"I've used Rentalcars.com numerous times during my travels to Europe. The previous rental company was not at the airport (Schipol), rather 5km away and you had to take a bus. Collecting not such a problem, but delivering puts pressure on your return flight as you need to wait for a bus. This was not that bad, although Rentalcars.com did not make it very clear. The problem I have with Rentalcars.com is a recent booking I made at Munich Airport. My booking was for June 2020. I wanted to cancel the booking in March 2020 when the world went into Covid lockdown, but I was convinced by Rentalcars.com to rather move my booking forward as I would loose my insurance if I cancel. I moved the booking to September 2020. Germany has and still is closed to people not from Netherlands or Belgium. I am from South Africa, so we can still now in July 2021 not travel to Germany. When I called to cancel and get a refund this week, Rentalcars.com told me my booking was complete. I contacted Rentalcars.com but they told me I had to cancel withing 48hours. What is the point to cancel if the airport is closed and the country closed to the outside world? Rentalcars.com stole my money under the pretense of cancellation. $700.00 stolen from me by Rentalcars.com. Do not use them! I will stay with AVIS or book directly in future. "
"Rentalcars.com is a scam. I have booked a car rental through Rentalcars.com with a pickup at the Warsaw Airport. It turns out Rentalcars.com does not have any offices in Poland, they don’t even have any cars. Rentalcars.com is a "middle-man" online only company from Great Britain. Rentalcars.com does not have any vehicles to rent. They use other (real) car rental companies to fulfil their bookings. Rentalcars.com charged my credit card $901.10 about a month before my trip, but Rentalcars.com did not pay the local car rental company in Poland. I supposed to pick-up a vehicle from Warsaw Airport from an agency Rentalcars.com designated to fulfil my booking. But when I landed at the Warsaw Airport and went to the designated location, I discovered that that companies’ office has been closed for about two months. I did not get the vehicle, but Rentalcars.com kept my $901.10 claiming that I did not show up. Check Better Business Bureau, you will be surprised what you see."
"I have been a long time frequent user of rentalcars.com and would historically suggested then to many people. Not anymore. I had a very bad experience over the last 2 days when I tried to cancel a reservation that had been outlined incorrectly. Once I received the confirmation and saw who the supplier was I immediately cancelled (all within 5 min) and was told I would not receive a refund. After numerous emails back and forth, they said they tough luck. All for the ale of €70? Seems short sighted. I am done with them, sadly. "

I booked my rental car in Jan. for Sep. to Dublin, IE. Due to COVID-19, I had to change my booking from Sep. to Mar. However, I was told to call back closer to the date three times. The second time, I was told that I would be reimbursed for my $65 dollars if I call back Sep. 8th., and wait to see if they had a car to accommodate my same price so I wouldn't have to pay triple my original price. WELL, THEY LIED because I just called them, they didn't have a car to accommodate me, and they said that they couldn't reimburse me for my $65. WAIT A MINUTE, it's not my fault that there's a pandemic and thank you, rental.com for lying and misleading a customer.
You'll be a fool to rent from this rip off company. I looked at other websites and their prices are no where near as high as this company.

