"After waiting 15 days for my order, calling and changing my order, responding to poorly worded emails and phone calls from India, I have concluded Silicon Solar is not a real store and the website is a fraud.
The website looks very professional and polished, the products sheets very informative and detailed, but it is all BS. You get directed to a call center in India. Street view that company addresses in GE and the New York address puts you on a highway in a field. The California location is a noodle shop. The direct phone number goes to a voice recording.
I have been burned twice because the first item was out of stock after I waited for two weeks for some indication that it was shipped. I did not check my credit card on line to see if I was charged...Stupid me... so I ordered the model up. The call center people will continually reassure you that your order in processing and will be shipped soon, but nothing will happen.
I suspect this was a real company at one point that either was sold or went bankrupt. The new owners who run the site are offshore and are activity processing orders, but likely do not have any product.
The web site needs to be taken down. I was fully convinced I was dealing with a professional and well established business.
Stay clear!! "
"It's exhausting dealing with these people.
I cancelled my order after a month of placing my order and not hearing back from them regarding shipping. They cancelled and gave me a #. Two weeks later, I called to find out about my refund and was told that the shipment was being shipped. That was after I cancelled. Two weeks later, no refund and no shipment. I called to get the same answer. It's going on three months and I have not gotten my refund. Horrible People!"
"DO NOT BUY FROM THIS COMPANY! I purchased one of their pumps in March of 2014 and didn't receive it until May. Then that pump didn't put out the head that was advertised. I reluctantly shipped it back and bought a bigger model. That model didn't work at all, so I sent it back too and got a replacement. That model didn't work either. So I requested a full refund. It's now April of 2015 and still have not received a dime back from them.
UPDATE: Silicon Solar has responded back to this post saying that the refund has been processed. That was 3 weeks ago, and I've seen absolutely nothing. This is the same kind of response that I have been getting for over a year now. They will say that they are sorry and a refund is on the way, but it doesn't happen. "
"To anyone who is considering making a "purchase" with Silicon Solar, please be advised that this company is guilty of fraud.
Last summer I placed an order with them for an item that was on sale. Surprisingly this sale item as out of stock. I was told that it would be shipped by the end of September
September came and went and the order never shipped. By the end of October I requested a refund. After two months of emails, phone calls and constant promises that I would get my refund, I stopped hearing from them.
In January I filed a consumer complaint with the New Mexico District Attorney General's office. The DA sent three letters to them and never received a response. The case has now been closed and I never got my refund.
Their web site proudly proclaims this to be a "family business". Well, there are families, and there are families.
If you are considering buying from them, I strongly advise that you not do so."
"2008: Ordered a small brushless pump: *no problem*: they shipped the correct product in a timely fashion, charged my card (correctly), all was well.
Late 2014: The pump failed (possibly via poor maintenance). Price was lower, so attempted to order 2 (to have a spare). The Silicon Solar website took ALL my credit card information (including the CVV2 code) and made it *look* like the order had gone through just fine. *Then* i started getting emails that i had to go place the order *again* at PayPal! WTF?!?! You took ALL my credit card information! If PayPal is the only option, ***your site should NOT have accepted my credit card information***!
Another nice touch: **totally different** order numbers on their original confirmation of order email and the one from PayPal demanding payment.
I don’t know *what* happened to these people… taken over by one of the mafias, maybe? Doesn’t matter about the products—they don’t know how to run an honest business. DO NOT USE THEM!"
"So many have told MY story... "charged my credit card... no notice of back order when placing the order... promises after promises of being shipped out with a tracking number and etc. with no resolution." After a month and a half (and keeping all email exchanges on the subject which proved useful), I advised them to cancel my order and refund my money: which they did not do. I didn't wait for them to do anything because I was highly suspicious of them at this point when I canceled the order: when I gave notice to them, I IMMEDIATELY contacted my credit card company and disputed the charge, and B of A immediately refunded my credit card and created a claim. B of A investigated and I assisted with my information. Incredibly, Silicon Solar disputed my claim for a refund claiming I had received but never returned the item, and then changed their story to say I was sent the refund via check. I provided my email evidence (mind you I already had my refund via B of A) and asked B of A to request Silicon Solar to provide a delivery receipt for the tracking number they claimed to use or conversely, to show my signature on the canceled check they supposedly sent me (via a tracking number): of course they could not do either and promptly dropped their defense and therefore my dispute stands, making the refund stand. From beginning to end it was a 3 month ordeal involving Silicon Solar.
Keep records, cut the transaction short when you believe it isn't going the way it should, and contact your credit card company right away after cancelling your order.
Best of luck to you.... I will NEVER use Silicon Solar and will tell my story over and over again of the horrible experience with these people.

"As with the people below, we were scammed by silicon solar. We have been looking at our options and the FTC is will help everyone be reimbursed if enough complaints are made. This company files lawsuits for a group of individuals against one company, free of charge. Please call 1-***-***-**** and file a complaint. It will be worth your while. "
"I guess I should have listened to the other reviews posted about this company. Gotta love a company that charges your card and then sends you NOTHING in return. We purchased a solar pond pump and 6 solar cell phone charges back in August, and it took many phone calls and a lot of follow up hassle on our part to finally receive the pump in November. Supposedly the pump was back-ordered, which does happen and is fine, but we received NO notice of the back-order, and actually zero communication from the company regarding any part of our order, from confirmation to shipping, nothing. As of today, December 3rd, we STILL have not received the solar chargers, and have told them that we want to receive a refund for the chargers (we'll see if that actually happens). We were also told in one of the previous phone calls that we would be getting a 15% discount on the pump and a free set of solar Christmas lights, but have yet to see either of those. At this point, I would be happy with receiving our refund for the yet to be seen solar chargers, but who knows if that will happen. I have no idea how a company like this can survive with this as their business practice. The only reason we went through them to buy a pump is that they were the only ones who had a powerful enough pump for our needs. Others through more reliable company like Amazon were not as powerful. Too bad, since solar powered lights, etc are more environmentally friendly and their company could do a brisk business with a better business practice."
