In 2007, I purchased and installed a wall-mounted Rapid Reel for our condominium Main Deck. It is a dedicated parallel configuration. All the owners here have been impressed with the quality and the ease of use of this product. So, when we decided to add a hose reel to our front landscaped area, Rapid Reel was our first choice.
The new reel needed to be a perpendicular configuration, and I was a little surprised that a dedicated perpendicular model was no longer offered. Decided to go ahead and get the Model 1041, which is described to provide the option of a parallel or a perpendicular configuration. I was a bit skeptical that this design could match the strength of the old dedicated version, but after assembling the unit and installing it on our building, I can say it is plenty strong. It really is an ingenious design.
Additionally, the Cam-Lever Brake is simple to adjust, and quiet--an improvement over the previous model.
(We also purchased the high quality Eley 100-foot garden hose.)
Overall, the Rapid Reel is an excellent product. Highly recommended.
