"Ordered a Lian-Li PC-6977B case on 6-18 and it was shown as in stock. It took a couple of weeks to arrive but it did so in very good condition and is a beautiful and well made case. Called Robert about the slow delivery and he told me it was being shipped directly from New York, which it was. "
"On 2/10/04 I placed an order for a tube of Arctic Silver 5, a Muffled Computing PSU Fan Muffler, and a Shuttle Heat Pipe. I received the first two items promptly but the Heat Pipe was placed on back order. A month later I e-mail him and get no response. So I called So-Trick and Robert Harvey answered. He sounded like he just woke up (2 PM in the afternoon). He said he ordered it from Shuttle but it hadn't arrived. He tells me Shuttle is right down the street from him. Another month passes so I e-mail Kitty Chen (hi Kitty). She says she'll find out what's going on. I call him again. He said it still hasn't arrived but he will ship it as soon as it comes in. I e-mail Kitty again and get no response. Another month passes and this time I request to cancel the order. Robert says fine just send in the paperwork. ??? He wants me to e-mail him my personal info, invoice number, etc. rather than asking for it over the phone. Fine, whatever... I do as he asks. Nothing. No response. No refund. I end up ordering the part for double the price directly from Shuttle (down the street from him) and receive it 3 days later. I try to call him again. Phone number is disconnected. I have to look up the So-Trick web registar info to find a working phone number. I call one and a black lady answers and says I'm calling her home not So-Trick. I call the other number and Robert answers. He tells me he shipped the item but can provide no proof of shipping. I tell him I ended up ordering directly from Shuttle and received the part promptly and what does he think of that. He says I guess they got them in. I question whether he even ordered my part and he accused me of "trying to get parts for free." He again agrees to refund my money. This time I FAX him the info and a refund request. One week passes... nothing. No refund.
And now, the way to handle any problem with this bum: CALL YOUR CREDIT CARD COMPANY
I did. And they refunded my money.
Robert, when you list items on your website that are out-of-stock as being in-stock and charge customers for those items and never deliver because you don't even order the out-of-stock item. THAT IS STEALING.
You're a loser.
And Kitty, I don't know WHY you're involved with this guy or WHY you even try defending him or his company on this website. Surely you can find a webmaster job working for HONEST people."
"I believe three words can describe my ordeal with So-Trickcomputers – fraud, misrepresentation, and lies.
Fraud: About a week after my order, I received my package. I opened up the box and saw all the stuff I ordered. I then noticed something about the box. It was a USPS box that had been taken apart and turned inside out. I must say, it’s a very clever way of avoiding handling fees since USPS provides these boxes for a free initial price (you get the boxes for free, but you ultimately pay a fee for them when you ship something with the box). I wonder how many shipments they’ve made like this.
Misrepresentation: As I perused through my goods, I found my silent (as the reviews say) Samsung floppy drive. Hmm. It says Sony on the label. I checked the website again. “Samsung.” I looked at the label again. “Sony.” I promptly emailed Robert (the owner) to see if I could get a refund. Two days later I get an email saying that he’d send out a real Samsung drive to me, free of charge. Wow! “What great customer service,” I thought.
Lies: A week passed. Surely the postal service doesn’t take this long. I received no word of anything. Ok, maybe he’s busy. I’ll give him the benefit of the doubt. So I emailed Robert again. Well, two days passed and I received no email from him following up on my request for an update about my floppy drive. So then I decide to try to call their 1-888 number. Hmm. It seems to be disconnected. Ok, let’s try emailing Kitty Chen, their reselleratings.com representative.
Great! I got a response from her saying that the matter would be fixed shortly. Apparently Robert was busy relocating his business elsewhere, and was very busy (see, I told you he was probably busy). I was told Robert would locally pick up a Samsung drive and send it my way (apparently they didn’t have it), and that I should expect a package within the week. Excellent, So-trick has pulled through again! I knew you guys wouldn’t fail me.
The week went by. Another week went by. I’m not getting my floppy drive. I sent another email (admittedly, I began to throw the threats around at this point), only to get nothing in response. What a surprise. Three weeks had gone by since my initial email asking for a refund. Surely, that’s a reasonable amount of time to make amends. Robert, Robert, Robert… I’m afraid I’ll have to report your fraudulent activities now. I’m sure USPS would like to know how you illegally used their property (remember the agreement that says it’s a crime to misuse the provided boxes when you order them?). I’ll also have to report you to the BBB. I’ll also have to share my story with everyone who wants to read up on the business “ethics” of So-Trickcomputers on resellerratings.com. And to think, all of this would have been avoided if you had sent me a $15 floppy drive.
