Cheap and awful don’t buy

"Most awful cheap jewelry. Since June 2019 I have had 2 different rings ranging in price from 1000 to 2000.00 dollars diamonds just falling out. Ridiculous also quality of Gold is ridiculous. You will get better quality jewelry at target. So disgusting. I will never order from them again."

Caveat Emptor: Ross-Sim

"Ross-Simons will NOT stop sending me catalogues, no matter how many times I've called I'm still getting 3-4 catalogues a week. For me the now the Ross-Simons brand is associated with an avalanche of junk mail and I will never buy from them again."

"I have been ordering from Ross Simons for years. Back then I purchased several pieces, and only one was defective. Now I have half a dozen broken rings and earrings gathering dust before I scrap them. this is the end!"

"The silver mesh link bracelet I ordered broke and basically fell apart. I won’t be shopping here anymore. Buyer beware! There’s no such thing as affordable luxury. You get what you pay for. "

Shipping costs and VIP scam

"Most of my purchases over the last two years have been disappointing but I kept the items because of their shipping and handling costs which compared to industry standards is excessive. What galls me is when I call about an item I purchased that I consider sub-par or misrepresented and I complain about having to bear the cost of returning it, I get the sales pitch of joining their VIP program for a mere $99/year, then I wouldn't be charged S/H...REALLY? The last time I had contact with them over a recent purchase, I dealt with a surly female sales rep and her equally surly 'supervisor'...I ended the conversation by telling him to discontinue the barrage of sales catalogs as I would no longer patronize the business and that I would be writing a review. Unless they change their trajectory they are undermining the business."

Cheap junk. Beware. Refund pending.

"Last month I ordered two expensive fine-jewelry bracelets from R-S online. Total cost for order came to over $2,000. Both arrived in a timely fashion. Bracelet 1 was pretty, although diamond embellishment was a disappointment. But the problem with this item was that the clasp was defective and the thing could not be securely fastened to my wrist! Sent it back per instructions - that was pretty okay. New item on its way.

I’d been wearing Bracelet 2 (basically a ‘tennis bracelet’) since it arrived... Bit today the clasp failed, and when I took it off, it had also broken into 2 pieces!

Called customer service - arranged to return BOTH bracelets, since quality was so poor. Ryan, the person who took care of me, was polite and helpful.

Two separate transactions, etc. for return and refund, but a hoping this is resolved with a full refund.

Honestly, I’ve been scammed before online, but I thought of R-S as being fairly reputable for quality... Silly me. This stuff is junk jewelry. Let the buyer beware.

When the price is too good to be true beware.

"Returning obvious fake pearl earrings. Advertised as 14k gold and cultured freshwater pearl earrings. Pearls are very rough with white substance chipping off. They're obviously fake and painted. Gold portion does not have 14k stamp."

Tried to Sell Jewelry to Ross-Simons

"My engagement ring and wedding band are platinum. They are both plain and my center stone is a 2 carat emerald cut sapphire with 1/2 carat diamonds on either side. Not everyone wants a fancy band nor do they want a diamond in the center. In a very short curt email I was told my jewelry didn't fit their needs. The next sentence said for me to upload pictures of any other jewelry I felt like selling.

The next paragraph gave instructions on selling scrap jewelry to them. Never again will I contact them.

Company has changed - not worth your time.

"I started ordering from Ross-Simons when I was in my 20s. I'm now 68. I used to feel I received value for my dollar but the last few years their quality has declined tremendously. I've returned a number of items lately - one item was not even as pictured. They have also developed a habit of showing items in their catalog which seem to be quite a bargain, but if you go to the website or call an order in the price is considerably higher. They then tell me it was a printing error in the catalog. They do not honor the prices in the catalog. I recently ordered a necklace on a "chain" - but the chain was more like a piece of gossamer webbing. No way would I trust any pendant on that "chain." The very delicate, almost invisible "chain" wasn't worthy of the name. I'm done w/Ross-Simons after a 40+ year relationship with them. "

Very poor quality items

"I ordered a white safekeeper wall mirror to store my jewelry.

The hardware made installing it extremely hard. The brackets on the back were misaligned by almost a full inch, and the supplied paper pattern did not fit reality either horizontally or vertically (the two brackets were closer together, and not at the same height). The hanging also involved using anchors in a way that made the whole thing unstable.

I asked for a partial refund, since I gave up on their method and hung them like regular cabinets thank goodness I had wood and a table saw.

They denied me a partial refund, I shouldn't have hung it, and just made them pick up the thing (which they said they could do, but didn't say if they would pay for it).

The catalogs never stop - EVEN WHEN YOU'RE DEAD!

"My mother, who died TWO YEARS AGO, made the mistake of ordering from Ross Simons. Now the catalogs don't stop. It doesn't matter how many times I've begged or who I speak to, they just keep coming. It's almost as if they enjoy trolling me by sending the catalogs. Even if I had a predilection for junk jewelry, I would NEVER order from a company who has such a callous disregard for the customer. Please think twice before ordering from this company...unless you want neverending junk mail!"

After the sale...they crush you.

"The jewelry was pedestrian and not particularly well made, I would never buy from them again. The real pain in the neck is once they have your name in the database you can expect to be deluged with catalogs and offers and solicitations no matter how many times you ask them to stop. In the past year (I use a service that stops junk mail), we have requested 17 times that they just leave us alone yet they persist. When I call they always tell me, "You can expect 1-2 more catalogs" but they never delete my name. I don't want crappy jewelry and I don't want hundreds of catalogs. They give you both."

terrible product - buyers beware

"I ordered a 14 k yellow gold ring. Item#: 869308. It was fairly substantial. When it arrived, it felt like paper it was so light. There is NO way this was gold or any metal. I am still puzzled as to what it could have been made of. At the very most it was gold plated paper. I was tempted to take it to my jeweler, but returned it next day. Spent around 17 dollars for return shipping to insure and track. Lo and behold when you go on the website there is NO way to leave a review. In their CS section they note they will send you an email after a purchase to review the item and it never happened. I wanted to warn others, but obviously they don't want people warned. "