"Easily the worst internet shopping experience I've ever had. Placed my order on 9/18/2014, at which point they charged my credit card, and made no indication that they were low or out of stock, or that the product was on backorder. Called on 10/1/2014, and was told it would ship within a few days. Called on 10/20/2014, and was again told that my order would ship within a few days. Called on 11/14/2014, and was told that my order would ship by the end of the next week, and here I am on 11/20/2014, with no product and no shipping confirmation."
"Ordered solar water pump. TOOK 4 MONTHS TO ARRIVE. When it did, it did not have the promised lift and the battery function for night use did not work. Sent it back following the directions given online and on the phone. Two months later, still no credit. Have left messages. Have information on messages. Nothing. Don't believe that baloney about they will pay shipping costs. Just write them a check and expect nothing. I hope they are just plain old criminals because I am scared if people are truly this incompetent and breeding. STAY AWAY FROM THESE LOW LIFES."
"I ordered a product 3 months ago and still have not received it. What kind of company takes 3 months to send your order after taking your payment. I got one email saying that in a max 1-2 weeks and then another email again saying 1-2 weeks again. If i was a company and customers are expecting this product, id go somewhere else! "
"Don't deal with this company. They took my money, did not send me the pond pump and 5 months later have still not issued a refund. To the other reviewers who were scammed, I suggest filing a report with the Attorney General's office in either NY or CA where they are based. Also contact Mastercard, and Visa and let them know what is happening. Sooner or later, they will refuse to allow the company to use their cards to steal from the public. "
"The solar sign light of Silicon solar works really amazing. It helps my business extend hours of exposure and even got more exposure well into the night. This product helps me in many ways without spending more; It even operates at no cost so I don’t have to pay anything once purchased."
"I bought one of Silicon Solar’s water fountain and I am extremely happy with how it looks and works in my garden. It’s like having a taste of nature at the comfort of my home. Me and my wife did have fun installing it, I like the design which perfectly fits our garden. Silicon Solar’s service is as good as their product! Thanks!"
"TL;DR: Took my money, sent me half a product, repeatedly lied to me about sending the rest, refuses to refund me, still don't have a complete product, and they still have my money.
I purchased a SiliconSolar (AKA SunMaxx Solar) water heater in the begining of March of 2013, intended for an off-grid installation I would be moving to in mid April. From the very begining I had nothing but issues with my order, that proceeded to escalate, and continue through present day.
Firstly, the shipment was delayed. There was no mention of a backorder or supply line issue when the order was placed. Upon multiple requests for information, I was given the answer of "We are opening up a new West Coast fulfillment office, and there are delays getting it operational.' Blaming the "fulfillment office" will prive to be a regular scapegoat this disaster unfolds.
The order was finally shipped April 9th, 2013, and gauranteed to be delivered April 11th, 2013. The order never showed. This is now an issue, as I had intended to move on April 14th. Upon multiple phone calls to many departments and freight handlers, it's finally determined that the product was not properly palletized and labeled, and is somewhere in a freight terminal and can not be located. To get my water heater in, I was required to go down to the terminal, and sort through freight containers to try and locate the product. Upon finding it, it is forklifted into the back of my pickup in the pouring rain, and I'm on my way.
Upon arriving at my new home, unpacking, and sorting things out, I get around to unboxing the waterheater and begin installation in early June. This is when I realize that I am missing a handful of major components to the system. The shipped package was marked as "1 Pallete", so the exact number of boxes in the complete system was unknown at time of pickup. I contact SunMaxx Solar to report the issue and the real fun begins.
They immediately acknowledge that I was shorted components and never argued that fact. However, getting the components to me has proven impossible. Since reporting the issue to them, I have been promised that they have been shipped a multitude of times, then received excuses of "The fulfillment department lost power" or "we are having logistic issues" or "the logistics team was on vacation" or "our computer systems crashed" or "we are installing a new voice system". The excuses were endless, and the components never came. Additionally, I was bounced between SunMaxx Solar and SiliconSolar. I'm not sure the differentiation between these companies, but their representives constantly vollied me around.
I was patient and understanding through out June and July, at first believing that they were making a good faith effort to make the mistake right, but slowly realizing that the company is horribly incompitent, unable to respond to phone calls and emails, makes promises that are outright lies, and, in the end, makes it impossible to get me a complete, funcational product.
In August I had enough. I requested that SunMaxx Solar refund me my money, and have what was shipped to me retrieved at their cost. They ignored my request and kept promising that fulfilling the components was their "top logistics priority". I repeatedly informed them that their word had no merit with me, and I could wait no longer for them to deliver what I purchased; I needed a refund. Immediately. Afterall, summer was ending, and winter was approaching. Installing the product would be impossible soon, and I needed a hot water solution.
After repeatedly requesting a refund, their final response was "send it back to us at your cost, and we will refund you". Translation: "Spend $200+ to send the useless components we did send you to us, and trust us that we will give you your money back, even though we have lied to you for months now." I told them this was unacceptable, and they need to refund me immediately, and retreive their parts on their dime. Afterall, this was their failure to deliver me a product. They responded by informing me that I'll get the rest of the parts when I get them, and that if I want, I can sell it on craigslist. Furthermore, they tried to tell me that I got a "great deal" on the hot water heater and I should be happy. Talk about insulting.
So here we are. I have no hot water heater system and no refund.
SunMaxx Solar is a dishonest, incompetent, sleezy company that no one should do business with."
