The slim profile and clean design add a nice modern look to our kitchen. The dual fans are very quiet but still vent smoke and strong smells very effectively. The LED lights provide plenty of light over the range for cooking. Since we cook daily in the kitchen, we really love having a range hood that looks nice and functions well. Recently we had an issue with the lights and customer service responded to my email immediately. They let me know that the range hood was still under warranty and offered to send the replacement parts."

"I’m being compelled to write this review in part due to the high quality of the product and their convincing customer service. It all started several years ago when I learned how to prepare Chinese fried rice using a flat bottom wok on our 30” free standing electric range. Yes you can do it and it can taste awesome, however, due to the high heat and the ingredients the kitchen filled up with very thin smoke of sort as well as unpleasant odors. After some thinking and research, I figured out the general contractor quality range hood was too weak to extract the particulates during that type of cooking. After researching for a while I discovered the PROLINE Range Hoods; I was impressed with their product selection, detailed specifications and the fact that some of their top of the line range hoods are made in the USA. I reviewed the installation manuals and the local code to determine which model I could install in my kitchen without repositioning the cabinet or having to redo the exhaust duct.
After some deliberation I settled on just replacing the existing cheap range hood with the PROLINE PLJW 185.30, a relatively new model at the time. This is an under cabinet range hood and is only 5” tall. The salient specification of their unit, from their website, are: 10” x 3” rectangular vent duct size, Stainless Steel baffle filters, 4 speed dual blower, 1.5 W Led lighting, 5.0 Sones, and 600 CFM maximum. I ordered and installed my unit on late July 2016. Unboxing the unit was very rewarding as the weight, look and feel exposed the high quality of the product, the close to $ 400 I paid for the unit was a good investment. During installation the weight made it a bit tricky to hold the unit in place while attaching it to the cabinet, also there were a few sharp edged inside the unit. In my case, adapting the existing duct to the unit was not straight forward; I had to use sheet metal and snips to achieve a good seal. Well within my skills, but it took longer than what I anticipated.
I was pleasantly surprised with the looks, how quiet it is and much stronger compared to the older contractor grade range hood. The PLJW 185.30 has at least twice the CFM than my old range hood. Although the 600 CFM is not enough for a high heat wok cooking, I knew it before I bought it, it is significantly better than what I had. The SS baffle filters are easily cleaned in my dish washer. The 4 speed dual blower can be very strong, but their slowed setting it very quiet. My unit has a neat feature, where the blowers can either be turned off right away or shutoff by a timer after a few minutes. Great for when you are done cooking, but the kitchen is still hot, keeps the air flowing, pushing hot smelly air out and fresh air in.
The Stainless Steel used on this unit is ferromagnetic, I was a bit disappointed by that, however, it also means that I can stick magnets such as those in kitchen timers. Also the price point will prohibit the use of higher quality SS. I recently contacted PROLINE for a warranty claim, my unit developed defective Light Emitting Diodes (LED) lighting and AC to DC converter (transformer). The three year warranty doesn’t cover lightning fixtures directly, however, this time around and thanks in part to this review, they will honor the warranty for the transformer and the LEDs. Overall I’m very satisfied with the product and its quality, highly recommend it and can honestly say that PROLINE Range Hoods will be my first choice on any future kitchen project."

"We ordered a Proline Professional Range hood as a wedding gift for our son's kitchen. It was delivered on time, well packed and ready to install. We ordered this hood for its large volume of air flow, quiet functioning and stainless steel baffles that can be cleaned in the dishwasher. Also it has a set of heat lamps to keep food warm. It uses 8" ducts for the large volume of air carried so this needs special framing. The hood is beautiful and gives his kitchen a classy look. We are extremely pleased with the product and customer video that shows the hood details. We plan to purchase another hood from Proline when our second son's new home is ready for one."

"A friend referred me to ProLine because he was very happy with the hood he'd purchased the year before. The hood I ordered (36", outdoor, wall mount) turned out to have a problem where the controller malfunctioned when the grill was running hot. It started intermittently and slowly got worse over several months but sometimes it still worked fine.

I e-mailed ProLine customer service and explained the symptoms. I got a response within 24 hours asking for more information, which I sent along. After a few e-mail exchanges they decided it was probably a bad circuit board and ordered one for me. It had to be back ordered but showed up on my doorstep several weeks later. It was a bit of a challenge to replace with the hood installed on the wall, but I finished it only to find it didn't work at all. I suspected I did a poor job on the install but I swapped the original back in and it was back to the original failure. More time passed and the failure started to happen more frequently. I was able to make a video recording of it showing the exact failure and forwarded to ProLine requesting a complete replacement hood.

Per their warranty, they had the option of sending more repair parts and I was worried they might ask me to attempt another difficult repair. Instead, within a few days, I received a brand new replacement hood on my doorstep. I swapped it out and it's been working perfectly for the last 4 months. On top of that, instead of asking me to return the bad hood, they suggested I salvage whatever parts I I wanted from the bad unit and discard the rest.

So I get it that sometimes quality problems happen. What I appreciate, and why they get 4 stars overall, is because they were pleasant to work with, stood by their product, and made it all good in the end, and that matters a lot to me. Also, my friend has the same model and he hasn't had any problems in over 2 years.

I cook --A LOT!--so effective means quiet and with adequate air movement. (I have a 6 burner commercial stove with dual ovens, a salamander and a grill.) This does the trick and it does it without interrupting my conversation with my guests. And it looks great! People walk in and look at my set up and they can't believe it."
