Do not buy from here!!

"Because I ordered my glasses 3 weeks ago which they had a copy of my prescription, and was only told today that my prescription was too ‘high’ for the frames. Waste of my time, when I could’ve easily been told from day one, I rang up the customer service team numerous times and not once did they tell me this. Utterly disappointed, I wouldn’t recommend them at all. "

Sent defective glasses and impossible customer service

"I ordered one pair of prescription glasses from SmartBuyGlasses last year and they were fine. I ordered a pair of prescription sunglasses 3 weeks ago with the same prescription. When i received them the prescription did not match! Customer service demanded a letter from an optometrist in order to remanufacture the lenses to the proper prescription. No optometrist would inspect the glasses since they did not supply them. When I asked customer service for the name of an optometrist who would do the inspection, they could not provide one. I would understand if this was the first pair or a new prescription, but that is not the case. This is unacceptable. Finally, all communication was by email and it was a different agent every time.

SmartBuyGlasses sent a defective pair of glasses and refuses to correct the problem without impossible third party verification.

Great value, but not without flaws

"Considering the low prices, I was very skeptical about the Tom Ford frames I ordered. I had read online reviews claiming that the products were counterfeit. Ultimately, I didn't care... at the end of the day it's all just plastic made in the same factory.

The shipping was incredibly fast, considering the glasses came from Hong Kong. The glasses seem legit, although I haven't had them looked at to check for authenticity. Ultimately, they look good, and that's the most important thing.

The only issues I experienced were a bit of discoloration on the inside of the arm near the hinge, and very small, barely noticeable scratches on the front of the frames, where I imagine the lenses were popped in (or where the original non-rX glass was popped out). Only noticeable on very, very careful inspection.

I contacted customer service, and they gave me the option of replacement glasses and lenses with shipping paid for, or a 10% discount on my glasses if I wanted to keep them.

Considering the issues were small and barely noticeable, I decided to keep the frames, and was able to negotiate a 15% on the frames. I would have liked to have received a further discount (as damage discounts typically are 20%) but I didn't want to spend any more time haggling. I accepted the 15% discount on the frames. Customer service was good, courteous and fairly prompt.

Ultimately, I probably would have experienced zero issues if I had paid more at an optical store and demanded perfection in person, but considering how little I paid and how fast I got the glasses, I figure I got what I paid for.

The moral of the story: You get what you pay for. The prices are great, but I wasn't totally surprised with the minor issues I experienced. To be honest, I was expecting worse! I'd probably order from them again... but my expectations are now in order.

Poor Images

"The pictures and colour of the sunglasses are not accurate. It is very hard to know what the sunglasses are going to look like in real life when you get them. Photographs would be much better of the real product. Also the size of the lenses should be available for every pair of sunglasses so you can size them properly; this is an unforgivable oversight. It seems that there has been very little effort put into their website."
