air adapter was not in stock and we would ship as soon as they arrive, whihc we did and paid overnight because he stated he needed it right away. As for compatibilty of the adapter we sent, we only offered 2 adapters for the Toughbooks at that time(Lind & xTend) and since we are one of Panasonics oldest toughbook and TP3 partners we would only ship correct adapter so have no clue where he came up with this story and why??”
"ordered a Fujitsu computer, they gave a good offer with free shipping and 256MB ram. Order arrived in a great condition and in time. Great experience, I will buy from them again."
