"I ordered a replacement LCD screen for my MacbookAir and received it promptly. After installing the screen, it powered up beautifully. Except, that I now get error messages directing me to reboot the system. This occurs about two minutes after every reboot. I called Powerbook Medic technical support and was told this is a kernal panic and not related to the LCD replacement, likely a RAM error or logic module error. Never had this problem before and the computer is now unusable.
I was contacted by Powerbook Medic for more detail concerning the LCD problems that I encountered. At their suggestion, I sent my system to them for diagnosis and they promptly corrected the problems that I had encountered (likely created by me). They provided me with timely updates and quickly solved the problem, at no charge to me.
I could not ask for better service and their professionalism is evident in the concern expressed over my satisfaction in their product. Excellence in every aspect of their business.

"MY RECOMMENDATION:

Avoid this company.


COMPLAINTS:

1) They shipped me a part was damaged (in condition other then what was advertised).

2) Their advertised satisfaction policies are illogical or nonexistent.


DETAIL:

I purchased a replacement back case for my iPad from PowerbookMedic that they listed was in "Grade A" condition, which they define as "Scratches possible, but no defects, heavy wear or dents)."

The part I received however was 1) bent and 2) the top edge has many gouges on it. You can't see how visible the gouges are on the face once installed, nor the bend itself until you fully install the part, which involves sealing the iPad shut again. As soon as I did this, I noticed the large gap on the front right of my iPad. You can even see the base of the volume buttons through the gap. There are many tools on the market to open iPads, some will leave damage, others will not. It also requires some skill. It is clear that they used the wrong type of tool to remove the part from the donor iPad, or the employee was not skilled at doing the removal without causing this type of damage.

I sent them a picture of part installed and informed them that I was not at all happy with what I had received. They responded to me with a message stating that "Our parts are checked by several departments prior to shipping out." I don't believe that this is true. If it is, then it appears they are intending to send parts out in worse condition then advertised, as this is what I received.

They also said: "We must receive photos of parts that are received in a condition other than what was listed, prior to installation." This is of course logical for some parts, but for the back case of an iPad and the damage in such a way, you could not 1) tell that the part was actually bent or 2) tell if the gouges would be visible on the outside of the case. Because of these facts, their policy is unreasonable.

They also list right on their product page for this item "Satisfaction guaranteed unless otherwise specified." No where did it say that satisfaction was not guaranteed. Therefore they have advertised a satisfaction guarantee policy, but have not honored it, when I made them aware of the condition the part that I received was in.

"The replacement logic board arrived promptly and works great ... and at about half the cost of other sellers!! And the website is fantastic. It is extremely helpful. I've disassembled desktop units quite often, but rarely laptops. So, I referenced the repair videos quite a bit, and they made disassembly and reassembly easy. If I need more parts and repair help, I'll definitely check PowerbookMedic.com first."

"Service was super, price was right. My black MacBook began to flicker in odd ways. I found others had similar problems and guessed mine had the same cause. Handled the entire transaction on line and it all went as they said it would. Their initial diagnosis turned out to be wrong and the solution less expensive than first estimate. I would never have known but they were straight up about it."
