I'm active duty military and am currently (as I write this) traveling to Iraq for a long deployment (I'm stuck overnight on the east coast due to our plane having a small maintenance issue). As you can probably imagine time is at a premium for me right about now with last minute phone calls and goodbyes, but I just couldn’t leave the States without leaving this feedback/rating. Donald Stratton helped me though the entire build and purchase of my laptop and I want to say “thank you Donald” before I say anything else. My previous laptop, (a Dell XPS m1730) had just been destroyed in the cargo hold of the aircraft I fly for the Navy, so I started my research into laptops. I read hundreds of reviews and finally settled on Powernotebooks.com. I emailed the company about 2-3 hours after their posted business hours on a weekday, asking to be contacted the next morning to discuss a few options I was contemplating. What I got was an email reply within 3 minutes answering each question I had asked in my email. links to a few reviews and and other information regarding Powernotebooks.com, and as a toll free number I could call that night or the next morning was also included. I called it and got the message machine as it was after hours so I emailed back saying it was no big deal and that I would call the next morning, (I also left my home number just to see what would hapen). Not 2 minutes later my phone rang and on the other end was Donald Stratton. He spent about 30 minutes of his time (after working hours)completely discussing every option available on the two notebooks I was torn betwen, the NP8660 and the NP9262. After the call there was no doubt which computer was right for me as well as which options and components made the most sense for me. I chose the NP8660 due to the fact that portability was now a priority to me as I wanted the ability to keep the laptop with me in the cockpit, rather than the cargo area of my aircraft to prevent another laptop mishap.

My computer was built on the exact schedule I was quoted during purchase, and sent via UPS with a tracking number on the exact day Powernotebooks.com told me it would be sent. It arrived very well packaged without a scratch. The computer looked great out of the box and upon startup there was absolutely no junk programs installed which was great. I spent the next two days loading up all the programs, games, and files I would need udring my deployment and not once did I experience a single error message, crash, slowdown, or any other problem.

As for performance..... All I can say is HOLY COMPUTING POWER BATMAN!!! This little guy plays games just as well as my desktop which is a liquid cooled, Quad core, dual 8800GTX beast. Sure the FPS isnt the same but to my eyes, Fallout 3, Farcry 2, The Witcher Enhanced Version, and WoW all play beautifully and without any lag or shutter, All at high to very high settings.

The webcam looks amazing as well, a feature my wife and little boy love due to our current seperation. The mouse pad is actually easy and a joy to use which is strange because I usually hate using the laptop mouse pads The screen is amazingly clear and bright, the speakers, despite getting a few less than positive reviews sound great to me and I am constantly turing down the volume here in my hotel room for fear I might wake up my next door neighbor. Sure it isnt a surround sound Bose system but it’s a laptop and I can carry it over a single shoulder.

As for physical build, this thing looks solid and business like. My wife even comented that it looked very sleek and classy compared to my Dell which looked like a plastic toy. The fit and finish is amazing and I'm a huge stickler for detail, (I guess 4 years as a enlisted Marine followed by 8 years of flying jets off aircraft carriers will do that to you).

I'm sure there are a ton more things I could comment on about this laptop but I’ll just wrap this up with the following: There isn't a single thing I would change about this machine or the entire experience I had while working with Powernotebooks.com and their staff.