"Rented a minivan and was billed immediately on 6/13/20 for $246.14. Picked up the minivan from Routes Car Rental in Atlanta (NEVER AGAIN - FOR EITHER) Jul 8, 2020 and waited over an hour to get my van. They were using it to shuttle ppl back and forth to the airport because their shuttle was in the shop. After going back and forth wondering what's taking so long. Randall explained and apologized. He stated he will make an adjustment for the inconvenience and appreciated my patience. The new contract is for $180.54. There's a difference owed to me now of $65.60. FYI, they only put about a qtr of gas and did not clean the inside or outside of the vehicle either. I returned the vehicle Jul 13, 2020 and Randall confirmed I would receive my credit in a few days. I have had several correspondence and had to make several phone calls to Routes for my credit.. Their customer service is non-existent and you have to dig to find a telephone number for them. They want you to send an email. Finally, an email on 7/22/2020 stating my credit was authorized but now I have to contact Rentalcars.com for the refund. After a few emails and filing a complaint on their site because there is no telephone number listed, They sent me an email today, Aug 5, 2020, with some bs excuse of how they are prorating my credit and only issued a credit of $36.06. Now I have provided the new contract to them that was given to me and they are refusing to honor it. I will never rent from either of them again!! They first tried to say I returned it early and had unused days, I even explained why the credit was issued. I filed a complaint with the BBB, consumer affairs and I'm posting a review anywhere I can until I get the rest of my money."
"I have had to cancel my booking way ahead so plenty of notice for them yet a well as keeping one third of the money I haven't received a penny back. I understand that it might be due to Coronavirus however it's been two months and no money were refund. COVID 19 is only a pathetic excuse for this fraud of a website. "Total Scam, they cancelled my reservation in Italy even though I called and told them I would be delayed and then kept my money for the whole month rental. Fortunately Bank of America back charged their bank and refunded my money after I disputed the charge. Very unethical business. Do yourself a favor and book direct with the rental car company when you arrive at your destination, you will pay less and have the security of dealing direct with the rental car company. " We rented a car through Rentalcars.com. The reservation was made 6 months prior to travel for a car from Aerodrive. We arrived at the rental car desk on Christmas day in Melbourne, Aus. only to be notified that the company had gone out of business months earlier.
Why were we not notified by Rentalcars.?
We had to Uber to a different location and start searching for a car in a foreign country on one of the busiest holiday times of the year. This was a nightmare! We found a car with Hertz, but the cost included additional fees: insurance (required to pay due to last minute rental) and a location fee.
My total additional cost to rent the same category car was $144USD. Rentalcars.com has asked for the invoice and my bank statement, which I provided, but is planning to refund $20, which is the difference in daily rental charges. This is unsatisfactory. They should be willing to pay ALL of my additional costs. I had no choice in this matter.
They have also offered me a discount on future rentals. Why would I ever want to do business again with a company that treats its customers this way?

Would not use this Web site again. I would book direct with a reputable hire car company. Booked a car through this site and did not received a booking confirmation despite the full cost of the car having been taken from my bank account. No proactive follow up of the lack of confirmation despite my requests for them to contact me led to problems on car collection and 100 pounds additional charges which rentalcars.com refused to reimburse. The company they advertised on their site (easirent) wanted 1600 pounds deposit and only on a credit card! I was charged 100 pounds extra insurance in order to avoid blocking 1600 pounds on my card for up to 4 weeks Most hire car companies charge 500 pounds,
allow deposit by debit card and return the deposit as soon as you return the car. Felt totally scammed plus it took over two hours to collect the car with all the unexpected complications. Would never use this company or rentalcars.com again. Also were not given a copy of the damage report on collection and we're given are car with damage all along the side of the car and with no glass in one of the wing mirrors. Car was also smaller than advertised, as well as costing us in the end a total of 155 pounds for 4 days hire when additional charges were included. Rentalcars.com gave no assistance with these issues and we ended up with nothing but hassle, delay and massive cost. Would book direct with a reputable hire car company with reasonable deposit levels and no rediculous hidden charges next time.

And I saw in my renting statement that there are another one time fee for more than $1000. So I tried to cancel the order right the way and I found out that I just couldn't access the cancellation in any ways from their web page, so I can the customer service number and I got hang up immediately. We wanted to rent a car with rentalcars.com and they accepted a DEBIT card to make a reservation but refused to give the car because the companie, finally need a CREDIT card! The compagnie can do nothing about it and RENTALCARS.COM refused to cancel it.
We called them and they told us that we had 24 hours to cancel it and of course it was less than 24 hours but still doesnt want to cancel it. She hang up!!!!!!!!
Now we have no money and no cars....