Yeah, So-trick may have been a good business in the past (as their older evaluations reflect), but now they’re a business to avoid (as their newer evaluations reflect).
-------------------
So now they talk, huh?
"Fraud? ...it's common courtesy to invert the box." Ok. Whatever. The box looked brand new and previously unused to me.
"Misrepresentation... I do not understand how you can say that one is louder or more quiet than another." It never said that when I ordered it. As a matter of fact, it seems as if the item is question has been pulled from the website. I can't even try to disprove you now.
"You were sent a total... You now have three - more than you will need for years to come." That's funny. I haven't recieved a single item since my original shipment. If by "Robert did his best to work with [me]" means not returning my email asking for a simple update, then yes, he did a fine job.
"Fact: ... The only difference is the label." Again with the funniness thing. I have not recieved anything since my original shipment. I have in my possession one (1) Sony floppy drive. I hope you're not lying to me again.
"If you are that concerned ... it is my opinion that you have issues that we cannot assist you with." I figured that out a long time ago. What else is new? "
"Though a bit optimistic about when I would receive the order (owner said about two days, actually was five, which is what I was expecting anyway), I got exactly what I ordered. The case, a Lian-Li PC78 (which is gigantic) arrived in good condition less than a week after I ordered it. Pricing was good, and So-Trick was the only store in the US that actually had this particular case available. I would use them again; this was my first order with them."
"I ordered this mouse pad $8.95 +tax X-Trac Pro HS Optical Mouse Pad w/Eels and received the $6.00 +tax X-Trac Micro Mouse Pad. I don't like the fact that they sent me a different mouse pad without asking me if it's ok to send it since they were out. I called the 800 number (1-***-***-****) and spoke to the owner on March 15, 2004 and the owner didn't sound apologetic to me at all and laughed about it. he said the one I ordered was out of stock and will be getting more in 2 days. So I asked him to send me the correct one, which he said sure and told me to keep the wrong mouse pad since it wasn't worth paying shipping on it to send it back and asked me to email him to remind him about this, which I did.
Now it's been 43 days sine I've spoken to him and no mouse pad. I've emailed him 3 times now this month and no reply what-so-ever. I am now contacting my bank about this and will report them to the Better Business Bureau at www.bbb.org. I will never do business with this company again. "
"Great customer service, communication directly with the owner is very nice. Order a lian-li case, arrived on time in perfect condition, best prices around. Good job, keep up the good work."
"No problems. Ordered some lian li stuff.
Would order from them again"
"So-Trick computer Co. business philosophies are rarely seen in today’s profit margin world, not only are they small but can perform more efficiently. A choice on-line seller for reliability and satisfaction!! Very satisfied with customer service and support, they're trustworthy to do business with!!! A++++"
"Had a positive experience. They had a hard to find item in stock and shipped it promptly. By no fault of the merchant, the manufacturer forgot to include a key part in the product box. I e-mailed the merchant's customer service and received a quick reply and they promptly shipped out the missing part (without any hassling like some merchants). "
"Great selection on rare items. There was a delay between the time of purchase and the time of shipping, around 9 days. When I called them, the CEO explained to me the situation. He said that one of the vendors had a problem. I'm glad that he was able to explain to me the reason for the delay. It would have been better, however, if he would have e-mailed or called me concerning the delay instead of vice versa. Overall, the item came well packed and in great condition."
"Fast shippping, best price on the xtrac hammer mouse pad I could find, super customer service. I would use again in the future thanks."
"Would never shop here again.
Items listed on website as in Stock were not and backordered 2+ weeks. I was charged twice for my order, was told I was getting a refund 2 and a half weeks ago and I am still waiting for it. I was told my order was being shipped on 2 seperate occasions, both times they didn't follow through on it and failed to inform me about it.
My experience may be an isolated one, but it is enough for me to take my money somewhere else."
"Ordered two small items and recieved them very quickly. Very satisfied and will do business with agian."
"Again, you are making a mistake. Is that all you do, make mistakes? I did not file any complaints against you at BBB. Although I should have. Do your research well then bring it into arguments.
"
"I have ordered twice from this "company". The first time was a Spidey Case. It was advertised as it coming with an LED fan. The LEDs didn't work plus when I went to look at it closer, the wire popped off.(I dont own a soldering iron) They ignored my emails to try and get a replacemnet fan. Plus the case looked as if someone hand spray-painted it. Nasty looking.
The second time I ordered 3 rounded cables. One being a floppy device cable. I tried every way to get that cable to work, but the floppy drive light would not turn off. I put the old ribbon cable back in and it worked perfect.
I don't know what it is but I am having bad luck with SoTrickComputers. Beware!"
